  2. Chain Chomp Mario Mushroom Pac Man Orange Ghost Skull these were all made from the same beanie pattern, just used different colors, they all fit my teenage daughter who is 14 and a beanie freak LOL
  3. for beanies for my daughter i always use the worsted and a bigger hook, you can do a very simple pattern and make it look fancy just by changing colors and making a scallop border around the bottom ive done that plenty of times and they turn out really nice. My kids usually want character beanies so im always adding eyes or some other strange thing they ask for. I'll try to find some pics of the ones ive made with a very simple beanie pattern.
  4. crochet or knit? you can google "easy beanie pattern" or "free pattern crochet(knit) beanie" and tons will come up... crochet pattern central is all free patterns for knit/crochet

  8. i definitely think you should pick it up again, my mom taught me when i was about 7 or 8 yrs old, and i didnt pick it back up until last year, im 40 now and i honestly enjoy it more than i ever thought i could. i still do my soaps, and make my wax tarts, but on those days when everyone is gathered in the family room and we're watching a movie i crochet, you'll be surprised how many requests you get just from your family to "oooh can you make me this or that" LOL even if its just squares or something little, there are alot of places that take them for donation to make blankets for the homeless. my fav thing to donate are little fish with long yard tails stuffed with catnip to the local animal shelters.

Thanks all :smiley2: i cant stop crocheting LOL, if i sit i have to crochet, i have tons of things, i dont think ive went to the store to buy a "present" in so long, if my kids need a gift for a friend they come to me and go through all the characters, creatures and animals. I dont know how many Marios, pokemon and other game characters ive made as gifts for their friends but its so fun and no one else will have a gift like that. I just finished some little wristlet bags, soooo cute, I will post them when i can find where my 8 yr old hid my camera LOL

  13. This stuff is seriously dangerous!!! People are slitting their own throats on this crap, carving themselves up and shooting themselves. Ive read that it is so addictive that even if they harm themselves they still crave it. It is called "bath salts" but doesnt contain any "salts" but they also label it as plant food, etc.... im pretty sure it is labeled under all kinds of things that dont seem harmful at the moment. It is pure cooked up drugs. If you make bath salts, I would definitely for now change the name as to not have anyone confused on what youre selling. Make sure you label all ingredients. From what ive seen it looks nothing like bath salts, it looks like a fine powder substance. Very scary, but i dont think any gov is going to be able to stop it, its already out of control, and the name will get changed over and over again.
  14. Basically yes, most soaps can be remelted, fragrance and color added. It really depends on what type of soap you are trying to remelt, what fragrance and color you want to add to already made bar of soap. You are altering a completed bar of soap, so whatever you add to it could make it not smell pleasant and change the color to something you didnt want. If its a light fragrance you could try to enhance it, like if its vanilla you could add maybe cherry, but as for coloring if its already colored and you want to add more, you could end up with brown or gray or a color you didnt want. IMO its best to start with a unused base if you are a beginner.
  15. jesters for my 3 Nieces Baby, blanky, bottle and bear for my other niece Aubrey, I made the doll to look like her Panda and Brown Bear for my daughters step-sisters
  16. make a test bar, its the best way to find out, not everyone uses the same fragrances and at different strengths, different bases etc....
  17. you can definitely put a sachet in them, just make sure its closed up. Ive made little chocolate bunnies, with scented sachets in them, i just wrapped it up with fiber fill stuffed it into the bunny and then stuffed around it.
  18. http://www.ecrater.com/p/2015349/white-hdpe-plastic-lotion-dispensers-25 something like this?
  19. i love those!!! the pics on them are tooo cute. were do you get such small tubes, those would be great for my kids
  20. pvc pipe is the best for this i use all different sizes, you can make circles inside a circle or random sizes throughout the soap then like barbara said insert the whole thing inside a log mold, if its to long you cut it down to your log mold size and use the extra for decorating the top
  21. moisture- glycerin attracts moisture and your soap will "sweat" wrap it up tight in plastic wrap and keep it in a cool dark place, like a cupboard or a closet. i wrap mine up, then label a brown paper bag and keep them stored in a basket in the closet.
  22. 50k for a bath bomb.... ummm yeah right i bet they sell alot of those *snickers* no marketing, free give-away, or charity donation could convince me to buy a bath bomb for that price, i can donate the 50k to a charity and take a bath with my own dang bath bomb LOL
  23. there is a supposed "antibacterial yarn" you would have to do some research to find it, i believe it comes from japan and is used to make tawashi's (dish scrubbers). ive made bath poufs with both cotton and acrylic yarn and they just dont work, they are pretty and eye catching but honestly they dont produce bubbles (with a bar soap and with body wash) the cotton gets heavy, the acrylic scratches im not saying its a bad thing, but for me personally they dont do the job
  24. pipe cleaners - they can make different shapes, animals or whatever they feel like bending them into foam stickers- usually can find big buckets at the dollar tree or other dollar stores, they can decorate shoe boxes, coffee cans, really anything with these- shoe boxes make great treasure boxes egg cartons- cut them apart, paint them, they can make bugs (add pipecleaner legs and antennae) construction paper wings, poke a hole in the top and add a string to hang them toilet paper/paper towel tubes- decorate, make circles for the top and bottom with cardboard, cut a nice slit in the top circle and they made their own coin tube (piggy bank) this works great with frosting tubs or any plastic that has a lid, decorate with the foam stickers for a really cute piggy bank
  25. definitely about 24 hrs sometimes it looks and feels like its all set up but in the middle its still squishy
