    I think I have possibly worked out how to stop fingernailing (although I like the look myself) If it is a warm to hot day and you pour your wax hot (180+) then it almost guaranteed to fingernail. Pouring cooler like almost rustic temp I have not seen 1 fingernail. I also found when pouring at a cooler temp on a cold morning, I will never get a fingernail. Hope this makes sense, but it seems to be the answer.

    Try pouring cooler and don't add FO, this might help

    I agree, versatility is this waxes premium benefit. It is easy to work with, can be poured at different temperatures with vastly different results, shows colours beautifully and generally burns well.

    Try living in New Zealand and having to ship from the States to here!! Now that is a process, an expense and a pain. Sorry can't help you with any advise.

    Lovely candles and pics. Did you do the pics yourself?

    It is a 2" and I use 1 size down from the 3" for the wick. Buy the wick local and it is called a No10 so no idea what the comparison on wick sizes is, sorry.

    Lovely candles. I wish I could display my candles like that but the arts market I do every Sunday is outdoors and the wind gets to you. You have a little canopy type thing but that doesn't keep the wind away!!

    Something different. I have had a few blisters on these:angry2: not sure why I get that with my rustics. Develop after around 2 weeks when the temp drops. I tried with chunks but I personally think that the chunks spoil the candles. Not a very good pic. [ATTACH]14867[/ATTACH]

    I find the weather plays a big role, if it is hot, I get a lot more mottling. I have to agree, though, that my wax can vary from slab to slab.

    Candlewic has a gold dye block which comes out quite well, not sure of amount to use as I didn't take notes with the ones I made

    I agree that you need less of the white background, maybe a black background, not that I'm a professional, far from it but your candles are stunning and it is a shame to hide them in all that white. I don't agree with the soy wax statement either as I think all waxes are natural to a certain extent. Paraffin is from the ground and made up of plankton etc. Palm is from trees, etc.

    I use both methods described somewhere in the tutorials (can't remember where) The pinky purple ones are done by very cool wax like oatmeal, you add a drop or 2 of dye, stir slightly, and pour into moulds. Bash these down hard, with a towel over the top, then heatgun for around 5 mins, voila!! The second method, all the others, you put dye chips in water and at the right temp, when the dye has melted, you dip your already made candle, voila! Hope this helps. Maybe someone here can give you an idea of where the tutorials are

    Thanks all for your kind comments. I use a paraffin wax that I get locally which is a stock standard 140MP. I find that they all burn well, scented or not.

    I put some water in the bottom of the cane and float the tealight on it and this stops the wax melting.
