  1. Please tell me there's some sort of invention for making infusing oils easier? lol Its mostly the just the straining part I hate....
  2. I think, also like other citrus, it can be phototoxic? is that the right word? lol
  3. I can't seem to find any info on safe levels of citric acid. Or really, any other safety issues with using it. Anyone know of any good links or info so I could read up on it?
  4. A fiend told me she'd KILL to get Kitchen Spice - White Barn Candle (thats bbw right?)....now, I don't want any homicides on my hands lol so, does anyone know of a good dupe?
  5. Yep, read through the fundraiser info there...but I guess I spaced the customer reciept form 'doh I thought about using the cheapo tshirt bags from Sams Club...I'll have to go price 'em Thanks for the info Georgia and Kimberly
  6. I ordered once from them a couple years ago - I can't remember the details of how it went, but I certainly don't remember being disappointed The quality of what I got was good too.
  7. I'm working on an agreement to start doing fundraisers. So far, what I am doing is making a cover letter...tell about my products, why they should use my business, etc. On another page I'll include basic program information (how kids sell, how money is collected, how I'm paid, etc). On another page I was going to do the actual agreement list style with points that they agree to. There are so many things I'm unsure about... do the kids somehow give the people they sell to a reciept since payment is collected up front? what do you do (or what do you have the organization do) if a kid is dishonest and "sells" but never turns in any order or forms? I figure its the organizations issue...but how ever it turns out, it could look REALLY bad for my company, yk? how do you prepare for the kids to deliever the product? do you supply boxes or bags? do you include it in your agreement that the ogranization will figure that out? I guess there would probably be enough boxes from delivering the product to the org. that the kids could use those, right? do you let the org pick scents or do you do it? I'm thinking may let them choose a scent package - like 6 holiday scents I choose, or a group of my 6 everyday best sellers. what sort of things do you include with the customers order? business cards? instruction sheets? I guess I'd have to do the sorting of orders to include this...or maybe I could just send a stack of preprinted material (business cards with instructions on back?) for them to include with each order when sorting... what other info do you include in the agreement? I've got a lot of the basics figured out on what to include, but I know I'll probably miss a lot of stuff. Sorry I have so many questions...I just want to get this just right and have as few kinks as possible to work out...Thanks to anyone who can offer up some of their experience
  8. None of the bottles say "candles/soaps"...the website does (like Asian Sandalwood), the bottle says "Soap Safe". But, my fragrances like Baby Powder and Jasmine say (on the bottle) "Soap Safe" but the website says "Safe for wax candles, soaps, and skin products". Its just kind of confusing. I guess I'll just go with the safest option...if its not painfully clear its ok for skin, I won't use it for that
  9. I've always thought that soap safe FO's are not always skin safe because they are safe for the skin only temporarily. So I was going through all of my fragrances I use for candles making note of the safety of each. Some of my peaks bottles say soap safe....so I assume that meant its not ok for lotions and such. But I check the website and it is ok for skin products. But, some of the other peaks bottles that say soap safe don't say anything about skin safety on the website...just says basically whats on the bottle - candles/soaps. Am I wrong about my first assumption that soap safe doesn't necessarily mean skin safe? If I'm right, then how do I know for sure? Just go with the website? At first I was going with whats on the bottle, but doing that I was missing out on a lot of FOs that were actually safe for lotion.
  10. Thanks everyone - I ordered from Bubbles N Lights. Can't wait to get it
  11. I tried one from LS, but it didn't throw for me at all. This time around I want to use it in b&b as well...so who has a good one? I wish Peak did lol 'cause then I'd know it was and I'd probably have it by Tues.
  12. Thanks I had considered replacing the soft shea and some of the oil with more cocoa or kokum butter. I just might try that next time
  13. Yeah, I would love to join that...who knows, the temptation may overcome me by the 28th lol I just needed to buy this one right now...I need it by yesterday lol (found one btw )
  14. Anyone carry the combo warmer/burner from levine gifts? I want to buy one retail...figured I'd buy from someone here http://www.tartwarmer.com/cowabu.html
  15. When a recipe calls for x% of FO, would you use the same amount of EO? It probably depends on the EO....I'm going to try a peppermint foot scrub, but I'm not sure how much peppermint. I have some aromatherapy books on the way....but I'm impatient lol
  16. Is this expected to happen? I made an emulsifying scrub and over the last week or so the oil has been separating out of it. The recipe already has 10% ewax and 8% stearic (the rest oils (mostly), butters). Any suggestions on stopping this from happening?
  17. If I put a scrub in a malibu tube, it should be fine without a preservative right?
  18. Just curious if anyone has had any luck with Emerald Pear in soy? I searched an old thread on the archived board and didn't find anything about it...
  19. You ladies are making me want an upland mold lol But it'll have to wait...too many GOOD co-ops going on lol
  20. I'm trying to get stuff together to start doing fundraisers (brochure, agreement, etc)...but I'm just drawing a blank. I've downloaded all the files from candle cauldron, and they do help, but I was hoping somebody might be willing to share what they've done. I promise I won't copy lol I'm just the type that it helps to see other examples - helps me think about what works for MY business, yk? So, purty purty please, can someone help me out?
  21. If that's what you are referring to..... (taken from uspto site...) Any time you claim rights in a mark, you may use the "TM" (trademark) or "SM" (service mark) designation to alert the public to your claim, regardless of whether you have filed an application with the USPTO. However, you may use the federal registration symbol "®" only after the USPTO actually registers a mark, and not while an application is pending.
  22. good to know I figured that since soap didn't NEED to be labeled, that any labeling would be for product appeal and at the discretion of the labeler....thanks for clarifying..I hate to give out bad advice lol
  23. If its just plain soap with no claims (beautifying, etc), then from what I understand, it doesn't need ingredients listed. And if thats true, if you didn't want to list lye but wanted to list oils, "soponified oils of..." would suffice. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
  24. Thats what I was thinking, but I just wanted to check. Thanks
