  1. I made some Rose Jam Lush type candles last night and I can hardly stand the smell. Ewww. I knew there was a thread somewhere about scents we hate and at first I couldn't find it. Then I searched the word 'nauseous' and there it was. Yes, Rose Jam almost makes me nauseous, but customers have asked for a rose scent. I like to smell real roses and that's it.
  2. @Lizzy I just finished up a bottle of Heaven Scent's Spiced Plum at Christmas time. People wonder about the shelf life of FO's. That one had to be about 11 years old.
  3. Or at least they are new to me. I've been making candles since 2009 and I'm just now hearing about these companies in Facebook groups. Little Bee Scents is one that some rave about, but I don't get it. To me the prices are astronomical but if people can and want to pay that much for FO, more power to them. A couple more are DOOP Fragrance Co. and Starlight Wholesale. There are more, but I can't remember the names. I guess these companies are taking the place of companies that have fallen by the wayside since 2009, like my favorite, Heaven Scent. I just wondered if any of you have added some new companies like these to your list of suppliers? Heaven knows I don't need any more suppliers, I'm just curious. There are many established suppliers I have yet to order from like Candle Cocoon and Cajun and New York Scents and Keystone and.... We are blessed to have so many choices here in the US.
  4. The Strawberry sounds good, but I still have 2 or 3 different strawberries from various companies. Strawberry scents don't sell very well for me. I like the Sweet Strawberry I got from Flaming Candle, but I think my favorite was Strawberry Shortcake I got from Candlescience several years ago.
  5. If I ever order from MC again, I'm going to get Oatmeal Cookie since you love it so much. I'm out of their Grandma's Kitchen but have to wait until I need others too. Besides my cabinets are so full of FO's I would have to find another place to put more, so I'm trying to slow down. You know how that goes.
  6. I have a list of 94 fragrances I've bought through the years from NG, not including samples. Some of these I like, some my customers like: Aloe & White Lilac Apple Cinnamon Apple Cinnamon Streusel Apple Mango Tango Apple Orchard Banana Bread Black Raspberry Vanilla Butt Naked Carrot Cake Christmas Cabin Clove Coco Mango Cottage Breeze Hansel & Gretel's House Home Sweet Home Hot Orange Danish Iced Cinnamon Rolls Juniper Breeze Lily of the Valley Monkey Farts Mountain Hazelnut Coffee Pearberry Pumpkin Apple Butter Rosemary Mint Seaside Cotton Tahitian Vanilla Tinsel Tropical Blast Water Lily & Jasmine Winter Candy Apple
  7. @Belinda I like to look all the time too. I'm sorry your customers mostly like Leather & Black Ice. The down side of living in Texas I guess.
  8. Candles wax used: Soy 444 fragrance load (%): 8% average cure time: 2 weeks Wax additives: none container size: 16 oz country comfort jar wicking notes: cd 20 Cold throw: fair Hot Throw: good This is a softer scent for spring/summer but I do love its smell. My favorite 'rain' fragrance so far. It's a Jo Malone type; I had never heard of Jo Malone until I bought this one and Lime Basil Mandarin from FC. Evidently this brand is very posh. Here is the scent description for Rain & Angelica: This light, fresh scent opens with top notes of clean citrus followed by sweet florals of jasmine and violets and rests on a base of cedar, sandalwood, musk, tonka, and light amber notes. Inspired by Jo Malone's Rain & Angelica, a scent in the London Rain collection. Notes: Top- citrus Middle - florals Bottom - cedar, sandalwood, musk, tonka, amber
  9. Hello! I wish I could hear your Scottish accent through your words on the screen.
  10. First, whenever I have called Flaming Candle through the years, I get right through. That in itself is a plus, since some companies don't even have a phone number as a way to contact them. And I've read that sometimes customers get no response to emails when trying to contact a company. The staff person I speak to is always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. A pleasure to talk to. I called this week to see if I could add an item to my order, which I had placed the night before. She took care of it for me. Actually it worked out very well, because she had to see if the wick stickers I wanted were in stock. I checked online while waiting and it showed they were out of stock. So if I had remembered to put them on my order the night before, I wouldn't have been able to. I'm glad I forgot. (They were in stock; just hadn't been updated yet online.) I just wanted to give credit where credit is due. I appreciate good customer service! Now if Flaming Candle would just have a sale once in a while. But I have to keep ordering a few FO's from them, because my customers like them so much.
  11. Just checked the vote tally and Candlewic still has none. Not one of my top 3, but I have liked several of their FO's through the years in soy candles. Hadn't ordered in a while until they recently had a sale. So I restocked my favorite Berry Tangerine. Also Apple Cider Donut, Sage & Citrus, Pecans & Pralines, and a new one, Coastal Cypress. It smells good OOB. Lots of other good ones too, I think.
  12. That's 2 votes for Nature's Garden. Thanks ladies! @ellajoan, I am the opposite. I have bought 94 difference fragrances from them through the years and have liked the vast majority of them. Just haven't tried their Green Clover & Aloe yet. I really 'need' to get some more of their Home Sweet Home by fall, and a few others, so I may try theirs.
  13. But I know you're up to the task! 🙂
  14. I have a customer who loves this fragrance. I've been using Flaming Candle's but I'm out. Thought I might buy more from a company I order from more frequently, but I don't if any others can compare to FC. Any opinions on the best Green Clover & Aloe?
  15. I get pretty good results just googling a fragrance oil name, putting it in quotes. For instance "black cherry merlot" fragrance oil
  16. I use 444 wax which is 98% soy. I usually leave a little wax in my pitcher in case I have to repour a little on top of the candles if there are 'craters' or sink holes or whatever you call them. Dyed wax is worse for this. You can also use a heat gun to smooth out the tops. Not sure what you mean by 'loose' though.
  17. I loved Fragrance Oil Finder. Now you made me sad all over again that it's defunct.
  18. Sounds like a keeper. I've never ordered from PFO but Sea Witch from Fragrance Buddy is my favorite oceany scent.
  19. @Belinda I had to count your suppliers. I got 51! Wowzers!
  20. I never heard of 16/17 so I googled it. They certainly have some unique fragrances but my goodness, they're expensive!
  21. TallTayl said she would add more by request. She added Aztec and Fragrance Buddy for me.
  22. First topic, very top in the fragrance discussion forum.
  23. @BenderSF, you're welcome! Alas, I am out of Cantaloupe & Lily, but am trying to refrain from ordering since my FO cabinets are FULL. Besides, maybe Aztec will have an anniversary sale in March again like they used to. One can always hope.
  24. My #1 might be Cantaloupe & Lily from Aztec. Or maybe Idgie Threadgoode from Muddy Soap. Others I really like: Peach Magnolia Raspberry (various suppliers) Berry Tangerine - Candlewic Black Chamomile - Virginia Candle Supply Oceanside Vetiver - Muddy Soap Backroads - Mill Creek Sea Witch - Fragrance Buddy Coco Mango - Nature's Garden Those are what I can think of now. Many of my customers like the floral scents, Lilac, Honeysuckle and Lily of the Valley especially. The only floral scents I like are combined with fruit notes.
