  4. I have a Presto Pot but much prefer my Regal Kitchen Pro ( it holds way more wax AND has the thermostat also). I went to the Restaurant Supply and purchased different size laddles with long handles with the Fluid Ounces marked on them. In the beginning it took some testing to know exactly how much wax each full laddle holds in wax ( by weight )....I kept good notes and now I use the scale SO MUCH LESS and have very few drips "laddling" the wax into the pour pots because they are so large and easy to use.
  5. Anyone have any ideas for "professional" packaging for these?
  6. ...and drinking gasoline is EXPENSIVE!!! THAT was serious!!!!
  7. I gave my input in the last post about this, and still believe what I said to be true. I would like to add now that you have called AGAIN...to QUIT calling....her staff OR her! Most business owners really do not have the time for, nor do they welcome solicitation calls any more than you like to receive them in your home from "telemarket" people that assume they have the right to interrupt your day just because they have your number and because they want to sell you something. I would NOT explain the drama created by her staff member and you....unless you REALLY think she WANTS to hear it all. ( which I doubt ) In my humble opinion, it is time to let go of the GOODS! Give her a day or two to get back in from her trip and back in the swing of things before you send them, along with a well crafted note about your respect for the image she has created in her store and how you would like to form a lasting relationship with her by offering her quality products that she will be proud to carry in her boutique for a price that will generate revenue for her. ( Of course not in those words exactly)...than the ball is in her court. If you have not heard back from her in a reasonable amount of time, DO IT AGAIN...but bigger basket, more products with a SHORTER note about how you would love to do business with her...or better yet....just a note saying " ENJOY" I will BET you, you WILL hear from her and she will be much more receptive to doing business with a class act who respects her time and is willing to put your product where your mouth is. I know this sounds strange, but if you really want in there, it WORKS! I HAVE been known to send flowers and/or cookie bouquets on Saturday where they take them home and have "me" in their face all weekend in their home or at least think of me every time they look at them in their shoppes. She has so many options and available wholesalers. Some who have already established brand recognition. I am suggesting that you think outside the box and do something different than every one else would do. Just a thought....thanks for letting me voice an opinion on your thread. Michael
  8. Ok here is mine... When you chose your logo or any graphic that represents you and your company I think one of the most important things to consider is your "target market". Who do you want to appeal to? Honestly, in my opinion, there are very few images that appeal to every market. ( which is why there are some very succesful companies like Estee Lauder that have more than one line....they are targeting EVERYONE...ie...Estee Lauder...Clinque...MAC ( I think )...etc. Each has a different Image for the "target market" I hope I am getting my point across here. Another example is, if you are wanting to target a chic/preppy market, the last thing you would do is pour your wax in Mason Jars and use Holly Hobbits for your theme/image and logo. When I see the two choices you posted, the market I see it appealing to is the very young female market that has no personal expendable income. I do think that the "z" at the end of the name might be "cutesy" to them as well as the fairy fluff. On the flip side of the coin, they could have mothers with money that might support their shopping whims. JMHO
  9. Greetings! I have a different "take" on this topic. I believe that there are artisans/craftsman and there are salesmen/reps and sometimes they are NOT the same person all wrapped up into one. Obviously you have developed a professional, attractive line. ( I have commented on your line before, looking very much like products for modern, well informed consumers. ( GREAT look to me! ) If you KNOW deep down that you are NOT a sales person, instead of trying to "learn" sales skills at a risk of your presentation not matching your products in style, class and quality, I would seriously consider searching your data bank of people you know that might just be the perfect person to promote your product for you to this boutique and others. Sometimes it is much easier for someone to "blow your whistle" for you...and will blow it better than you can do yourself. I am NOT trying to discourage you by any means. I want you to be a success and believe you deserve to be with your well developed line. I just know that for me when I wanted the support of the ewomens conference, I sent in someone from the Junior League that promoted me much better than I could have to that market. You may have a friend or know someone that might gladly help you with this. I hope that you dont think I am saying you can not do it. I KNOW you can, but even though we are all basically sales people ( we have to sell ourselves everyday ), some people are better at it than others, and if you have the perfect person around you that might could help, why not utilize them? Professional companies hire professional people to promote them and sell them all the times.Sometimes it makes you appear more successful to NOT peddle your own line. People like doing business with people that are already successful! ( Start with the end in mind ) I wanted to add that most business owners LOVE gifts. I have picked up lines before because they respected my time and sent very GENEROUS samplings prior to their calling/visit. I would knock her OUT with the gift basket and hand written note on fine stationary if I really wanted in there.Than I would do a follow-up, " Hope you enjoyed"..note. It will cost you a little but will be well worth it if she picks up your line. JMHO I would pull out all the stops and go in for the kill!
  10. Now THATS my kind of candle! I really LOVE that one! I am not a fan of burning pillars ( and I burn EVERY candle I buy, no matter what ) but I would buy that one in a heartbeat.
  11. I personally HATE this scent, but I know that others like it. For those of us true " woods" lovers, it just smells like sickening Fake fruity TOOTy to us. As far as the name...only you know your client base. Some are amused...some are not.
  12. Carrie...without going back through all the posts, seems like I remember someone that was disappointed that they missed out on this that could take your place. Good luck on selling your house. I am going to be selling mine soon. I am opening a school in San Antonio and need to be there full time to get it off the ground. Bye Bye Dallas...Hello San Antonio!
  13. LOL...Lola, you beat me to it! Seems as if we are on the same wave length.
  14. My vote would be that it will hold 8 Fluid ounces, mouse. NEVER apologize for asking a question to gain knowledge about something you don't know about. The people that need to apologize are the ones that won't ask questions( for whatever reason) . They are the ones that really ARE dumb, and STAY that way! Keep asking your questions. Those that know the answers and want to answer WILL and those that don't know or dont want to answer WON'T.
  15. Thank you Georgia...they did agree to sell me the lids. ( 340 minimum, which was fine ) I appreciate the referral. Michael
  16. Another Howdy from Texas! Welcome to the board! Glad to have you here! Michael The Dallas Dean
  17. IMHO, so far in my testing, Soy/ Paraffin means cleaner burn and less throw. I am working on it.
  18. :D OK, so I am NOT a procrastinator!! I have always been like that! Get it done and NEXT! Also, like I told Ashlie, my schedule is CRAZY from now until then and I would have been SO embarrassed if I had missed the deadline and I had been one of those people that signed up and didnt play by the rules. AND this was my first swap, first votive and I was way excited about it! I like this swap idea. I think it is fun. How about a Job Swap! You guys can come run a Cosmetology/Esthetic school and I will come and do your job! I bet we would ALL appreciate our our lives more when we got home huh? I love my students, but OMG at the DRAMA!!!!! LOL
  19. There are no words strong enough to describe how bad I DETEST UPS! ( and I am not that sure they dont THINK they are God !! ) They totally NEED a PR firm to revamp their image! They pull those big ass trucks up and park them anywhere they please. They do not care who they keep waiting or inconvience, it is all about THEM and their $$$. They RUN ( literally) into my school and expect us to immediately drop everything we are doing to accomodate their signature requests. I have had them interrupt sales and clients talking...they have dumped HUGE boxes in the middle of the front door where people couldnt get in or out....I have had it OUT with them SO MANY times. I have called ( literally ) and BANNED certain drivers from delivering to my school because of their rudeness and unprofessionalism. I have a friend that works for them and I know their operation...I KNOW their policies and how much pressure is on everyone but honestly...I am WAY sick of UPS....YUKE Whew...thanks I needed that
  20. I have posted quite abit about the 1945 on the old board as it is the wax I started with, and I DID everything I could possibly do to get a good throw from this wax and never did get one as good as I was looking for. ( and used FOs from 5 suppliers ) I will say that I was told ( and believe it to be true after trying it ) that you will get your best throw if you add the FO at about 180. Also, I use the Zinc wicks with both the 1945 and the J223 and have been taught by the Masters on here to "let go" of the anxiety about the wet spots...period.
  21. Great question! I would LOVE mine to be sharper! I dont think it was ever really too sharp. I have sharpened many things before but not sure how I would attempt to sharpen this thing!
  22. I need to find where I can purchase the lids for about 300 16oz tins. I only need the lids. Does anyone know who might sell these to me? From what my supplier and I have found so far, no one wants to sell JUST the lids. Thanks, Michael
  23. I have never heard of that method. RICH colors, would look great in my cabin!
