  1. I use the aluminum tape also. I pour at around 160, so it's not too hot going in. Too high temps will melt right through the adhesive on the tape. I found 160 degrees works for me.
  2. The griddle is way too slow because it only heats the bottom of the pitcher. Ask me how I know. I get these genious ideas, and then I act on them before I think it through. It will work, I would put my money in a super fast presto pot. hth Misty
  3. I use weighted ounces. I would weigh out 1.5 oz. to 16 oz of weighed wax. Misty
  4. I tried it straight, and I can't get any hot throw at all. It's just not as soft as it was. I didn't notice the cracking yet, but I only tried one candle of joy alone. I have used this wax since it was put on their website, and I can tell it is just not the same.
  5. Has anyone purchased joy wax lately? If so, do you notice a difference? I purchased 6 cases last month, and I am getting terrible frosting. I have used joy wax since it was first introduced. I found it a little soft, so I mixed it equally with soy, and had a great wax blend. I have used it ever since. I emailed them and told them that the wax had been changed, and that I thought they should at least let their customers know that they had changed it. Now i'm sitting on 6 cases that I'm not sure how to work with, and a fundraiser due next week. They tell me that the formula has not changed. But others on the Scent review board are having the same problems.
  6. I offer a 12 oz candle that sells for 12.00. My normal wholesale price for this is $6.00, but I charge 7.00 per candle for fundraisers because I provide selling brochures, and deliver the product. So, I charge $7.00 for each candle they sell, they get to keep $5.00 for each candle.
  7. I do use some of them. They are expensive, but the ones that I use, I just can't find a comparison for anywhere else. I just don't want to sacrifice that quality in my products. If you order 5 lbs of a fragrance, they send it in a plastic gallon jug. This does save on shipping.
  8. I send out my fundraising info to the schools by the first of August. I find that most decisions are made early in the year. I send a cover letter, photos of the candles, and a copy of the packet that I provide for selling. Misty
  9. Hi When using goats milk, I count it as my water. Let's say I use 2 Lbs of water in my recipe. I use a 12 oz can of goats milk, so I subtract those 12 oz from my 2 lbs. This leaves me with 20 oz of water. I mix my water with my lye, and add the goats milk right before I add this mixture to my oils. Hope I make sense. Misty
  10. Hi Is this for printing them, or designing them? Thanks
  11. Denise I have one similar to the one pictured at C & S. It works great, holds up to 65 lbs. I guess it depends on how much you pour at one time. You can get a presto pot with a spout on it. Taylored concepts has them for around $50 I think. I also have these. When I am pouring large amounts for like a fundraiser, I use the 65 pounder. But, when I am filling a small order for just a few, I use the presto. It's nice to have a couple of the presto's, one for container wax, and one for pillar. I'm in Maryland too, and the free shipping the one at C & S makes it a good deal. I think my large melter was over $600. Hope this helps!! Misty
  12. Just wondering if you ever figure an average amount of sales per seller in a fund raiser to give you an idea of what to prepare for. I have one coming up for a small elementary school, and was going to try to get a little bit ahead of the order. Or, do you just wait until the order is turned in? Thanks Misty
