  1. Funny you should ask. I was wondering if they were still in business. At Christmas, I found a few samples from We Make Scents a friend had sent me some time ago. One was their Cranberry. I tried it in a melt. The scent is close to Yank**'s Cranberry Chutney, and strong & long-lasting. I remembered that I had tried their Raspberry before, and it was strong, too, which hasn't been the norm for that scent with ones I've tried. I also like their linen scent ( I can't think of the name right now-maybe Clean Sheets) I wondered why no else talked about their oils-they seem to be good quality. If you do try any, I hope you'll post about them. BTW, I tested in straight paraffin.
  2. It's been some time since I've used it, but it had a good throw in straight paraffin and was a very nice scent. Some apricots I've tried had a pukey note; Snowtop's didn't.
  3. I really like Peak's Ocean. The other water scents I tried smelled like men's cologne, or had floral notes. Peak's smells like water and fresh air.
  4. Most of Steve's scents that I use are seasonal, like the Cranberry Relish and Sugar Plum. I did just try his White Cake, and I really love it. I've only tested it in a melt so far, but it had a good throw and lasted a long time.. I've been looking for a white cake scent for a couple of years. Some had the cherry/ almond notes I don't like; others smelled good but had throw issues. I think I've finally found "the one". His Cinnamon Bun is good, too-a little hard to blend, but it has more pastry notes than others I've tried. HTH.
  5. I have glycerine- treated some leaves. There are lots of variables, so it can be a trial and error process. The condition & age of your material, temps when the material was cut and other factors can affect the outcome. The leaves/ branches should be cut from about June/Sept.-when they're not too young or too mature. Also, if you don't add dye to your glycerine solution, the leaves will generally turn brown. I've had pretty good results with ivy; other things I've tried, such as cedar, had about a 50% success rate. I hope to get around to trying other material this summer. HTH.
  6. I love gardening and grow my own flowers for dried wreaths, arrangements, topiaries, etc. and some for cut flowers. I also enjoy baking, and would like to learn cake decorating. I love to look at scrapbooking sites, even though I don't do scrapbooking yet. They have the neatest things. I sometimes use the accessories for other crafts, like bookmarks or bouquet decorations.
  7. I was thinking, too, that maybe they sent the Very Sexy For Her by mistake, but I've never smelled that version either. What makes it smell more feminine than masculine is a powdery note ( to my nose, anyway). The rest of the scent is fresh, kind of citrusy. Guess I'll have to make a trip to the mall to figure out which version I've got! It is a nice scent, regardless; it's from The Candlemaker's Store. Thanks for the replies.
  8. I got a sample of a Very Sexy for Men dupe, and to me, it smells more like a feminine scent. I've never smelled the real version; can anyone who has tell me if this is what it's supposed to smell like? Thanks for any help!
  9. Someone sent me a soy melt made with Tennessee Candle's Caramel Corn, and it smelled fantastic.
  10. I'm going to test a few scents in paraffin candles/tarts-Steve's White Cake (smells fantastic OOB), SoapSilly's Pineapple Fields and Guava Nectar, & Scent-Works' Just Ripe Banana. I don't know why I'm trying tropical scents in the dead of winter ! I've been on a 5 yr. quest to find a pineapple that doesn't smell synthetic, and have just about given up. It could be my nose that's the problem. I'm also going to make some men's car sachets (corn cob) for Valentine's Day. It's always harder to find gifts for men than it is for women.
  11. Scent Works' 'Provence' might work for you; it's hard to describe, but a really nice scent. It is clean & fresh, but doesn't have any soapy or masculine cologne notes- a very unique scent.
  12. I think The Scent Works' is the best.
  13. I haven't been able to find a marshmallow that I'm really happy with, either, but GenWax's was the closest. There have been some good reviews for AWE's also, but I havent' tried it. HTH.
  14. The Angel Food Cake from the Chermark section is a great bakery scent.
  15. Hi! I hope someone can help me. I've searched the archives, but can't find the info. There was a thread about white cake fo's, and someone recommended one from The Candlemaker's Store. On their site, there's a white cake, a wedding cake, and a cake bake. I need to place an order, and would like to try the oil the poster recommended, but don't remember the name. I'm trying to find one without the cherry/almond notes. Thanks.
  16. I like the Sugar Plum from The Candlemaker's Store; it's not spicy, and is similar to Yank**'s discontinued Sugar Plum.
  17. Peak's Ocean has no floral or cologne notes-very nice, clean scent.
  18. Chris, I'm very sorry to hear about your son's friend. Someone sent me a sample of Candlesoylutions' Popcorn scent, and it was pretty realistic. It didn't have that pukey note that ruins a lot of buttery scents. HTH.
  19. I haven't tried them yet, either, but have seen some great reviews for their Papaya Nectar and Heliotrope FO's. If you order, I hope you'll post some reviews. HTH.
  20. Their oils are good quality, and their customer svc. is top notch. The people are helpful and knowledgeable about the products. They have some really good bakery and coffee scents.
  21. Hi. I've seen clear labels at Staples, but no round ones.
  22. Hi. My favorite straight cranberry scent is Cranberry Relish from The Candlemaker's Store. Despite the name, there are no notes other than cranberry. I've tried it in 4 or 5 different paraffins, and it threw well in all of them. I was suprised at the throw, because the out of bottle smell doesn't seem that strong. Hope this helps.
  23. Another vote for Bluegrass' Coco Mango.
  24. These are some scents I like to use as perfume: Scent Works' Pink Sugar, Sweet Violet & Sassafras, & Provence, Daystar's Vanille Abricot, Soapsilly's Calabrian Bergamot & Violet and Vanille Coco type.
  25. I have the same problem as you with popcorn and other buttery scents-they have either the 'feet' smell, or a pukey note. Someone sent me a sample of a popcorn oil from CandleSoylutions, and it did not have either of those notes OOB or in a paraffin candle. They also have a lily of the valley oil that is very true to the flower. HTH!
