    Molds

i love my cheese keeper, its the only thing i use when i do a loaf. But today while walking through garden ridge pottery (its a store with all types of home and garden goodies) i found these cracker storage containers, for like a roll of ritz crackers, nice and round with lids. Im gonna try these for round soapies instead of the pringles can
  2. http://www.essentialsbycatalina.com they have a base
  3. it really doesnt whip up that nicely and if you whip it to much it turns into rubber. you can get a nice frothy look with it, but as far as whipping it into a nice frosting like consistency ive never gotten it to do that.
  4. and just think, whatever doesnt turn into a perfect bomb you can always use as a bath fizzy powder Ive had alot of that in my quest for the perfect bomb recipe. Never waste it..add the botanicals with the stuff that doesnt quite work right, and make a fizzy bath tea, add the sea salt, heck ive even used what didnt turn out right as kitchen sink freshner because i just couldnt bear to toss it out.
  5. bath bombs are touchy for me, i love making them but the weather has to be just right or they just turn out gross and grow like the blob definitely try and tweek a few recipes, make small batches at first, try different oils and do alot of testing. i so hate botanicals in my bombs, lav buds look like dead flies floating in the water (yuck) and botanicals just stick to your wet skin. One little dried rosebud isnt bad, you can fish that out and toss it. If you really want botanicals or anything else that will "float" in the water, put your bomb in a organza or muslin bag and toss the whole thing into the tub. Ive never ever ever had luck with the plastic ornament molds, i use a piece of pvc pipe and a dowl that fits into it and i just pound the crap outta my bomb (tablets) its much easier for me to do multi colors that way. Its just about finding your recipe and playing with it. Ive made bath bombs with a bath melt bottom so you get a 2 in 1. Just play, be creative and have fun.
  6. The only thing i found that might be useful http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthemis_tinctoria seems like its chamomile, if so you could just use a chamomile extract
  7. ive never seen marguerite EO... we're talking about the marguerite daisy right?
  8. i order my butters, because i use a ton in the things i make. You can get cocoa and shea butter at health food stores but to me its very pricey for the little amount you get. My main butters are cocoa, shea, mango and olive. These are my all time favs.
  9. definitely. If i have left over after making whatever bar im done with, i cut the rest up or make soap curls and store them in the empty containers.
  10. pour a thin layer first let a thin skin form poke the skin with a toothpick and gently push so a bit of soap comes up and put your embeds on it and let them bond then do your overpour
  11. i add goats milk to my mp bases also, its sooo wonderful, i always add shea butter and olive butter also sometimes you do lose the big bubbles, but then you get a super creamy, frothy type that is soo moisturizing you dont even miss those big bubbles
  12. you could add some cocoa powder if you have any to get a nice brown, sprinkle it over the mp before you melt it, it helps it not clump up if you have tea (tea bags) you could open one and add it to your melted soap, keep stirring it until your soap is kinda thick so it stays suspended any type of dried herbs (rosemary, basil, etc...) are nice in plain white soaps with some fragrance
  13. i have a silicone cupcake mold... im thinking i'll fill the frosting part with mp soap and then try and pack the cake part with bomb and see if that works, im not sure if it will stick together but ya gotta experiment sometimes and there are alot of cute cupcake molds out there that are reasonable in price I'll post a pic of my experiment when i get it done
  14. I use regular size cupcakes, using the papers just gives it that extra detail when you press your mix down into it. I do like to use the bite size cupcake liners better now, instead of one big bomb i give away 4 smaller bombs. As for frosting, ive tried just about everything, the FBB and MP makes gooey rubber soap, making CP whipped soap is awesome but you do have to wait on the cure. The best so far for me is the meringue powder method. Even Bath & Body Works uses the meringue and sugar method for their cupcake bombs. I know there is a base for frosting soap https://www.oakcourtcreations.com/ProductCart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=12&idproduct=448 I have yet to try this base
  15. i dont shave my legs with my melts but i do take one and kinda squish it up in my hands after i shave and rub my legs down with it, i dont need tons of lotion afterwards, i do this under my arms too

    swirl

not sure which was poured first i know that when ive poured white with colored clear base if you pour the white into the clear it looks like clouds, you could then swirl it with a toothpick or knife to get a swirly effect
  17. seems to have worked just fine, they are nice and shiney again, i took another dry microfiber and rubbed them down again and wrapped them tightly in plastic wrap (saran wrap), i'll check on them again later tonight
  18. i took a clean damp microfiber cloth and wiped mine down then i took another microfiber cloth dipped in mineral oil and wiped the bars down again it seems to be working, i'll wait a few hrs and check on them to see if they dulled up again
  19. i havent tried to do anything with those yet, i may try to shine them up, i'll let you know the few things i will try on them
  20. did they sweat at all? sometimes mine do that im not sure why either
  21. ive poured layers and let them get hard and theyve never come apart. 1. make sure you score your hard layers with a fork, or you can even poke holes into it with the fork, then spray with alcohol and pour. 2. let a good skin form over first layer, poke with a fork or tooth pick, spray with alcohol and pour. 3. let it all sit for 24 hrs before unmolding
  22. how long did you wait until you tried to unmold it? sometimes waiting 24 hrs helps, popping in the freezer for a few mins helps and adding beeswax or cocoa butter will make it harder
  23. yes you can and you can also make your own. just google what you are looking for and tons of info comes up.
  24. i havent tried the low sweat bases yet
  25. food coloring will fade in your soap...it did for me anyway. The best is to get a nonbleeding soap color or use mica's.
