  1. This is easy peasy in Adobe Photoshop with the extract filter. I'm not sure if its in Photoshop Elements (or whatever the "light" version is)....but I think you can download trial versions of adobe products on their webiste...
  2. I like it! It looks nice, definately not cheap. I like the knot better than the bow. I especially like the jagged edges on the kraft paper
  3. Dans Bands here too - they're the larger shrink wraps for soap at thesage.com.
  4. Oh that would be good I did a lot of googling too and still didn't come up with much.
  5. Hmm, not much of that showed up....I'll search again though
  6. Yeah, I looked at that.....all are at least 150 miles away, and most I'm too late for this year (for the holidays anyway). The only thing left is a juried show with an average of 20k attendance.....a bit much for my very first show lol I was really hoping for something smaller (and closer) to get my feet wet. I know 150 miles isn't much at all, I am willing to travel.....its just getting started with shows is HUGE for me. I'm very shy, not much of a people person (thank goodness my husband is though!)....
  7. At least my town does (Farmington, NM). If anyone else is from here and you have any luck FINDING shows, I'd like to hear suggestions lol It seems the only craft shows around here are specifically for Native American art....pottery, rugs, etc. I mean, I've got nothing against that.....it just makes it slim pickin's for any other craft. Am I just not looking in the right places? I cannot find anything about any upcoming Christmas shows......
  8. When I shrink them, the holes on the end sometimes come up over the bar, you can see it at the bottom of the bar in this image.... Down the side of the bar is the little perforated strip to tear the plastic off. I just slapped on a clear lable and voila! Its not the best packaging, but I had bad morning (aka - all day) sickness and wanted to get it done as simply and quickly as possible lol
  9. Ooh, I'll be watching this thread....I was just eyeing those the other day. I'd love to get a slab mold, but the thought of cutting them.....not so much lol
  10. Thanks everyone. I guess what I wasn't clear about...I posted so quickly....was, the warnings against EO - are they for ingesting and using theraputic amounts? Or for simply sniffing? I've always erred on the side of safety and assumed ANY contact with any amount is what the warning refers to. I've just never been able to find any solid info on that... But, I think I have a new plan....I think I'll just get my husband in there and make him do it lol
  11. A few months ago I made an eo blend containing rosemary. I'm 12 weeks pregnant. Even though rosemary should be avoided in pregnancy....I'm wondering if it would be a problem just soaping it? just get in there, get her done and let it cure?
  12. www.kangarooblue.com has a natural line of bases. I got the sampler kit for $6, but I haven't tried other bases so I can't compare it to anything
  13. Yes, thats what I was going for I want to be able to over pour and scrape off the extra instead of pour just the right amount....I'm too messy for that
  14. If you can remember this number (I use it all the time, its engraved into my brain now LOL) 28.35 - thats about how many grams there are to an oz. So.. If you have 30 grams and you want to know how many oz, just divide by 28.35 and you get 1.06. Or, if you have 1.06 oz and you want to know how many grams, just multiply by 28.35 and you get 30 (or 30.051 to be exact lol).
  15. I LOVE the oval lip balm tubes. If I get into making lip balms for sale, I definately want to get a filling tray...but I haven't seen them for the oval tubes. Does anyone know of any?
  16. Its been used for a LOT of stuff from skin irritations (rashes, eczema, etc), to poultices for bites, tooth powder, and even internally as a supplement or detox. I'm not going there though...just hoping it will have a "soothing" effect on skin irritations
  17. I'm going to make soap with pascalite clay (calcium bentonite). Its non-swelling, so I'm not too worried about it soaking up too much water or being really drying. Its actually really good stuff for the skin Anyhoo, what is the max amount of clay you would use in soap? I've seen anywhere from 1 tsp - 1 tblsp ppo, but I'm wondering if anyone has gone higher? Just trying to figure this out before trying a batch and ending up with sludge lol
  18. You can get a massive roll of it from Sams Club too - thats where I get mine
  19. Thanks for the ideas and links everyone. I'm going to have to sit down soon with everything I can think of to wrap a bar of soap and just start expirimenting lol
  20. I make wool wash for washing woolens, and the customer base for that is primarly people who use cloth diapers. So, I've wrapped all of those bars in a cloth wipe - better for the Earth and actually useful I like the way it looks too....I'll post a pic if I can ever get Photoshop to open on my terrible computer lol What I'm lost with is the body soap. I just can't come up with any ideas. I've got Dans Bands from MMS, cardstock, corrugated paper (a LOT), twine, etc. I can do laser printing on clear labels (what most of my labels are), but that won't work on dark soaps. I think the look I'm going for is natural, but elegant...not rustic/quirky/trendy (if that makes any sense lol). The bars are typically 1" thick, 3.5" wide x 2.5" tall. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm not terribly fond of soap boxes, but I'll look into them
  21. I went ahead and placed my order with OWK I got the KD7000 and this one... http://www.oldwillknottscales.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=316 Its a bit pricey, but I really like that it has 200 gram capacity and .01 gram readability
  22. I'm thinking about getting two, the KD7000 (for soaping mostly ) and another more precise one that goes to at least .01g, .001g would be better. I plan on getting them at Old Will Knot. Are the pocket scales any good? They are inexpensive and the one I was looking at (a Jennings I think) goes to .01g. I'd be afraid I'd be getting what I paid for though. Any suggestions?
  23. I use Squirrelcart and I LOVE it. I've tried a LOT of carts, and this is by far the best one I have ever used. The license cost about $100, but it was worth every penny for me
  24. This is the description from NG (the Angel that I have).. Luscious rich top notes of lemon, raspberry, honeydew melon, black currants; with middle notes of jasmine, gardenia, and nutmeg; bottom notes of white chocolate, patchouli, musk, sandalwood, and patchouli So, no, its not really alike. Fragrance oils always smell perfumey (as you would expect them too lol). Just patch, choco, and vanilla has more of a "crisp" scent to it....if that makes sense lol (btw, I absolutely love Angel...one of my favorite scents)
