  1. Sad abou the pure soy as I just got some to try from a Canadian supplier. I started with CB Advanced and Enchanted Lites which I still use but am experimenting with CB 135 and the pure soy. Guess I better not get too attached to it. My conclusion is to go between 2 or 3 brands so if one goes out of business I can rely on the other two.
  2. That is gorgeous and I look so forward to your posts. I'd love to make soap every day.
  3. Fern-Marie, Yeah it drives me nuts and I've come to the conclusion that you can never have enough wick sizes. I'm starting to get them in smaller packs of 12 so that way I can pinpoint what works and what doesn't. Today I was ready to throw this candle out the window but am determined to figure it out.
  4. Thanks I'll try another one with this wax and the same scent and see if the beads disappear. This has never happened with CB Advanced or Enchanted Lites wax which is what I normally use. I made a Patchouli & Sweet Orange coloured orange with this same wax using 10% or 9% and an LX wick and didn't have that problem so it could be the combo of EO's as this one had Lavender, Rosemary and Thyme.
  5. Hello, I've never had this happen before but I used the Ecosoya pure container wax and used 9% EO and the overpour had no colour and I had purple chunks in the middle. I took a photo so you can see what I mean. They are all on the outer part of the circle. It says this wax can take up to 10% of fragrance. Did I use too much or is it my wick? I used a HTP 104 wick for this 8 oz square mason jar.
  6. Well I can't help tell you which is closest to gb464 but hopefully someone else will chime in. I've used all of the Ecosoya's though and so far I think CB Advanced is my favourite (I've used that one the most in the past) and am still experimenting with CB135 and pure soy. The burn qualities and smoothness of the CB Advanced are great and I like the scent throw too if you wait at least 2 days (more if you can).
  7. It is frustrating and I've heard people say they got an essential oil candle, soap etc. that was cherry or blueberry and they ask if I have those scents and I go into the speech about how those aren't essential oil scents. I've slowing starting to introduce more EO candles into my line as I started with all FO's originally and then kept getting requests for EO ones so I have about 4 now. The other day I looked at some Yankee votives in a card shop and they had wicks off centre and bubbles in the wax. I was surprised. Your idea of labelling them plant based oil essences is a great idea.
  8. Thanks everyone now it makes sense and I like the name bear freshners too. What a hoot about the group for the fairness of how stuffed animals are treated. That's a good one.
  9. Hello, My sister and I were on this site and saw wax dipped plush bears for sale and we don't get it. Do you burn the whole bear down when you light it or it is more a decorative thing? Is it a preference thing for some people? I'm totally curious here and want to know how it works. Are they popular?
  10. Stella, Do you know if Just By Nature ships to Canada? I looked at their shipping but didn't see anything mentioned there about shipping or not shipping to Canada? Since it's under $20.00 I won't have to pay duty on it which is nice.
  11. Stella1952, Thanks I will check out ebay and see about getting sample packs. I know it's really hard to pinpoint what I'll need and a variety is a good idea.
  12. Those are awesome looking and I love the colours.
  13. It's gorgeous the way it is and the name is great. I'd love to make soap like yours.
  14. As always your soap photos are fantastic. I too can't wait to see it cut.
  15. The ones that Candle Science sells in the deep 2 oz and 4 oz. Both of those has a centre in the middle that is indented so you know where to place the wick. Just wondered if this existed in shallow tin sizes?
  16. What a gorgeous soap you posted. I can't wait to see more of your creations in the future.
  17. Hello, Currently I make 2 oz deep containers and 4 oz deep container candles and 8 oz square mason jars. I'd love to try some CD, CDN's or CSN wicks for my 2 oz and 4 oz deep containers. This is a picture of what I use now: http://candlescience.com/containers/candle-tins.php I get mine from another supplier but this one had both pictures laid out nicely. What size wick would I need for the 2oz and 4 oz deep? I use Ecosoya CB Advanced and sometimes Enchanted Lites and on occasion use palm wax in the mix. Second question does anyone have the size they think I might need in either CD/CDN & CSN? I'd want maybe 15 of each type and I live in Canada and don't want to place an order for something so small to an American supplier. I could put the money in your paypal account if you let me know shipping. I know a lot of you order in big quantities and I'm have a tiny business so don't order in big amount.
  18. Carole, Thanks, that's the one I was looking for. I was reading so many posts that day and didn't keep track of the title. Your a dear.
  19. Hello, I was on here the other day and can't find a thread. It was someone out of Canada selling square mason jar candles with a cute black ribbed lid. She was out of Canada and said they were expensive as she is a small mom and pop business. I want to see that photo again but have no idea what it was called. I know people were asking where she got the lids and her supplies came from Canwax and another Canadian supplier I'd love to check out as I'm in Canada too. In the meantime I'll keep looking. Not sure if it was a new thread or part of another thread.
  20. Jeana, Thanks, Right now I have a Patchouli and Sweet Orange but it's not strong at all. Also made a few of Lavender, Thyme and Rosemary and those are pretty good but I'd love them stronger. I used an LX 18 in one and HTP 104 in another and an HTP 105 in another size. I'm in Canada and can't find CD and CDN wicks. Today I was in a store and picked up an all soy Lemongrass that smelled great in on it's own so I can see why it would burn well. Awhile back I made an all flower citrus blend that had a light scent throw so maybe stronger blends work well. Also might try adding some coconut oil to my wax to see if that helps.
  21. I use the CB Advanced and haven't had a problem with wet spots.
  22. Thanks everyone. I've made two candles with two different EO blends and one is the CB135 and the other is pure container soy wax from Ecosoya. I'm also planning to do one with the Ecosoya CB Advanced and Enchanted Lites to see which if any give a stronger hot throw.
  23. I find when I'm explaining how to burn candles at craft shows people's eyes just glaze over and they start to look overwhelmed because they just want to make a purchase and go but it's important.
