  1. yes the vanilla will cause browning. Ive never put mine in the oven so im not sure on that one, ive put bath bombs in there to dry them out and they turned out fine, so i would imagine it would be alright. i would try it on one or two and see if it works. Will never know unless ya try it out.
  2. those are soo cool...i can just imagine them in clear with something embedded in them.
  3. ive never use polysorbate in my bombs and they always turn out just fine. I love adding powdered milk to my bombs. I add my fragrance to whatever oil i may be adding at the time, same with whatever color im using. spritzing the witch hazel works for me until the mixture is like wet sand. Pack those molds good and let them sit for a bit before unmolding to make sure the two halves are stuck together. Remember if you think you've messed up, dont because it always makes great fizzy bath powder! Have fun
  4. im not sure if it would cloud or not, but if you wanted honey and olive oil, you could always add them to the GM soap to ensure no cloudiness. or just try a small batch of honey with OO to see what it does.
  5. sounds like at some point your soap got a case of the sweats and dried back out leaving those little beads behind. if the bars werent wrapped or just stored out in the open this happens.
  6. wrap them in saran wrap tightly and keep them out of humid area's, try storing in a dark place, like a closet. I keep mine wrapped, in a paper bag, in a box in the closet. If you have to store them in a garage, still wrap them tightly and maybe put them in a tub with a tight lid.
  7. if you use powdered the best way for me is to sprinkle it over the soap chunks BEFORE you melt, if youre melting in the micro at 30 sec take it out stir, keep melting this way has worked for me using mica powders without having flecks of the powder floating in the soap
  8. ive never used that particular base but as far as reusing it...most definitely!! What i do with the ones that i dont use, wrap in saran wrap so no moisture gets to them, put them in a paper bag or box labeled with the scent name. If i want chunks i chunk it up and use it with a complimentary scent, or i take an old veggie peeler and peel the soap into curls and use it. You can even grate it on a old cheese grater to get flakes.
  9. one of those plastic shoe boxes works well if youre going to make a big batch. anything really that you can pop the soap out of, ive used tupperware, cardboard boxes with freezer paper or a garbage bag to line it. Ive even used medium size paper jewelry boxes lines with saran wrap, basically whatever you can find that wont leak and can be lined with something will work
  10. im pretty sure you could try and see what happens, use the gun on one or two and see if it helps
  11. in most instances it is...what i usually do is heat mine in the micro at 30 sec bursts, then i whip the crap out of it adding a bit of whatever oil i want to use at the time. ive even completely melted it down and it still whipped up smooth
  12. it does take alot of experimenting and trying all the "frosting" recipes out there. I combined all the recipes ive tried..and it worked for me, if you want an actual frosting you can wash with. The meringue frosting is ok, it gets hard as a rock no doubt, but it gets tossed out, and meringue isnt cheap. The foaming bath butter with melt and pour soap gives a rubber frosting that doesnt really hold its shape. So combine the two and play around, you'll be surprised at what you get. I have one more combo of ingredients i want to try. hopefully it will work just as well as this one.
  13. thank you all. i frosted 3 cupcakes with the amount that i made. I made a small batch just for experiment purposes and it did actually get really stiff to the point where you can actually touch and hold the frosting without it losing shape, the swirls stayed and it foamed and bubbled just like soap in the tub.
  14. the bottom is a chocolate bath bubble bomb the top im still experimenting in making a soapy frosting. Its fbb and mp. I added meringue powder hoping it will make it hard, i added the cornstarch to thicken it up so it holds the piped shaped instead of just oozing down off the bomb. If you've ever whipped mp you know that it turns into rubber, so im trying not to get a rubbery soap frosting.
  15. Here is my experimental frosting. I made this about 2 hrs ago, you can touch the frosting and it holds its shape, it feels like a hard marshmallow. Its made with FBB, MP, meringue powder and cornstarch. The flowers I made with royal icing, i usually make a bunch of flowers in different colors and keep them in airtight containers for decorating. Hopefully this frosting will hold up and get harder.
  16. i think ive finally came up with a recipe for frosting soap. i used fbb, mp soap, meringue powder and cornstarch. made a small batch last night, it still looks great so far, you can touch it, it holds its shape, it does feel like a hard marshmallow, i broke one open this morning, its spongey, but it doesnt crumble or fall apart, it lathers, i didnt put any fo or color into yet just yet. Im hoping they dry more and the meringue powder makes them a bit harder, we will see. I frosted one bath bomb cupcake with it, i'll post a pic in the gallery.
  17. marine sand - the kind you use in aquariums is very fine grain sand. I have black in my aquarium and its the same size grains as regular white sugar maybe even smaller.
  18. you could chunk it up again and try to make a new batch somtimes scoring lightly with a fork and spritzing with alcohol helps keep the layers together
  19. i use mica's a very little goes a long way.
  20. i think they should be ok, ive always used raw oats, but i really dont think it would be problem. if im not mistaken alot of people use the quick oats.
  21. what about vanilla powder? if you search for "pure vanilla powder" you will find it. It could be a little pricey though, but you could maybe order a sample or try to find it in a gormet or health food store
  22. i prefer powder also what i do is mix all my ingredients together then sprinkle a bit of powder color over the salts, spritz with some distilled water and mix well with my hands (rubber gloves on) if its not the color i want i repeat then leave to dry i think purple is a hard color to get on salts, but the powder soap colors work well

    Molds

you do not need to put a lid on your mp soap, i think depending on what you may add to it, you might want to put some saran/cling wrap on it after it is totally cooled and hard so dust and such doesnt get on it.
