  1. I have to agree with barncat. You might want to wait on this one. A trade show takes a lot of planning. You have to look professional. A sheet draped over a table won't work here. This is going to be a huge expense. You will need to write large orders and then meet the deadline for them. Do as barncat said and go to the show as a shopper. Observe other booth set ups and then plan your set up, and have it organized and ready for the next opportunity. Your potential customers will be able to tell right away if you put this together in a hurry. Even if you were able to write a lot of orders, if you can't get them done in time, you will loose business.
  2. I don't know what kind of wax you are using, but some container waxes will shrink as they cool. I use wick bars to hold my wicks in place. This will keep your wick from tipping over as the wax cools. The wicks that are straight, I would just do a repour to top them off. The ones that are off center could be straightened with a heat gun if they aren't off center too far down. You could use a candle warmer to melt the wax and center them up, hold them with a wick bar of pencil or something until they cool again. Hope I helped and didn't confuse! Misty
  3. I use the room spray/ body spray base, and I like it a lot. It's cheaper than cyclo, and fo's mix well in it.
  4. It was on the monthly staement. Hidden in their usual "did you know we offer this service" kind of message. I thought it was sneaky of them since I rarely pay attention to this box. I wonder how much money they ended up getting out of people who, like us didnt even notice it, until it was charged to our account and cleverly wasn't refundable. I was ticked, but fortunately, I caught it on the first month.
  5. I use aluminum duct tape. It works great. Just be sure to pour at 160 or lower as it will leak at higher temps.
  6. I usually don't heat my jars unless they are really cold. Then I put them on top of my melter while it is melting my wax. They warm up that way. But I only need to do this if they are sitting out in the cold in storage during fall/winter months. My wax melter is a large 65 pounder.
  7. Where did you get that mold. Is that a silicone liner or funky foam. I want one with a silicone liner, but I need a certain size.
  8. It's been 10 years for me. I'm like Robin. I take mine on trips too.
  9. No frosting, and I haven't noticed any inconsistency in batches, which is why I had to stop using Joy wax.
  10. Well, I can't vouch for the GL 70/30, but I do use KY Perfect Blend, and I like it. It colors well, and has good hot and cold throw.
  11. I used this wax years ago. It does throw, and color well. The reason I changed was the repours. Doing this as a business, for me, means finding the least labor methods. I found that it required more than one repour, which means more labor, more time, more money.
  12. I use a coffee grinder. You can get it to a powder consistency.
  13. Ewax is an emulsifier. It is usually in bead form. Use it in lotions etc. to bring together oils and water.
  14. I use CD wicks, and the largest I have seen is a 22. Would they sell you a sample?
  15. Well, it depends on what wax, wick and container you are using. If your wick is too small, you may not get a good throw. Let us know what you are working with. It could just be your wax, or the fragrance you are using just may not throw well. So many things, so let us know.
  16. Wow, what a beautiful place. I love the awning, and the style of the windows makes it look nice and formal. Best of luck!!!
  17. I have always used .5 oz of fragrance per pound of soap. My soap always seems to have a good strong smell. I do use mostly sweetcakes FO's though.
  18. I started out with a parifin blend in the seventies. Then about ten years ago started trying soy, but couldn't get the look and throw that I wanted. Then joy wax came out and I loved it but they changed their formula. I need consistency. Now I use KY perfect blend, I'm sticking with it unless they change it because I'm just pray I won't have to go through testing another wax. I'm not fond of changing wax.
  19. Yes, they are waterproof, and they are very high quality.
  20. The closest I have found are in Pa. Candlewic and Candles and Supplies
  21. So, how do get your soap out of these molds? I bought some and got 8 lbs of soap stuck in them. I ended up having to force the sides of with a knife, ruining the log of soap. Did I do something wrong?
  22. I have looked this over, and ordered samples. I am strongly considering the LX400. I want to get the labels and get them wet, and mabe put some lotion on them and see how they do. This would save me alot. I would also be interested in knowing how easy their label program is to use.
  23. I would love one of these, but am wondering what program the labels would need to be done in. Also how waterproof the labels are. I know most label companies want labels made in corel or adobe photoshop etc., so I don't see any reference except windows, and mac. I'm sure it's me being blind again. Anyone see it?
