  1. I love strong scents as well but Baby Powder is one I think should be very light just like any of the florals like Roses, Gardenia and Lavender. Anything else I would say is okay strong. Laura
  2. lol....true they will probably be in clearance soon. I will wait until then to buy one since they seem to burn okay. I do love to burn my candles more then any others but I don't have all the scents I would like. I do think that as candlemakers we are more critical and that is why I like to get your guys opinions. Thanks! Laura
  3. I don't know why but I always end up going to the candle section of every store I go to. Yes, even tho I make my own candles I still have to look. Well yesterday I went to walmart and noticed that they had Paula Deen's candles. Out of curiosity I opened eachone to smell them. They smelled great! Has anyone tried burning them yet? I was tempted to buy the Apple Pie one but hesitated as money is a bit tight right now. The cost is not bad at all 8.97 for the large size. I also love the glass jars they come in. Very cute. Room Spray

CountryTartMom: Do you add anything else to the spray? My sister and bro-in-law have been testing the room sprays for me and they both said it left the floor oily. I am trying to make my room sprays as close to Scentys room sprays as they can. They are strong, last long and no oilnesss to them. I am confussed as to what to do next. Laura

Thanks Grama! I have noticed this more in my bathroom and laundry room. I never thought about the steam and oil mixture. Laura

    Room Spray

Update: I find that adding the 1 oz makes the room spray very oily. You can feel the residue on my wood floors....not good . I have cut it down to 1/2 oz but I still feel it is a bit oily. I am going to try less oil and see how it works. I am worried about the scent not lingering around long enough. Laura
  7. The warmers run around $30 each and yes the reps only get 20% off. As for them saying their bars are different, they are told to sell bars and warmers as a "system". Like I said, I have three warmers from Scentsy that I use daily and I have used both their bars and my parasoy wax blend and they both work great. No problems here. Laura
  8. I use a parasoy wax and use fo's from Bert's, Candlescience and Peak. I have never been dissappointed with any of Peak's fo, Bert's there are a few that I would not reorder but that is just bc I don't like that particular scent and with Candlescience I have just started to order from them and so far so good. Laura
  9. Hey Sharon in KY, I have a friend that is a rep. for Scentsy if you are still interested in a catalog just let me know and I can forward you her email address. I have 3 Scentsy warmers and I love them all. Laura

    Reeds question

I didn't know the reeds clog after some time. I have had my 4 0z boston round jar going in my bathroom for over 4 months and it smells great. As the scent gets weaker, after a week 1/2, I just turn the sticks over and the smell is strong again. I don't know if that is from turning the reeds over or if it's coming from the reeds up into the air. Laura
  11. Mindyw8 - just a tip. When I first started I started with all sorts of glass containers and found out the hard way ($$$ lost) that sticking with one jar/wax/wick combo is best. Master one glass jar at a time. Hth, Laura
  12. I use a different wax for containers then I do for votives (I don't do pillars) 1) container wax is softer and made for containers 2) Votive wax (I use Ecosoya PB) is a bit harder and made for votive/pillars. Hth, Laura
  13. I have a friend who is a massage therapist and she loves the frosted tumbler jars. NO Color in the candles. Laura
  14. I second the Sweet Pea & Vanilla from Candle Science. I just poured it a few days ago and it's a really soft floral, not to overpowering. Laura
  15. I agree with you Leah...ppl just don't understand the time. I have been testing for over a yr and my family and friends don't understand what all the hold up is to start selling. Laura
  16. I recommend Peaks and Candle Science as well. I started off there and have always found there products to be of quality. Laura
  17. I use a candle warmer that I bought from Michael's and it works great. For cubes or tarts I use 3 of the warmers from Scentsy that I bought years ago. Laura
  18. Has anyone ever made candles while pregnant? I am about 31 wks along and have been making reed diffusers for a few months, along with testing room sprays, wickless candles and aroma beads. ***I do wear a mask and gloves when mixing FO. My testing and making is minimual as I am just starting out.*** Laura
  19. My Fav's from Peak are: Mediterranean Fig Apple Blossom Botanical Orchard & Nectar & Amish Harvest -- Great Fall Scent! Laura

    Room Spray

Winter Willow: I don't know if it is cloudy as I am using the aluminuim bullet bottles. I am thinking of placing them in a see thru bottle just to see the mixture. I will let you know. Ladysj: It sounded like a lot of FO to me but that's what was recommended. I must say that the scent lasts a long time. I have tried the FO at 1/2 oz to 3.5 oz of base and so far so good. Laura
  21. You're not dumb. It's a direct sales candle company like Gold Canyon and Scentsy. PL stands for Partylite. Laura
  22. Great idea on the pill bottles and qtips!!! I have been wanting to mix scents but have been scared to try. This sounds like something I could do before mixing. Thanks NewOrleansLady:yay: Laura
  23. I know that Just Scents carries the Abercrombie women FO but I don't know if it is the NOW one. You could possibly ask. Laura

    Room Spray

I made my first room spray about a week ago: 3 oz WSP Room/linen spray base 1 oz Bert's FO - Black Raspberry Vanilla No Color 4 oz WSP alumnium bullet spray bottle So far in testing, it has worked great. The scent lingers around for hours. I just noticed that in my bathroom, I have ceramic tile flooring, it seems to get oily on the ground. I have hardwood floors everywhere else and I don't see or feel it anywhere else except the bathroom. It's not really noticable during the day, mostly right after I shower and there is a mixture of steam and the oil. I almost feel last night and I am 8 months pregnant. Could it be that I am using too much fragrance oil? I am going to try and make another one using .5 oz and see how that does. Could anyone who uses the WSP base tell me if I am adding too much FO.
  25. It is all about the FO. I mainly use Peaks base and love it. The FOs that works for me in really stinky areas are Bert's Fig Melon and Ultimate Watermelon. I was doing 50/50 on these and adding some color but I noticed that the reeds would clog up so I changed to 30/70 with minimual color and they have been great. They last over 4 -6 months. I have used WSP's base when Peaks is on backorder and the only difference I noticed was that WSP's evaporated faster but no difference in the scent throw and I did not have to turn the reeds over as much....I don't know why the difference just my observation between the two. I tend to order more from Peaks so, it's easier for me. Laura
