  1. Thanks for the info. I'm just going to order Clove or Cinnamon Clove FO. I know what I'm doing with FO.
  2. I believe I've seen that Candlescience uses essential oils in their FO's I was wondering about wicking candles with EO. I think I'll just stick to fragrance oils. Way less complicated.
  3. Now I'm learning that essential oils can be toxic for pets. I guess I should order some Clove fragrance oil.
  4. Never mind. I found my answer on WSP's website. Under questions about Clove Leaf EO.
  5. I bought some candles making supplies locally, and the lady talked me into buying a 16 oz bottle of Clove Leaf essential oil from WSP. I told her I had read that essential oils didn't work in candles, but she showed me a Clove candle she had made and said it was fine. Well the price was right for that expensive essential oil so I bought it. So I'm thinking I could use 1 part Clove EO to 4 parts Cinnamon FO, or thereabouts to make soy candles. Have any of you had success blending EO and FO in candles?
  6. Fragrance oil finder website shut down several years ago to my great dismay. Now I google fragrance oils; sometimes it helps.
  7. I love Fragrance Buddy. They have the best sales of any company several times a year; 20-25% off on FO which is all they sell. And free shipping over $100 BEFORE they deduct the discount. I use many of their oils. My nose must not be good at detecting fuel smells, because I don't get that with any of my FO's. And I don't pay attention to flash points. I ordered from Bittercreek once, and liked what I got, but now their shipping is just too expensive for me. Don't know why it cost $18 to ship a few bottles of FO. I have never ordered from Southern Scentsation. It's great you have a supplier 45 minutes away. My daughter or I drive about 2 1/2 hours to Ohio to pick up wax and jars. Saves a ton on shipping. Good luck on becoming a seller. I started a Facebook page for my candles around the end of 2014. and my business has grown so much because of it.
  8. Out of your eight bottle of lemon, was one of them Lemon Pound Cake from Fragrance Buddy? My customers and I love that one. Lemon Verbena from Flaming Candle is also very good. I use CD wicks too, in 444 wax.
  9. Good luck with that. If you succeed, tell us how you did it. On second thought, DON'T. I'm an addict but don't want to stop.
  10. I have used soy wax since I began making candles in 2009. I started out making them in cups like you do. Your main problem probably is your wick is too small. I know nothing about adding mica to wax. I use chips or liquid dye. I much prefer the liquid. As for sinkage, I leave a little wax in my pitcher. If I have sinkholes after the candles harden, I remelt a little wax and repour to fill in the craters. You can also use a heatgun. Dyed soy candles sink more than undyed; at least for me they do.
  11. Seems appropriate to make some Arctic Air candles on this freezing cold, snowing, wind blowing day. But I need a name so I can sell them all year round not just in the winter. Here is Mill Creek's scent description: Brilliant fragrance notes of eucalyptus, spearmint, wild rose and dew fresh ferns leading to snow pines, blue jasmine magnolia and white lilies finishing with a base of white musk, balsam and sandalwood. Right now I'm leaning toward Morning Dew. Thanks for any suggestions.
  12. I have been guilty myself of not contributing to the Fragrance reviews. I thought this was such a good idea when TallTayl started the forum because we are always asking for others' recommendations when we want to order from a certain company. I have only ordered from Lone Star once, and was thinking about ordering again. In the fragrance reviews section for them, there was only 1 review. So I am suggesting that we all start leaving reviews again because they are helpful I think.
  13. Could you please add Virginia Candle Supply? I am burning a Black Cantaloupe candle now, and it smells so good I would like to give it a good review.
  14. I and my customers like Rosemary Mint from Nature's Garden.
  15. I think it is a personal choice. Soy, paraffin, parasoy, the list goes on. When I started making candles in 2009, I researched online and finally settled on GW444 soy wax. I'm still using 444 all these years later. I never really experimented with other waxes, except once I bought GW464 because it was on sale. Maybe I should have tried other waxes, but 444 works for me.
  16. Sorry for anyone who has had issues with Fragrance Buddy, but to me they are top notch. I've only been disappointed with a couple of FO's but that is personal preference, nothing was wrong with the oils. Their Lemon Pound Cake is one of my best sellers, and I like many, many other scents. Can't beat their sales, and I'm happy to get free shipping with $100 order.
  17. Even though RE's shipping is so very expensive, there are some FO's I just have to order. I know Christmas is over, but Main Street Christmas may be my favorite Christmas scent of all I love the coffee scents; Pumpkin Spice Latte and Caramel Cafe. I need to order more Danish Butter Cookie, such a rich buttery cookie scent. Celtic Moon Spice is really good but it has gotten too expensive for me. Others I like: Caribbean Day Spa Tuscan Fields Baked Apple
  18. I looked at my list of FO's I've gotten from there through the years, and most of them were the specials and the free ones with $100 order. So I've been judging the quality/strength by those. I should try more of the regular priced FO's but some are so expensive. I'm going to have to look up some you mentioned. Thanks!
  19. Sometimes I drive from Indiana to Ohio to The Candlemaker's store to get wax and jars, but I haven't bought many of their regularly priced fragrance oils. Are there any others from there you've tried? They have sooooo many! I like their Snow Cream and Bamboo Rainforest.
  20. I did a google search and The Candlemaker's Store carries it. Someone said their dupes weren't so good, but I don't know. I have really liked a few from there but their free ones with $100 purchase and their special fragrances for $10 have mostly been underwhelming...you get what you pay for there. https://thecandlemakersstore.com/fragrances/fragrance-categories/yankee-types/dreamy-summer-nights-type.html
  21. No idea sorry. I've never seen any out of stock until recently; probably due to covid and Christmas. Sometimes the jars I want are out of stock. In fact, this year they're been out of stock for months because there is a nationwide shortage I've learned.
  22. I placed an order with them on the 7th. They are behind, so it is still awaiting fulfillment. I just called them to see if I could add wick stickers to my order. I wish I had gotten the lady's name. She saw my note about replacing 12 damaged lids from an order way back in January. So she added the wick stickers and is going to send me a dozen lids, and since I was wanting a replacement for damaged items, she is going to push my order through and get it shipped sooner! They post on their site which date's orders they are processing and they're up to the 4th. I needed some Cinnamon Chai asap so I am a happy camper! I just wanted to commend The Flaming Candle and the nice lady I spoke to. I love her accent too.
  23. Thanks Belinda, but I'll just wait on my backorder. At least my family and I have Leaves candles to burn. Gee, I don't like floral scents either. I hope you get to use FO's you actually like once in a while. I do sell a lot of Honeysuckle, Lily of the Valley and Lilac, so I have customers who like florals too. One asked about a Rose candle. I got a sample from Aztec and I think one from CS once, but I just don't know if I could stand to make Rose candles.
  24. What's wrong with your customers!?? I ordered more from Aztec; got my order today and Leaves is backordered.
  25. Yes I saw the price increased. I'm surprised it stayed at $10 for so long. I just checked my old orders and it was $8.00 a lb the first time I ordered it in 2017. Speaking of FB, they finally got power and opened back up over the weekend. I figured they would be way behind on orders, but I ordered Sunday and received my order today. It came in a large flat rate box, Which would be about $18 shipping, but I got free shipping over $100. I think FB is the least expensive place to order FO's since they have reasonable prices and free shipping. Plus I get a $5.00 off discount code to use on the next order. I got Pumpkin Sugared Donut this time instead of Pumpkin Cupcake because I have a customer who loves Pumpkin Sugared Donut.
