  1. Thinking of trying the EBC as well. My shea butter is working fine, but I'm intrigued with trying all the original ingredients. I found the recipe under Melt and pour in a previous post. It was a thread started with recipes I believe.
  2. I added some stearic to my container candle blend. What I mix up is a bit soft, but good burning and has a great throw. The stearic seemed to knock down the scent throw a bit, but what amazed me was I had less mushrooming on the wick. Noticeably different. I wicked 6 different fragrances. All less mushrooming....Hmmm
  3. I mix 4627 with C3 and I get an immediate cold and hot throw. As soon as the candle sets up, I'm burning it away!
  4. LOL...If anything in my life was simple, I would be very boring. I ended up ordering some CDN's from Candle Cacoon(?) and they were twice the price of JBN. Going to switch to CD's. I love the eco wicks -but I don't get a good hot throw with them...
  5. The shea butter is the one I'm using. ALso got the soy but haven't tried that yet.
  6. what is SLSA is that the shaving soap?
  7. I'm thinking of converting to the CD's as well. They've been out of them way too long!
  8. They have been out of the cdn's (forever) according to their website. Are they ever going to get any in??????? I called them and they didn't want to answer the question.
  9. I use the shea butter base. You could throw in some castor oil. I did add that to mine because I had it, and the lather is fine.
  10. I would make the initial call back and then explain that you prefer to conduct further correspondences via email, unless of course they want to make the calls to you. People just don't realize the costs and how they add up.
  11. Thanks for the response. I tried the mixology you suggested and it's fine now. It is canned goats milk. I don't think I was heating it up enough. I made some of the formula last week and I have to say PA that after using your soap recipe for a few days, I was actually able to leave the house without moisturizer. THE FIRST TIME IN 20 YEARS! Fabulous recipe!
  12. I have white lumps popping up in my M&P -I tried PA's recipe. Is it the goat's milk curdling?
  13. Just watch when you get near the bottom, sometimes wicks not anchored want to flap around a bit
  14. in my combo of C3 and 4627 I have discovered that my CD's burn a bit hotter than the CDN's. I have to wick down for the CD's (this recently with Bananna Nut Bread FO) A CDN 12 is good, a CD 12 is too hot.
  15. I noticed on a website "warming scents" All you do is add water to the product and use on a warmer. Has anyone ever made these for their product line?
  16. Using around 9% FO in a C-3 and 4627 combo...I think some of my candles are too strong! Should I remelt them, add some more combo without FO and repour? So many want candles to blow them out of the room, but I myself have started to choke a bit.........? Is it just me?
  17. I wouldn't bother to sue. I would post her name so no one else will send her anything unless it's paid in full. As long as you have the proof of what you are saying (and I'm sure you do), I don't see a problem in letting EVERYONE know who it is.
  18. I've had no trouble with any of the scent throw from NG oils. Some I don't care for, but all have thrown well in my parasoy blend. I think the wick has something to do with it. I use CDN's, wanted to use the ECO, but the scent throw was weak with them.
  19. my accountant told me 1 1/2 times your annual gross sales. But, I think that depends on the type of business, the location, what reputation your business has established. That is a big thing - reputation and reliability.
  20. Liability for candles can be fairly cheap. My candle insurance is somewhere between $500-600 a year. The major insurance companies like State Farm, Erie etc. don't seem to like to go there with candles. I have a policy through Ohio Casualty.
  21. I mix the pumpkin crunch cake with Pumpkin souffle from Candlescience for a great mix. I love NG FO's but the crunch cake is a little too sweet by itself for me.
  22. I use CO for scent throw only. Frosting seems to be (on my end) clusters of little, little bubbles when heated up with the heat gun. If you make sure all the bubbles are gone (stir the candle after it's poured) when you are pouring, you may eliminate most of the problems. I make sure my containers are squeaky clean. With that said, my next candles will now all be frosted....
  23. publishing - advertising. WHen I tried to get liability insurance they asked me if I preferred a $10,000 or $25,000 ded. What a hoot. That was years ago, couldn't even imagine what it would be now.
  24. This is a fairly new problem. They didn't crack before and I can't think of what I'm doing differently to cause this. The only different thing I've used is a different UV additive. My old additive was YELLOW and grainy - the new additive is WHITE and powdery. I called the company about that and they told me they never had a yellow grainy UV inhibitor. Also, I've noticed that the throw isn't quite as good. If I wasn't using UV stuff, what the heck did they send me the first time?
