  1. I too am having the same problem with the scent in my bath bombs vanishing after a few days...The funny thing is only the scents that I purchased from New Directions Aromatics are fading....All of my other scents purchased from Hobby Lobby and Michael's for testing purposes are still going strong...
  2. I have been using distilled water, but hadn't tried boiling it and letting it cool down. I'll perform a search for those instructions. Also, I purchased a few white chocolate bath bombs by Feeling Smitten from a local Spa and paid a whopping $11.00 for a large and $6.00 for a mini and just wanted to basically test theirs out, and when I popped the tops off, guess what I saw - brown on the complete bottom of the icing and on the top of the bomb, where they met....it looked sooo grossed! The piping was beautifully done but I was freaked at the sight. I'm at work and will post pics when I get home...My only thought was that maybe, they have a little bit of vanilla in their frangrance oil (which the smell was hard to pick up on) Becuase surely, with a company that big, they CAN'T possibly have a mold problem, right?? I did notice on the label that they use a preservative so it had to be the vanilla note
  3. @ Adirondack - thank you so much for sharing the info, theirs seem to have sooo much more oil than my recipes call for. No wonder why theirs are $8.00+!!! I agree too about the $50,000 bath - that would be a small house in the city I live in, heck, I'd probably get a foreclosed condo near the beach for that down here!!!
  4. Thanks for the feedback...I too wonder how in the world are they able to get away without properly listing the ingredients....I watched a Youtube video and the owners were apart of the "Big Deal" show and stated that the started out with a $200 investment and a few years later are grossing around 6 million a year!!!! Their prices are super high, and I guess its the pretty packaging and the marketing idea that people are buying into....
  5. I was doing a little browsing on the web for bath bomb supplies and stumbled across the Me! Bath company...Their bath bombs are "ice cream" and costs a whopping $8.95 each and are said to take 3 days to make each one...I searched on the entire website and could not find the ingredients listed anywhere....I am really interested in trying to make it and would hate to pay $8.95 plus shipping for one...Has anyone else seen this or has the recipe? www.mebath.com
  6. Thank you very much, I didn't think my frangrance oil had vanilla in it because it's an orange scent and when I went on the website, sure enough, it has vanilla in it and is prone to discolor in soap....Well, at least I got a lot of practice in, I guess
  7. I have finally mastered the cupcake frosting technique, but each and every time that I've checked the icing, mold has started to grow in between where the bomb and icing meet. I have iced the bombs as soon as I packed them, allowed them to dry 24 hours before icing them, ensured that ALL my utensils (only used for b& are sterilized, worn gloves, etc...I can't for the life of me figure out why they keep molding. I have tried Optiphen Plus in my icing, but the oily consistency in the preservative makes for a horrible icing....Do you know what I could possibly be doing wrong?? I've already spent tons of $$ on cupcakes alone, just to have them mold in a few days...Are there any dry, powder preservatives that would be fit for this recipe? Thanks for your help and suggestions. Here is a pic attached of the finished, dried cupcakes that eventually molded...I didn't take a pic of the mold but have some drying and will take one should they mold too....
  8. I used a scent called strawberry jam from Bramble Berry. I ordered their bakery line and it came with orange sherbet, chocolate frosting, vanilla with a stabilizer and I also got some bath bomb colors from them. The melts are scented coconut vanilla and I have to keep reminding myself not to eat them!!!
  9. Thanks everyone, I'm using the recipe that LuminousBoutique sent to me, and I'm very appreciative of it. I can't tell you how many failed batches of frosting I had because of improper measurements listed. That receipe should be in my previous posting about cupcakes. I would search and post it here but I'm not that computer savvy - vet. LOL
  10. Today I made bath bombs for the first time and tub melts and cupcakes for the second. I have a love / hate relationship with the bath cupcake recipe and pray that one day I'll get the frosting perfect...I'm so adamant about it that I'm thinking of enrolling in a cake decorating class! Please share any tips that you may have about frosting techinques and thank you for looking!
  11. Thanks everyone! LuminousBoutique, I'm especially thankful for your advise and expertise, saving the link to my favs right as I type! I thought I was the only one who thought the meringe was expensive and am glad to know that there's an alternative...can't wait to try the new recipe, I'll be sure to post pics (as long as they come out half way decent)
  12. I'm using the recipe from the soap queen's blog, I'm having such a hard time with getting the frosting light and fluffy, I'm following it to a T, it's calling for a cup of water and 1 1/2 cups of meringe, do you think that's too much?
  13. Thanks for that tip, that's definitely what it is, does it matter it the water is tapped or distilled? Yours look soo pretty, I'm thinking about enrolling in a cake decorating class just to learn how to pipe like that, LOL
  14. I failed misreably at the icing before finally getting an understanding on how to work the bag...I'll keep trying and hopefully practice will make perfect!
