  1. Vio, I am searching as well and still no luck. Here is another place that sells the candle Kettles. http://soynuts.com/category.asp?id=10
  2. I also use the gb444 from Peak and have had the same problems with the tops of my candles. I read in the threads about using coconut oil and that has helped. As for the mp I use RRD37 wicks in a 9oz hex jar and it works fine.
  3. I just started making candles and just recently ordered the 4630. I love it. The ht and ct is wonderful. I did have problems with smoking at first but I wicked down and that has helped. I do not have to repour either. Laura in Kansas
  4. I say the same. Yellow with a bit of brown.
  5. I would like to know as well. I just started making my own candles as well. I am on my third batch of testing with the same problem. I heat my 9 oz hex jars and I use GB444. I also cool them on my kitchen counter. No air blowing and repourt but I still get the hairline crack from the wick and a sink hole.
  6. Thanks to all who responded. I appreciate all your help. I am thinking of pouring again tonight and I will wick down. I am going out today and purchasing a hot gun and see if that will help. I have never repoured but I don't think I would like it either. Again thanks for all your help with this. I will keep you posted as I came along in my candle making adventure.:tiptoe: Laura
  7. Thank you Vicky and Purple Hippie:) ! The jar I used was 3 1/2 inches. Knowing this information about melt pool is going to help me alot. I had read this on the board once but I guess I misunderstood what I was aiming for. Thanks Vicky for the information on the air bubbles. I was really worried. Also, what would cause a hairline fracture starting fromt the wick and going outward to the jar. If I press the crack a bit it sinks in. The size of the sinking is the end of my fingertip. I thought it might be my 3 yr old jumping around when it was setting but I just poured Vanilla today (no color) and my son was not around. It did it again. I have a long way to go and am very grateful for all your help. Laura
  8. Hello Everyone, First time poster, long time lurker. I finally decide to make my own candles. Ordered everything from Peak. I used 1 lb of wax soy blend 444, 7 drops of red liquid dye, and 1 oz Warm Apple Pie fo. 9 oz jar, small glue dot and RRD 37 wick. I waited 48hrs cure time before I tested. First test (3hrs) it took 1 3/4 hrs to get a melt pool all the way across. Scent was not that strong. 2nd test burn, took about 1 hour for melt pool but started to leave some wax on the side. Now I noticed that small air bubbles are forming on the side of the melt pool. What could this be? My only guess is the glue dots/ wick base lifted a bit and wax got under the wick a bit. Would this cause the air? Any help or advice is helpful? Thanks in Advance. PS. Another ? , after you pour and the wax had hardend when do you put the lids on the candles. Do you wait until after they have cured?
