  1. I did this though I didnt need stiches. I pulled them apart with a tea towel and then I used some of hubbies wet and dry sandpaper (dunno if you call it the same thing) and sanded them so they never get me again. worked a treat. Hope it heals fast for you Tammy
  2. I can only answer for soy and palm as I dont use paraffin yet. But Im pretty sure both www.aussiecandlesupplies.com.au and www.naturalcandlesupply.com.au both ship to NZ. I buy alot of FO from NG as it costs less even with shipping to AU than buying them here. Especially with the Aussie dollar atm. HTH Tammy
  3. Sorry Susan I cant help you either. Have you tried upping the FO to 9%? I do that with some lighter FOs. I use the Vanilla Sandalwood from NG and LOVE it. Tammy
  4. I have the NG one and its beautiful more sandlewood than vanilla to my nose. I havnt tried any others so cant compare. It throws strong in soy and palm but I havnt put it in soap yet so I dont know how it behaves.
  5. bart70 ...JMO means that Just My Opinion. Please dont get on your pedestal and lecture at me again. I understand how business works dont assume that I dont by ranting at me about supply and demand Sorry KoalaGirl this is off topic
  6. Wow Im sorry but if its called a Wick Stickum....its for sticking wicks. End of story. Thats just BS. I only stick the wicks down on the ones im giving away or selling to friends and I use double sided sticky tape. It works and I cant see how its any different to a wick stikum apart from it not being so thick which I think is a good think cos tealights arent that big. For my use I just wick it after I pour it. I dont care if they are busy or not no one should be rude. Hello... without people buying their stuff they wouldnt have a business. People forget that we are employing them to supply us...can always go to another supplier. Deena I bought some metro jars from them a couple of months ago and out of 12 2 have broken. The lid was on so tight the jar broke in my hand trying to get the lid off. JMO
  7. I use double sided sticky tape for my tealights but I have those for my jars. Thanks for the warning.
  8. Dont give up Its frustrating but worth it. I started making candles Aug 09 and still cant get the ht/wick right. For tarts I use mostly feather palm wax. I also use Ecosoya PB for clamshells. If your not opposed to palm give it a go. I have not had 1 FO that doesnt throw in palm. I use mostly 9% sometimes 12% if its light but I love the fragrance. I only make as a hobby with a few sales to friends. Expensive hobby but rewarding when you get it right. Keep at it
  9. Do CD wicks have a better hot throw? Im thinking about getting some from NG next time I order FO from them....we can only get cdn here.
  10. shop bought soap gives my son instant eczema where as the soap we make does not plus it feels so much nicer and I don't like the smell of shop bought soap. That is how I personally feel about handmade soap. I don't sell it...yet
  11. Palm oil in general is not the only reason for deforestation in Indonesia. The demand for tropical timber and also the mining industry not to mention natural disasters which Indonesia has had too many recently all contribute to the deforestation. The candle industry uses such a small amount of palm compared to food and soap industry. Indonesia is full of corruption. They call it KKN Korupsi Kolusi dan Nepotisme (Corruption Collusion and Nepotism) and that will take forever to change. No amount of western jumping up and down or 1 candle supplier boycoting is going to change that in a hurry. JMO. Sorry if it offends
  12. Hiya KoalaGirl I would be interested in some half if no one else wants any. Im in the hunter valley so not far I agree they are much nicer
  13. I answered your question wheels and it was converted from metric by 2 other members......I was making melts at the time so actually went to the trouble of measuring it to answer.....next time I wont bother..... lazy people can measure for themselves
  14. 16oz weighed wax was about 600 mls of liquid wax give or take a little Im sorry I dont have anything to measure fl oz ( we work in metric here) but you can convert. Is that what you ment? Feather wax that was
  15. Yeah I got 25kg of that for making melts so dont really have to worry about the burn. It is a much smaller feather. Looks pretty. I did make a pillar out of it but to my (only been making candles for a year) eyes I dont think it is burning the same. For some reason the wick doesnt look like its trimming. I dont know if this is what you found Rob so I dont know if its the same wax. I made some melts from the sample and it threw the same so I bought it. Thanks Jonsie so kind I will let you know if I need it :-)
  16. Thats typical... Anyone know if sugar cookie from ACS is the same as NCS I need tealight cups and prefer to only pay 1 lot of shipping Thanks
  17. Hiya 3 or 4 months they were out of clear honey pots in Jan or feb and I had an email from them then saying it would be 6 weeks away....and here we are almost the end of October..very annoying Co op is something I may be interested in but I am mostly hobby with just a few sales now and then atm... Hubby speaks Indoneasian/Malay so if you need an interpreter let me know lol Heirloom in Penrith isnt too bad for soap supplies they have Sweetcakes too and there is a few up Brissy way. Theres my for today
  18. Hi I emailed Candlescience a about a month 6 weeks ago and they said they do not ship international. ACS has tealight cups(just in)..yay....I seriously dont need 2500 which is now the only amount you can get at NCS and ACS has lots of pretty colours
  19. I know what you mean KoalaGirl I had one break in my hand trying to get the lid off it was on so tight. Thanks for that tip I will use it
  20. I know if you had ones with Aussie rank on them I would get one for my Grandad (WWII vet). I think its a fantastic idea and Im sure you will do really well.
  21. Hiya Its Richardloz that uses non crystalizing palm. We can get it from Aussie Candle Supplies I am pretty sure I saw on there site the other day that they ship international but not sure....heres the site anyway. www.aussiecandlesupplies.com.au HTH
  22. Hiya To me there is nothing natural about candle wax regardless of its origins. I think the difference is sustainablility. One day we will run out of oil therefore to my understanding its not sustainable. The only reason I make candles out of soy and palm is soy washes out with water and soap and palm looks pretty. JMO Tammy
  23. That makes sense Jo. I just think its rude how much they try to charge. Tammy
