  1. Try a TABLESPOON of Coconut oil and a bit of soy like C3 if you have it
  2. OKAY. I get a few poured, maybe a dozen or so, get them off to the store (2 stores sell them - never intended to sell any of them initially) and before I can get back to work on my job that pays the bills, I get calls that they need more candles. I'm not sure how to organize everything. Probably just pour an inventory of several dozen to keep head of the game. THANKS!
  3. How do some of you organize your time to get your candles done. Do you pour an inventory of one fragrance at a time or what? How many do you usually pour at one time? Just curious....
  4. just remember...laser print is heat set and the print will remain set whereas an ink jet is cold (wet) and labels will smudge easy, long after they're printed.
  5. I think they are very strong FO's...haven't had a weak one yet. And their prices seem to a lot higher than other suppliers as well.
  6. I can have a perfect candle and as soon as it goes outside when it's cool or even when the house cools down at night - here comes the wet spots! You can't really avoid them. Can't stand remelting the wax with the heat gun.
  7. I took a short road trip to Nature's Garden (over 2 hours) - love their FO's! You aren't going to go wrong there.
  8. I never had to worry about curing time for 4627. They smell great right from the beginning.
  9. For my 3 inch jars I use cdn 12,14,16, depending on the scent
  10. I don't account for the co weight. In other words, I make enough to fill my containers and the co is extra - it only makes a small bit of difference when you pour. I never have to repour. If you're making a lot of candles at one time you may have to consider that and the total amount of co you are adding. I only make 4 candles at a time. I'm very small time! I add the co before I pour it from my presto pot into my pour pot and right before the fragrance.
  11. Someone asked me to make them a warm vanilla sugar cookie candle. I have sugar cookie from NG. Would a bit of Mexican Vanilla work with that, or does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks,
  12. I have been in a non-candle business for 10 years now and I deal with a lot of big customers in my line of work, so I can say this with a big voice- Unless you made a contract with him that you would sell your candles exclusively in his shop, then I would tell him to hit the bricks for even mentioning to you that you were selling your candles elsewhere, or he'd better be selling enough to pay the mortgage, the electric bill, the gas bill, etc., etc. $100 minimum a month??? That covers maybe 6 bottles of FO!!!! Candle making and selling is your business...don't let ANYONE tell you how you're going to run it. Whoaaaa....no one would even dare to ask me!!!!
  13. I just can't do 4627 alone - I miz it with C3 and use CDN wicks. I have mushrooms but no soot.
  14. I got the cheesecake one from NG and even though it's okay mixed, when I tried it seperately it smelled like a cheap candle. Is it just me?
  15. Do all of it! Prewash, preheat and slow cool! Big difference!
  16. It makes the wax softer and because I use soy and 4627, I have an extra creamy candle. It hardens up enough to keep the wick up and all but there is a definite difference. The candle sets up quicker as well. Alone, CO seems to melt quite easy - even sticking it by a light melts it in the jug, but I didn't find that in the finished candle at all. I would think it would bring down the total burn time a bit but I just take a general notation not specifics in how many hours of burn there are in the candles.
  17. ...work great when cleaning up wax spills. I have found they work particularly well in cleaning up gooey 4627.
  18. It depends on the scent. I have found that I need to go up a size in some scents by adding more CO and with other scents, I have to go down a size. Never more than 1 size so far. I use the cdns.
  19. JS Grandma's Kitchen also seems to be similiar to Peaks Amish Harvest, just not as strong
  20. I honestly believe that CO makes a difference in the CT and the HT in candles, either with pariffin or without, but a little bit doesn't make a whole lot of difference.
  21. I love the steadiness of the eco and the lx wicks but I also don't seem to get the best throw with those wicks. If I could get the scent throw I get with cds and cdns and the stability of the lx or eco, that would be the wick!
