  1. it makes a great candle though, alone or mixed with soy!
  2. The Cabernet is a really popular scent for me. Also, sweet potato pie, smells really good, but I renamed mine for it to sell for some reason. Also, their Butt Naked is also a good one.
  3. not too thrilled with the labeling though. Wonder how they burn?
  4. It's always best to lid a candle and contain a tart for best cold throw. It doesn't really affect the HT, but CT is necessary for a good sell.
  5. at first everything is fun and intriguing (no spell check here). But after awhile when you have something down pat, it's not finding the time to do it on a continual basis, that makes everything a grunge. If I could just dedicate more hours in a normal day, I would find the whole process more enjoyable once again. When you don't have the time to really try new things, it becomes more of a project than anything else.
  6. good topic - I have candles dyes from several suppliers and all mine have a real strong chemical smell. I don't know where to get more
  7. I do that all the time. Wait and wait for supplies to come, and then I just sit there and stare at them for a while. I've had so many disappointments on wicking etc in the past, I just have to get a grip before I try something new. Also, even though I have a designated room for doing all the mixing and such, I feel like I should be doing something else, or am afraid of the mess I'll make. I need therapy...
  8. I pay my sales reps (not in the candle business part of things) 15% of a discount rate I offer my customers. If the reps only sell one unit and the customer is paying a bigger amount, the rep still gets the commission of the lower rate. This encourages them to sell more to the customer to get more in commission. I hope this makes sense.
  9. there is no recession when it comes to the bridal planning. Boy oh boy, you aren't kidding. Bridal type businesses are the way to go!
  10. I just did 70 favors for my daughter's bridal shower in the 4 oz. hex jars with a personalized label - their picture and the wedding date. They turned out pretty nice. they are substantially bigger than the 2 oz. tins.
  11. I got a sample size of glas glow from Aztec and it turned out really nice. DOn't have a camera that works, but the candle is underwicked and is leaving a pretty shell on the glass with the flickering flame through it and looks really cool. Does anyone do that deliberately?
  12. THere is one thing that I have learned dealing with over 300 people a month in my primary business...if someone is a real creep to you, they usually are to everyone they deal with. I would contact your local newspaper or a small paper in the area and see if they can do a special interest story on your product, or invest in a nice advertisement. It would be iffy if you could mention that your candles were formerly stocked in the carpet store where they were, that would be up to the paper doing the article. Your primary goal is to get back your former customers along with of course new ones. Do flyers, try a website. Don't let the creep destroy you. What goes around, comes around, I guarantee that.
  13. Well that is something I will look into for sure, thanks! I have used the 6006 too, I mix it with some other things for my smaller jars. It is a good wax too, I just found it sooted for me a bit more than I liked. But, it makes a nice candle!
  14. There's nothing nicer than a flickering candle in a suitable vintage container (THAT'S NOT DIRTY - AS I'M SURE COMFORTSCENTS WOULDN'T USE). Just underwick for safety reasons. And mark on the container, this vase has not been approved for candle use, or something to that effect to alert the customer they are burning at their own risk.
  15. My candles ended up turning out really nice with this wax. Hopefully they will get some cases in stock soon. I like it better than mixing and mixing my own blend.
  16. Exactly. I think people just get so excited, they don't think straight.
  17. Hmmmm....I ordered it over the phone not the website and as we were hanging up, I remembered I wanted to try some. Instead of researching it there, I looked thru everything here. It just looks to me after burning like more pariffin than soy. I'm a little nuts here right now, so maybe that's just the problem. Thanks
  18. I've been reading past posts until I'm now cross-eyed. I just want to make sure that... TN 70/30 is 70% pariffin and 30% soy. I bought a slab of it to try, thinking it was the opposite and noticed it appeared to be much more pariffin-like that soy. AM I CORRECT? It's good for the small 4 oz. hex's though, want my bigger candles to be more soy....back to my own blend
  19. I found those pans for bars in Walmart. They're individual compartments that I use for my M & P. YOu have to make sure the soaps are really cool though to get them out. Sometimes I have to tap with one of those soft hammer things.
  20. Ok - I see...I just would never do that. I'd just laugh...
  21. Your words must have worked. I ordered some wicks and am going to try the 70/30. Ordered it on Wed. -got the order today! They were fine with me.
  22. I pay for a .com and a .net and I think it runs $70 some dollars a year. I have 5 pages with it and do absolutely nothing to use it. I've done that for at least 5 years. I will attempt something this summer when my daughter is finally out of school.
