  1. I love KY's it may say toasted but all I get is the sugary sweet part. worth a try and super strong.
  2. HAHAHA - they were probably still reeling after fixing YOUR order so Sharon's request was next and, oh well, we already know from Sharon what happened..
  3. Farmhouse is another one who will no longer ship USPS because "it is illegal." Wish some of these suppliers had better reading comprehension skills.
  4. Hehe, thank you - I knew you would have both!
  5. Jami - thank for reviews. I need to try their banana bread now. Next time you order, try the newer version cinnamon buns. This one's my all time favorite in soy. Simply outstanding, I love the sweet and buttery notes. On the Pineapple Upside Down Cake - this smelt so incredibly realistic when I mixed it with my hot soy wax, I thought finally, this is the one. Unfortunately, it had next to no throw for me, even after a serious cure. Maybe you'll have better luck.
  6. This one didn't smell like much OOB for me either but blooms when it hits the wax. The one I tried wasn't from Candle Science but I'm suspecting both are stock Belle Aire fragrances. Just goes to show OOB reviews don't really count for much as far as candlmaking goes.
  7. Hiya Lady - how does this one compare to KY's? TIA.
  8. The Buttery Brown Sugar, IMO, is even better - no nuts, plenty butter and realistic Brown Sugar scent. Very happy with this one. The Coconut Bubble - This is seriously one strong thrower. If you are used to going 10% with JS's oils in soy, like me, cut back on this one. At 10% it really does smell like what you'd expect coconut meets original bubblicious gum to smell like. Anyone ever wonder why there's no such thing a coconut bubble gum? I don't wonder anymore. I don't blame JS for my dislike on this one at all - I just used too high a % of oil, but it's going to be awhile before I can try this one again. P.S. SOW - no pretest reviews here.
  9. Hi T - this is a nice Cream/Vanilla type scent with hint of citrus. Hope that helps some. If you're tempted with this one, you'd probably really like their Buttery Brown Sugar and Strawberry White Cake. I only recommend these because they're my JS favorites and I like the Crema de Dolce too. Cheers.
  10. You are welcome, but PamR deserves the credit. Also, Steve has an incredible pumpkin pie. I'll bet he'd also have a great pumpkin pie spice.
  11. ICS's Cinnamon Buns [newer version] is my all time favorite CB in soy. The frosting and buttery notes come thru like no other. Her new Danish is incredible too. Ironically, it reminds me of the one Snowtops had for a short period of time. I'm so glad it was brought back! Apricot medley is a very nice scent, but can't come close to Farmhouse's French Apricot, IMO, if you're looking for a great apricot. Snowtop's honey gardenia and key lime are great.
  12. This is one of my favorite Daystar scents. It brings to mind ladyfingers drenched in powdered sugar. Definitely a very sweet, sugary, bakery-type scent. I'd give it a C+/B- for scent throw in soy wax. Great for a mid sized bedroom, but not a house filler, even at 10%. Even so, this is one that would make me cry if ever discontinued. If you like scents like vanilla bean noel, this one is a must try. BTW, her Country Fair is very similar, IMO.
  13. Sorry - yes, your right. I tend to consider "surface" and "ground" as being different for practical reasons: most suppliers don't seem to get that both are really held to the same standard. As for the 141 > 200 going by boat, yes, they should be able to AND UNRESRICTED BY AIR IF packaged under a gallon. Seems like everyone has their own read of the supposedly new regs, even postal workers, so mine is just one more.
  14. I just received a USPS shipping notification from Solas so I'd say it's safe to assume they still ship USPS. As for Peaks, their site is pretty clear about shipping exclusively UPS. I recall contacting them a few years back and they confirmed this. Guess I'm on their naughty list. Can't blame them, really:p
  15. Nope, I'm not dissing NG's Apple Orchard for not being a good throwing apple, it is, but not at all like BCN's Macintosh, IMO, which is just greener and tarter than any other I've tried. If anything, Candlewic's red apple peel is closer. OOB, OT's is also very promising, so I have my fingers crossed on that one.
  16. That right! I forgot all about the good guy Steve's definitely, the candlemaker's blueberry muffins in place of BCN's. Thanks for the memory, Pam. I'll bet he has a good macintosh too. I better toddle over before he catches Doneen fever to..:lipsrseal
  17. IMO, Just by Nature has the best straight apple pie for soy.
  18. There is no way to ship by "surface" if there is an ocean between you and the supplier. The only mail, per se, that goes by boat these days is freight.
  19. Sherri - I'm on the same boat as you (pun intended). Now that you mention it, the Macintosh Apple makes me want to cry. I have several samples from other suppliers but just not the same, too sweet. On the blueberry muffins, have you tried KY's wildberry crisp? It's not quite as sweet but does remind me of BCN's. If you do try it, whatever you do, keep it at 6-7% or it will be too strong. Another pretty good sub is NG's blueberry muffin. Got me on pumpkin spice. HTHs some.
  20. Standouts that I've tried in soy: Vanilla Cream and Apple Pie
  21. You may have just used too high a percentage with you wax. Cajun's oils are pretty concentrated. If you still have it, melt it down and add more wax. You might change your mind. I say this from personal experience. To this day I get sick just at the mention of Pink Sugar because I used SW's at 9% with soy. Hate when I do that. Cinamon buns is another one I loved until I made it too strong, and yeah, stinky.
  22. Soy - I'm assuming, based on your name, that you are wanting it for soy candles? I'm not dissing Daystar, I'm a Daystar fan myself, but for soy candles, Blue Grass's Buttercream Frosting has an incredible throw. The buttercream frosting is one of the few from DS that I haven't tried because my quest for the perfect BF ended at Blue Grass. I have the Jaqua bath gel, myself, and really love it:) I'm curious now about DS's because of all the + reviews here. If any of you have tried both DS and BG's, please let me know so I can get some with my next order! TIA.
  23. Everything Candle Man said. Another reason to transfer to glass is because the plastic bottles often don't hold up, will cave in and split. I've found this particularly true for citrus type scents and especially true for oils with low flashpoints. The low flashpoint oils seem to evaporate right before your eyes if not transferred to glass. I don't think it matters what kind of glass you use as long as you do store it away from light. I really doubt the fos will notice they're in a recycled yahoo or snapple bottle instead of an expensive amber round bottle if they're in your dark, enclosed cabinet. As for shelf life, I've had candy corn and caramel go bad on me within 6 months of buying them from a supplier. I also still have a perfectly good pumpkin pie fo that I bought off the classies 5 years ago. HTHs some.
  24. Poozart's was incredible. I believe Pueblo took over the fos. Their SV is one of those scents that I didn't have to look further for a great one. Haven't tried OFS's but I've loved everything I have gotten from her.
