  1. Just by Nature's Vanilla Cream. Great throw in soy and reasonably priced.
  2. I' m wondering then if you really want a straight birch. I didn't find it to be very pleasant alone in wax, but that could be just me. One scent that came the closest to what I was looking for is called Bonsai. Oregon Trails carries it, as does another supplier that isn't coming to mind. You might want to pick up a sample and give it a try - it's an awesome scent.
  3. My favorite is KY's. SNC's is a close second, but is only good in candles, IMO.
  4. I don't know that you'll find one that smells like a straight birch unless you go with an EO instead of an FO. There are a lot of suppliers that carry the EO - essential oils university and camden grey come to mind. As for the FO, EAC carries a vanilla birch, it's in close out right now. S4C also carried a blend. I'm not sure if they still do. Genwax also had one (they've really cut their line down, tho, so I'm nut sure they kept it and it was a very sweetened version, not like the EO, but I really like it). About the wintergreen, that's interesting that it smells like straight birch. I'll have to give it a try. I've been searching for a birch for years that smells like the one Crabtree & Evelyn used to carry (not at all like straight). It's been so long, I can't remember what that one smells like anymore so I've given up the search.
  5. I've tried a number of egg nogs in soy wax and I've never found one that didn't do well. For a sweet one, I'd stay away from KY's. I love it but it's heavier and more spicy than sweet compared to others. But what it lacks in light and sweet, it sure makes up for in throw. Agree that FOH's is a good one. So are Peaks and BG's, if you want the spiked. For sweet, I'd recommend either BCN's or JS's My Secret Recipe, which I like better than their regular egg nog. HTH.
  6. Tradewind's xmas tree is good. BCN's Mistletoe is also a good xmas tree smell, better than their actual xmas tree FO, IMO. KY's is also good with a great throw in soy, but a little too something for me - sweet, probably. One to stay away from is Taylored Concept's Douglas Fir - absolutely no throw in soy, for me anyway. These are all non-spicy, btw.
  7. I tried that once and got a pretty bad fuel smell but that was an improvement over the pee smell I've got from another (not named here). Lemon Slices available over at aroma haven is a good, straight lemon.
  8. WYW Biscotti available at BCN. Another winner that I recently found is the Fig & Biscotti from Candles & Supplies. It's one of their newer $9.99 promotional oils. The fragrance is out of this world good, IMO.
  9. Agree 100% with so-soy. My favorites: Beach Breezes Orchid (a must try, IMO) and Violets (just like the candy). BB's Cybilla line is even better in soy, the ones I've tried, anyway. Sorry, no help here on their candle line.
  10. Bluegrass is on par with KY as far as fo quality and throw, IMO. They have the best buttercream that I've tried. Also love their butter cookie.
  11. Ones I've tried in straight soy: Lumberjack - Great throw - I detect cedar and I swear it has an applelike bottom note. It's woody yet sweet. Cherries & Chestnuts - Love this but it's very strong. In a 50/50 I'd start out testing with 1 oz to a pound. In straight soy, 1.2 to a pound is a house filler, 1.5 to a pound is a house emptier (I'll never forget that quiet Saturday, LOL!). Old Fashioned Christmas - Piney, christmasy. I prefer it over the xmas past, it has more going on then trying to be a straight xmas tree. Toasted Marshmallow - I love this. Great alternative to creme brulee. Sweet & strong.
  12. Okay, well then. IMO: Be Delicious type - must try Brooklyn Biscotti - pass. It's okay but I have another one I like more. Candy Corn - same as biscotti, but throws well and an improvement on BCN's, IMO, that smells more like buttered popcorn. Personally, I like the sweeter version from Southern Scentsations. Lavender Cucumber Sage - must try. Really smells like all three combined. The cucumber tames the lavender. Sweet Dreams - good if you like sweet and condensed milk. Very similar, if not the same, as KY's (don't recall their name for it off hand). Agree w/CB that other must trys include vanilla plum and guavaberry. The vanilla plum is delicious once it's burning. Cold throw could be a problem if you're selling, tho, IMO.
  13. In soy, grandma's kitchen is very good and nice and spicy. Also great in soy (but not spicey): Watermelon (nice and true, not candyish) Waterfall Mist (great BBW dupe, IMO) From their $9.99 line: Tamarind & Apricot is great - Like a tart apricot. OOB, the Cardemon & Cream (mildly spicey) is incredible as is the Sugar Cane. But again, OOB. Haven't tested in wax yet. There are more, but these are standouts for me. HTH
  14. Tradewind's will knock your socks off.
  15. The one advantage I've found with the lower melt point soy is I seem to get a better scent throw. Alternatively, the soys with the higher, 135 melt point seem a lot pickier. At least, this is the way it seemed to work out for me. I've compromised and use the middle-of-the-road 125 melt point soys and have been happy with my results. Again, I'm not basing this on any great scientific facts, just on my findings from using the various soy types that have been on the market over the past 6 years.
  16. For the holidays, definitely the Mistletoe and Egg Nog. I'm also a die hard fan of their Blueberry Muffins and Strawberry Jam. HTH.
  17. I've tried quite a few of their fos in soy and they have all been great. Definitely quality oils. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.
  18. The softer soy waxes are the ones with the lower melt points -115-119. I'm kind of surprised the 464 didn't meet your needs. Anyway, if you're wanting softer, try googling soy wax under 119 melt point. A caution tho, this lower melt point soy can really be a disaster if shipping to customers in the summer. HTH.
  19. I've found that a lot of citrusy scents seem to give off a distinct, fuel-like smell using soy wax. If you used a high concentration of FO, this usually will seal the deal.
  20. Garry - Oregon Trails is having their annual sale right now on their Bugs Be Gone, I think it's called. Very reasonably priced. It's an EO blend and really works. Check it out - it's in their essential oils section.
  21. Berry Bundt Cake - most definitely! This is a strong throwing angel food cake type scent flavored with berries. Love it!
  22. I'm surprised that you're having issues with the Hot Baked Apple Pie and Peanut Butter Crunch, but I don't use your blend, being an all soy user myself. Did you also get a sample of This Old House? This one definitely rates house-filling status for me and is one of my favorites from them, along with their Creamy Coconut (almost forgot about this one - more cream than coconut but great in soy!). Murphy's law being what it is, when you light your samples up again after the sale, they'll probably knock your socks off.
  23. Yup, try less next time. Another option is to blend it - Vanilla would be a great choice. HTH.
  24. I'm not sure I understand this part - "You just basically see what diluting agents different suppliers use or thier manufacturers." How can you tell what diluting agents they use? And does this mean, the more it bubbles, the more diluted it is? This would be good to know especially since so many suppliers claim not to dilute their product. TIA for your help.
