@TxSioux - I like your reference on the salt. Makes sense. @Candybee - you must be like me and like to test. Everytime I think I have it, I sit up at night and think "how can I make it better?". lol. @SliverofWax - thank for the info. I was using 10% but thought if it would still work at 6% or 8%. Trying to save some money but not cut corners on a good candle. **TESTING: so far the 8% fo candle I poured is giving the same HT as the 10%. I don't really notice much of a difference. Huh?

First, I want to thank many on this board who come here and share their knowledge with those of us just starting out. I started my candle making journey about two yrs ago. I started with the idea that I could make some extra cash if I just invested a bit. Well about a few months and a few hundrend dollars later, I gave up. I ordered three types of wax, tons of FOs and wicks. When one didn't work I gave up and tried something else. That lead me no where. This time around. I read, researched and read some more before I took the leap again. After a few months I finally have the para/soy blend and wicks I want to use and THREE scents down. Yes - three and I'm happy. I have been using 1.5 oz of FO per lb but just this morning I tested with 1 oz per lb to see if there was a difference with my Twilight Woods scent. Call my crazy or just mad about testing but have any of you also tested different percentages of FO when you test? PS - I usually let the candles cure for at least 24 hrs. I will be testing tomorrow morning.

Not to hijack the thread but OMG I do love the Autumn Walk from GC. Have you found a dupe for it? Aslo Apple Pear'dise was a good one.

I went to a candle party not too long ago. There were only 6 people that showed up but she still made over $500 at the party. I also heard that ppl ordered outstide the party and she got the lady two more shows. You can have 20 ppl show up and still very few sells. It just depends. I say give a special on the candles and make sure to tell them, it's limited. Just have a good time and take it as training for more shows to come.

I love Bert's FO. My family raves about: Fig Melon Watermelon Vanilla Latte Black Raspberry Vanilla and Cucumber Melon I have not found replacements for Fig Melon or Vanilla Latte. Waiting for Bert to restock and will order from her again. She is great and yes super-fast shipping!!!

I recently ordered from CS and Peaks and so far my CC has not been used (knock on wood). Last time I ordered from both was almost a year ago. I'm just getting back into candle making.

I also like the Chamomile Tea. Great job!

@Stella - I'm still in the testing, testing and more testing phase. I have three scents burning right now -Pink Sugar, Oakmoss & Amber and Vanilla Latte. Vanilla Latte has reached the bottom and still burning. I'm waiting to see if it will extinguish it self or keep burning. I'm using HTP wicks and wick stickums from CS. NOTE: I'm so loving the oakmoss and amber scent from CS.

I've ordered frosted and clear glass jars from them and they are great. I've tested and re-tested again and again with no problems. I've yet to try their fos but I just might with my next order - depending on your reviews.

Thanks for the heads up guys. I have been checking my account and even spoke to my bank. So far on unusual charges (knock on wood). I don't know if this help but thought I would post it. I have not ordered candle supplies for over a year. I just got back into candle making and ordered from both Peak and CS within the last week. I will let you know if anything changes. This may help narrow things down or not.

I've been making candles for a few years now. I'm at home now full-time and with the support of my dear hubby I'm able to work on my "hobby" while the kiddos are at school. I'm hopping that in time (several months and tons of testing from now) I can bring additonal income to the household or just enough to help with my candle addiction...

Sorry to hear about the poly pockets. My order from Peak's arrives tomorrow and I can't wait. After two years, I'm starting up my candle "hobby" (addiction) again. I ordered: Passion Fruit & Guava Beach Daisies Lemon Pound Cake White Tea & Ginger Country Berry Pancakes and Twilight Woods The other scents I ordered, I've poured in the past and know that I will love. I was tempted to get Tall Grass but waited on it. hmm....I really don't want a tall grass to be sweet. I'm wondering how it will smell once you pour it. I'd love to know.

I third "Fig Melon" from Bert's. This is one of my best sellers, in candles, melts as well as diffusers. Awesome scent!!!
