  1. LynnS -did you try Early American Candle Company in Allison Park PA? He's got tons of jars. I get my jj's there.
  2. Yes, you're right, suppliers can screw up too. But, eyeballing your bottles is always a good starting point. The odds or the likelihood that ALL suppliers are going to short you is pretty high, but I'm sure it happens on occasion.
  3. NO matter what shade of purple I use with Lilac, I get a gray discoloration, and I didn't think it was a heavy oil. I would assume you could determine the heaviness of a FO by inspecting the bottle it comes in. If it's filled to the brim - it would be a lighter weight oil. If it appears not to be filling up the whole bottle it would be a heavier oil. This based on a net weight. I notice this when I get several samplers. Does this make sense?
  4. I can't even leave the house without unplugging all the outlets...I could never light a candle and leave!
  5. Have to order other things from Candlescience...I'll try that one first.
  6. If you go to one of the websites listed on the first post www.dollartree.co/floral-dec the name for that jar is Rocks Glass Candleholders, 4" (sorry it's candleholders not containers)
  7. I "THINK" you can get lids for those Rocks Glass Containers 4" from Early American Candle Supply. Aren't those what I thought were called status jars?
  8. Thanks So Much For This Info!
  9. Does anyone know who carries a sweet Mulberry scent? I have some from Peaks and it seems to me to have a lot of pine scent to it. Or, what could I mix it with to help lighten it up a bit? Thanks!
  10. Haven't tried 464 but I have C3 and CO. I don't think your problem is the CO. I mixed 80% C3 with USA and added 20% solid CO. Wicked with CDN. The CT/HT is excellent, immediately! Was able to test after setting up without curing. So far so good, but I'm sure I'll find something wrong with it eventually. It is quite soft and would probably be prone to finger pokes. Trying to imitate a candle I bought that was at least part soy with very soft almost a vasoline-type consistency with an amazing CT/HT. (I figured if someone could make a candle out of bacon grease (former thread here) without an explosion, I could try one with this much CO - something different.
  11. The Lily Pad or just "Lily Pad"...I like either one of those!
  12. I thought with it getting warmer that my hot throw would be better. When it didn't appear that way, I blamed it on the air from the open windows and doors. Now I'm wondering if it's what you're indicating. I'm trying 4627 again with 10% FO, and I have to be in close proximity to smell them!
  13. Thanks...that makes a lot of sense to me. Some of these scents I could MAYBE go down one size, but I think I will stick to the bigger size wicks as I plan on doing candles for Christmas gifts. Is the sun ever going to shine here??????
  14. Stella - big difference in air temperature - just 10 degrees or so. I can't maintain temperature control unfortunately. I barely can for all my office computers. I'm in Western PA and one day it's 85 and the next it's 55. A nightmare. That would create issues for those who wick candles in the summer for Christmas use, wouldn't it?
  15. I switched the percentages around and I THINK I have a good candle now. Only in the small square mason jar. I cannot wick the 16oz. large mouth mason (Kerr - plain ones) and I have a million, gazillion, of them here! I have tried everything except the premier or hemp wicks in my LM jars with 4630/c-3 blend. I like the throw of the 4630 and the c-3 added makes the blend just a bit creamy, not so opaque. I love the cdn's but the smallest I can get is a cdn 8 are they are too big for the small square mason (except for FO lemon verbena), so I switched to the HTPs for everything else...just cannot get the LM jars to work. But after months and months and MONEY invested, I can see how things do start to work....eventually, at least in part. Does anyone else notice that you have to wick-down when you use a heavier dye? (block-kind)
  16. Thanks Stella....tried the 14's and still don't have a full meltpool (6th burn I'm to). I swear, a 10 degree drop in temp make my candles burn differently.
  17. Question....changed my wick from a CDN 12 to a CDN 16 because the flame was bouncing around. The meltpool and the scent throw was better with the smaller wick, but the stability of the wick was better with the larger wick...should I say it didn't wave around. Using a mix of C3 and 4630 in 16 oz. wide-mouth mason. What would you use? I'm thinking the cdn 16 was melting down more than melting outward. Thanks
  18. I the way I did it (and still do - and the savvy ones here can correct me...please) is to figure out how much wax will fill the particular container I'm using. If I'm using an 8 oz. container, I only want to melt 6.5 ozs. (I weigh it on my mail scale) and then figure out the portions of my additives. There is a way where you can weigh the container empty, fill it with water to the point where you will pour the wax, and then weigh it again. This should tell you the weight of the wax you need to melt. I don't use that method. I don't weigh my FO - I use Tablespoons and teaspoon measurements. 2 Tbsp. is about one oz. FO. The 6.5 (you can always melt more wax- 7 ozs. for good measure) will allow for a second pour if you need it. OKAY PROFESSIONALS! YOU CAN CORRECT ME HERE...I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW AS WELL!
  19. Just remember...you're in business to make money, and there are plenty of people out there who take advantage of everyone and everything they can. Be emphatic at the get go about your policies...particularly about payments. If they want to go elsewhere because they don't want to pay you when YOU want paid, than more than likely, you'll be the one screwed. I find it's individuals with the big bucks that can be the worst.
  20. If it's the same "scentsations" I ordered from.....NOPE!
  21. Has anyone tried adding CO to pariffin? I tried it and it enhances the scent throw and seems to make for a better burn. Also, has anyone ever tried J360 from Early American Candle? I think it's their own blend.
  22. Regarding the bumpy appearance after burning the C-3. It's better after the 3th burn, still there somewhat. I think I underwicked the containers. Thanks!
  23. About C-3...it never seems to be smooth on the top after burning. And, it wants to tunnel. Is this common and will the wax catch up as the candle burns down?
