  1. Thanks Chris. I already have some 'just meh' FO's. I don't need any more. Even if they are a great deal. But there Mint Chocolate Brulee for an awesome price sure is tempting!
  2. I did one Holiday Bazaar that was very sparsely attended, so sales weren't great. I don't attend a lot of craft shows because I am the caregiver for my adult handicapped daughter, and can't get out much on weekends. I get most of my sales through Facebook now. Just today some random person ordered 6 candles. I don't know how he found me, maybe on our town's 'Chatter' site. Another lady ordered 20 candles after I posted on our towns Small Business facebook page. Yay! And the servers at IHOP swarm me every time I go in there, usually about once a week. I took some candles in there once for my cousin to smell, and the rest, as they say, is history. One server alone has bought over $100 of candles and melts since October. So all in all, I am happy with my sales. I just started another project today, making Christmas table runners, so I want to have some time to do those.
  3. I have enough fragrance suppliers too, but that's never stopped me yet. I just added Tennessee Candles to my supplier list this week. Darn Black Friday sales.
  4. I was doing a google search yesterday to try to find the cheapest deal on my GW444 soy wax and found EAP Innovations. Wow! Their price was the cheapest I've found ever. I ordered a case yesterday....and it came today! FedEx from Pennsylvania to Indiana. That was the ! part; now for the ? part. Have any of you ever tried their fragrance oils? I was so impressed with their price on wax and their quick delivery that I would like to try their FO's. But in 6+ years of candle making, I've never heard of them, and have never seen their name mentioned on this board. Just wondering if they are one of those 'best kept secrets'.
  5. I was wondering about their scent specials as well. I am leery of bargain oils based on some I have ordered before. On the other hand, some of the best oils I ever got were from Bert, and all her oils were bargains.
  6. Pumpkin Pecan Waffle? I have only tried one, from Cierra Candles, and I LOVE it. Strong in soy wax, and smells wonderful to me.
  7. I have a new favorite Pumpkin......Pumpkin Pecan Waffles (BBW type) from Cierra Candles. So delicious smelling, and strong!!
  8. I still have some of Bert's Fall Harvest, but it is really old. 5 or 6 years old. I keep smelling it to try and figure out if it's still good.
  9. Thanks everyone! You guys are good! The color of the candles turned out to be an 'autumn' looking color, (bright butterscotch) so I think I'll go with Autumn Spice. I like a lot of your suggestions.
  10. That would work except Mill Creek's Hillbilly homebrew doesn't smell like cider. There is no apple in it at all. It's supposed to have spiced plum. but all I smell are spices.
  11. Candybee, if my memory serves me correctly, and sadly, often it does not, I believe it was you who told me about mixing CS Pumpkin Souffle with some Pumpkin Pie FO and a little Cinnamon FO. I tried that last year and it was very good.
  12. Thanks Trappeur. I actually did a search on just "hillbilly homebrew". Several mentioned changing the name but didn't say to what. So I tried rename hillbilly homebrew and found a thread, but the suggestion was Appleberry Oak, and the Mill Creek FO doesn't smell at all like apples. It's a different fragrance all together than most suppiers' Hillbilly Homebrew from the scent descriptions I found. It kind of smells like Hansel and Gretel's House from CS I think. Oh well, I'll come up with something.
  13. Evidently MC's Hillbilly Homebrew FO is different from other suppliers. It's not a mulled cider scent. The description reads "Red hot cinnamon sticks accented with toasted pecans and spiced plums." Now I don't know what moonshine smells like, but I don't think this is it. I'm thinking Harvest something or Autumn something.... Any suggestion?
  14. Thanks everyone. I had decided I DID NOT need any more fragrance oils, but then Aztec went and announced a sale and they have Sage, so I'm going to get some and try blending. I have used the Qtip method before Old Glory, but not trying a 2 to 1 ratio with 2 Qtips of one fragrance and 1 Qtip of another. That's a good idea.
  15. The Caramel Pecan Pie is yummy so I'm going to buy some more. Plus right now in my cart: Hyacinth and Caribbean Breeze because they're at a special intro price Plumeria Forever Red Sage Also maybe Blueberry Cobbler because of all the rave reviews there, but I do love the Blueberry Cobbler I ordered from Cierra Candles. Has anyone tried Aztec's Plumeria or Forever Red?
  16. I bought a couple of pounds of FO from the Candlemaker's store, just because they were so inexpensive; Citrus and Blackberry Well I'm not crazy about either of them, but I just had this bright idea. If there was such a thing as straight Sage FO, I could try blending it with them. I had already thought about blending some Vanilla with the Blackberry. So I looked on fragranceoilfinder.com and sure enough there is such a thing as plain Sage. I smelled some Citrus and Sage at the Candlemaker's Store and really liked it. But I am kind of leery about trying to blend my own. So I thought I'd see if any of you have had success blending Sage with other fragrances.
  17. I did see that about the Raspberry Mousse. I've looked at the Tennessee Candle website several times, but I'm going to try to wait awhile before I buy anything else.I'll keep the raspberry tangerine in mind too from Cierra. I've ordered from there once and really liked the FO's I got.
  18. Oh, I just remembered, I was looking for some sort of Raspberry FO, but none I smelled really knocked my socks off.
  19. I looked on google maps and discovered that The Candlemaker's Store was only about 2 hours and 15 minutes from my house.I decided to stock up on wax and jars, and wanted to visit the Warehouse Outlet, and smell some FO's. Plus, they're having a sale now until the 13th. (If this is allowed, the code is on their Facebook page.) My cousin rode with me and we stopped in Greensburg, Indiana to pick up my aunt, then in Harrison, Ohio at the Cracker Barrel. I had this trip all planned out. As you probably know, they have over 1,000 FO's. There weren't 1000 samples to sniff, but we did sniff a bunch. Some of them didn't seem strong to me, but it's hard to tell sometimes when you're smelling so many. I buy so much other stock from Steve, I wanted to find some more FO's I like. So far the only ones I've really liked are Snow Cream, Lavender Vanilla, Cinnamon Sugar, and one specially priced one; Granny's Pumpkin Pie. Haven't been impressed with any of the other 'cheap' ones I bought. I also liked Fireside and Pink Sands OOB; haven't used them yet. I got a few samples in my last order and really liked the Freesia OOB so ordered a 16 oz bottle. Yesterday I was looking for some fragrances unlike those I already have, so didn't sniff too many food/bakery ones. However, I was looking for something to compare to CS's Caramelized Pralines, but nothing I smelled came close to being as good. Here are the ones I liked and intend to order in the future; my aunt and cousin also liked them, so three noses agreed: Sage & Citrus....definitely! Juniper Breeze Bamboo Rainforest Gardenia (I liked this one OOB better than Peak's) Mango Pomegranate Lavender Fields I did buy one specially priced bottle at the outlet. Botanical Breeze...out of the several available, this is one I really liked. Also the Almond smelled just like Almond Extract, but I didn't need any. One last note, my cousin just had to smell the Bacon FO....she said "smell"...then started literally gagging, still holding the bottle out for me to smell. I said "No way!" I mean, she was about to get sick, but then my curiosity won out and I smelled...ewwww, it was awful! Kind of smelled like really strong bacon bits. Not like that delicious bacon smell that wafts out to your nostrils when you open the door to Bob Evans in the morning. The guy who helped me (maybe Steve; I didn't ask his name) said if I ever wanted to smell a specific fragrance, to let them know before I come next time since they only have I think he said 250 samples out to smell out of their 1000. He also spent a long time helping a young lady who was just getting into making candles and had a lot of questions. She also asked me some. And since I had just bought a sample of Patchouli and made a candle for a friend who asked for one (haven't given it to her yet) I asked her if she liked Patchouli. Turns out she does and even wears it for perfume. So I had her smell a sample bottle to see if it smelled like Patchouli is supposed to smell like (I had no idea). She said it did...so there's my review of Patchouli from The Candlemaker's Store. (When I made the candle, I didn't hate it. So different smelling from anything I've made. Sort of like men's aftershave maybe.) So there you go...out of the 1000 available fragrances at The Candlemaker's Store, my take on, oh, around 20 of them.
  20. That's what I'm wondering. I've only ordered from them once, and have only one of their FO's which is English Ivy. Makes lovely smelling soap. A friend bought some once and now wants me to make some more of that fragrance. I do like all the reviews on their site, so am ready to order 3 fragrances, plus some wax since their shipping is so reasonable. I couldn't figure out why, then saw that the shipping charge reflected a 20% off discount. So 3 bottle ofs 16 oz FO, 2 packs of clamshells, 2 rolls of warning labels, and some liquid dye was only $9.70 shipping. I added a 50 lb case of wax, which only increased the shipping by $20. Usually shipping is almost $30 for a case of wax for me. Also like the fact that the price of their FO's is so reasonable. Plus someone here once did a survey on the top suppliers and Nature's Garden came in at #3 after Peak and Candlescience. I guess I didn't do you much good on picking out FO's after all that though, did I? I'm going to check some more of their FO reviews myself before I click on that 'submit order' button.
  21. Thanks for your responses. Since I've received two good reviews on Nature's Garden Eggnog, here and in a facebook candle group, I think I'll try it. Cierra has a 10% off sale, but Nature's Garden's shipping is cheaper. I consider all the variables. That's why it takes me so long to make a decision.
  22. My son wants an eggnog candle, so I've narrowed the supplier down to Cierra Candles or Nature's Garden. I also need some more Sugar Cookie. I loved Sugar Cookie Dough from Indiana Candle Supply but they don't carry Eggnog. Nature's Garden has good customer reviews for both their Eggnog and Sugar Cookie. I've ordered from Cierra once and did like all the fragrances I received. Plus they have a 10% off sale going on now. What to do, what to do?
  23. Thanks Old Glory. If I had to choose only one fragrance for the rest of my life, it would be apple pie, so I will try the Aztec and not blend it next time. I use GW444, so it shouldn't be that different.
  24. So you would say that the Apple Pie has a strong HT Old Glory? I am so in love with RE Baked Apple (HI type) that Aztec's Apple Pie smells weak OOB to me when I smell them both. I'm running low on my RE Baked Apple and just hate to order more right now. I've already ordered so much lately and that's the only thing I really want from RE. I may have to use my Aztec Apple Pie instead. I blended the two for my last batch and the candles smell good but I haven't burned one yet.
  25. Whew!! Glad you were pleased for the most part. I felt the awful pressure of being the reason you ordered from them. Your reviews will come in handy should I order from Cierra again.
