  1. Hi, I'm going thru my list of stuff to order. I've got 2 places left to buy from and I'll be set well 3 actually (I need container wax paraffin I only have soy). I want to get my order in at snowdrift farms for the e-wax and some other stuff (cyclo etc.) How do you make the frosting for the cupcakes? I've seen a recipe but it calls for using all of WSP's premade stuff and I want to make it from scratch. Or can you do that? I've seen some beautiful cupcakes that I'd love to get my hands on in here lol and for the life of me I can't find a recipe? One of the recipes I looked at calls for sls. Is that sodium lauryl sulfate? Sorry for all the questions I just want to get the rest of the stuff I need ordered and start playing instead of seeing a recipe and going oh jeez I could make that if only I had (insert missing item here). And what is "dry flo" ? Thanks everyone!!
  2. I did place it on the phone! She (the woman who took my order) gave me a total then they sent my invoice charged my card and charged me more for shipping. I've emailed them twice they ignored me. Instead they sent me a newsletter? It's not so much the extra $$ in shipping as being ignored. I'm not trying to be petty but I could have ordered the same stuff from WSP for $20 less with their shipping discount. I'm glad you got a great order. I'm not putting down their stuff, however I will never order there again. Never have I been ignored when asking about being overcharged from any company. Maybe I should call them tomorrow? They can't ignore me on the phone. Sorry didn't mean to hijack your thread. I am so happy you're excited about your order. I am sorry I vented in your thread, it just bugs me and I was curious if I was the only one they get an extra $10 or $20 from. It really makes me upset. They lied and charged what they wanted to my card. What if it made me go over the credit limit and I didn't know it? I mean you don't give a person a total then charge whatever you feel like charging. Right? Again sorry to hijack your thread.
  3. I apologize I did not see the original recipe called for vodka! That would be illegal. lol I'm sure even with the fragrance oil some people would try eating them (I've heard of people drinking worse to get drunk). The hazmat is probably a problem, but if you google that word that department shows up and you can email them and ask them a general question. I gave them the recipe using ispropyl alcohol 91% proof and asked about shipping these. lol curiousity killed the cat but like Stephen King said "Satisfaction brought him back". Sorry for not throughly reading the recipe. I always make a mistake at least once a week but I try to learn from it. Hazmat site: http://phmsa.dot.gov/hazmat/info-center
  4. I got a reply back. Local states differ, however, as the kind lady who looked up the law stated in her email (she lives in Texas and said she wasn't sure of the laws in my state but I could look them up). However note rubbing alcohol is denatured and therefore unfit for drinking. Her email follows: "Alcoholic sales laws differ from state to state. I don't know what state you are from, so I can't consult your Alcoholic Beverage Code, but the law is probably not very different from the law in my state of Texas Here the liquor laws apply to "alcoholic beverages," which are defined in the Code as "alcohol, or any beverage containing more than one-half of one percent of alcohol by volume, which is capable of use for beverage purposes, either alone or when diluted." Rubbing alcohol is denatured to make it unfit for drinking, so it would not qualify as an alcoholic beverage, and the liquor laws would not apply. In the case of your project, I would probably be more concerned with the safety issue. Isopropyl alcohol is very inflammable. You might want to contact the Consumer Product Safety Administration to make sure your product is safe and legal." She then gave me contact info for the Consumer Product Safety. I'll email them as well as my state, but I am almost sure that denatured alcohol is ok to sell. I do agree that the flammable part is what I'd be concerned with.
  5. Are you sure isopropyl alcohol falls in the same category as vodka? I have bought 20 bottles of it at a time at walmart, rite aid, any place I can find it and never had anyone question me. It's great for preventing infections in cuts etc and I keep it as part of my first aid kit and always have it on hand. It is flammable. I contacted the alcohol tobacco and firearm division and asked them if it would be illegal to sell this in a product. I told them it was for ornaments similar to yankees gel ornaments and it was going to be used to prevent mold. I'm waiting to hear their response. You are probably right tho. I was just hoping. this would be awesome for making gel ornaments. How do people get away with it in other recipes? There is one for making your own stuff for those lamps. I know they sell it on ebay, I've seen it. Unless they are unaware it's illegal? Sorry not questioning you, just shocked. Who would drink the stuff?
  6. Thanks Jill! Just added that to my list of to buy stuff or tomorrow!
  7. I had a hard time with them. They quoted me $70 for shipping then charged me $100. When I contacted them they completely ignored me, even tho they charged my credit card more then they said via the phone. Did they overcharge you on shipping? I never got the 200lbs weight discount, even after order over 4 cases of wax!
  8. I've made this using DPG. It's a bit oily in your warmers but works out fine. The stuff from the store doesn't seem to be as oily (if that makes sense). The stuff from the store seems more waterish type when you pour where as this, when you are done and ready to throw it out because there is no more smell, it leaves a residue in your tart burner and you have to wipe it out with a paper towel (whereas with tarts you just plop em out). Hope I'm making sense?
  9. Isn't there a list of all the FO & Wax sites per state? I did a search and looked and I can't seem to find it. I'm looking to buy wax (ecosoya pillar blend) and the igi pellets and the only place I can seem to find this wax is at wholesale candle supply store but the shipping is ouch. Sorry if this is posted in the wrong thread. I live in Maine, but the ones I've seen in MA that sell wax (candlechem) charge a lot more for the wax then any other site I've seen. Even if I were to pick it up It would still be cheaper to have it shipped from elsewhere. (I have so far checked candle science, peaks, wholesale candle supplies, just scent and candle wic. bitter creek.) From candle wic I found some waxes at an inexpensive price but I wanted the 2 waxes I mentioned above. Thanks again anyone that can help!
  10. what were you looking to pay for them? I saw a few sites that sold them.
  11. thanks for the ideas. I think they'd be a hit for magnets in lockers (and lockers at work).
  12. Thanks, I agree with you. After reading about gel candles (which is something I DO want to try) it made me a bit nervous to be throwing melted gel in a glass and praying it was the right type of gel and the FO I chose worked with it and the wick was right etc. I am going to try some of Stella's ideas and if it doesn't work out I'm going to donate them to a local church thrift store that charges a lot less to it's clients then goodwill (and my exmotherinlaw works there). She was a godsend when I was losing weight, always picking me up clothes there. Last time I went, it was fill a garbage bag for $2. I made out great.
  13. lol nope not a big drinker. It'd be a great idea if I were
  14. Thanks! I love your ideas. (Got any ideas for gift bags, I got over 100 of them from work we never used at christmas)
  15. Ginger at flexiblemolds.com will also give you a discount if you order over a certain amount on her site. she'll also do flat rate shipping and also has combine stuff I've won off of ebay and her site. She furthermore has shipped a new cat mold when for the life of me the ears kept breaking off each time I tried making a cat. She told me how to cut the mold so the ear wouldn't break off and volunteered to give me another new mold for free. I think she's great, great customer service, great molds, great friendly person. (No I don't work for her lol) I just think customer service is as important as the product and she's got both beat hands down! I have over 100 molds of hers.
