  1. Hi. I recently got a sample of Tres Magnifique, and to me, it is very, very close to Comptoir Sud Pacifique's 'Vanille Abricot' scent. It's just a little less fruity. It actually smells more like CSP's scent than Daystar's Vanille Abricot dupe! Anyway, whatever it actually smells like, Tres Magnifique is a fantastic scent-rich, warm and delicious not overtly 'foody'. It's one of the best scents I've tried in a long, long time. Definitely give it a try!
  2. I've been very happy with the quality of their oils. Their customer svc. is excellent as well.
  3. Hi! I was wondering how Day Star's Vanille Abricot compared to the original Comptoir scent. Have you ever smelled it? It is a really gorgeous scent, and if someone could dupe it, it would be worth it to me to pay more for the oil. I tried Scent-Work's vanilla-apricot type scent, and it wasn't the same. (They don't sell it as a dupe, but I was hoping it would be close). Please post after you pour the Vanille Banane-I've never smelled the original, but if it's anything like the apricot, it's probably wonderful, too. Thanks for the post.
  4. I'm not familiar with the cucumber scent you mentioned, but in case you can't find it, Candle Cocoon's 'Cucumber Chaos' is a good scent-very crisp and fresh.
  5. Scent-Works' Cabernet Sauvignon is very realistic. HTH.
  6. I liked BNL's Pomegranate-it had a slightly strawberry-ish scent, and an excellent throw. They've sold to BCN, but I'm not sure if they carry this scent or not.
  7. TC has some excellent scents, but I didn't care for their "Dirt". It didn't smell anything like dirt to me.
  8. The only realistic watermelon I've tried is GenWax's. All the others I've tried had a strange plastic-y or crayon note. GenWax's is not sweet like candy, just very fresh and crisp.
  9. I agree with the others about Candle Cocoon's Red Banana. It has a slight coconut note (to me, anyway) but is a wonderful, creamy scent. What's even better is that it has a great throw in paraffin, even though the OOB doesn't smell strong. SW's Just Banana is my next favorite. Taylored Concepts' and Bramble Berry's bananas are good, too, but more of the Laffy Taffyish scent.
  10. I'm on a 3 yr.+ quest for a good pineapple, and haven't found a perfect one yet. SW's is better than most, but still smelled a little artificial to me. I could just be too picky, though. In a paraffin candle, it had a med.-good throw. HTH.
  11. I've never tried RE's, but Chermark's AFC is a really good scent, and had a good throw for me in paraffin. I liked it because it didn't have the almond-y notes that some other white cake scents have.
  12. I never imagined a good pineapple scent would be hard to find, but I've tried a dozen or so, and none of them was what I'm looking for. I hadn't tried Ky.'s, but I guess I can cross it off the list. The ones I've tried don't smell bad-just not realistic. There's always a synthetic, artificial note that keeps them from smelling like a real pineapple. The closest ones were Genwax and Bluegrass Candle's oils. HTH.
  13. They have top-quality oils. I would definitely try some samples. HTH.
  14. I like Taylored Concepts' Coffee House. It smells like the specialty coffee house in our town. TC is known for their coffee scents, so even if you don't like Coffee House, try some of their other coffee oils.
  15. I agree with Gerrie about e-mailing the owners-they are very prompt in answering, and very helpful. The phone route didn't work too well for me, either. Hope things improve for you.
  16. I've tried quite a few, and my favorite to date is Taylored Concepts'.
  17. Genwax's Watermelon is the only one I've tried (and I've tried a lot) that didn't have the plastic note. It's not a sweet, candy smell, but a fresh, crisp watermelon.
  18. I love CC's Ginger Peach-it's one of the strongest oils I've ever tried. It is pretty heavy on the ginger, so sometimes I add peach to it.
  19. Pouring cooler, around 150 or so, and adding at least 25% J-223 or other similar wax eliminated the dips. I have a cool basement, so in winter I'd line up the molds on a warming tray while I was pouring them. Sometimes,a very slight dip still formed, but the heat gun would eliminate them. Without these steps, the dip would re-form after heat-gunning just as yours did. HTH.
  20. Definitely try the Fresh Baked Cookies!
  21. I've been trying to find a good pineapple for 3 years. The ones I've smelled-dozens of them-don't smell bad, they just don't smell realistic. BCN's Pineapple Cilantro wasn't too bad, but GenWax's and Bluegrass' smelled a little better to me. I'm still looking for the perfect pineapple, though. I'm starting to think maybe it's not a smell that can be duplicated exactly.
  22. My favorite plain cranberry is The Candlemaker's Store's (Steve's) Cranberry Relish. It's a fresh, tart cranberry, w/ nothing added. It has an excellent throw in paraffin, but I haven't tried it in other waxes.
