  1. I have never ordered from BC before, but I happen to have a bottle of an older Bubble n Lights scent that they carry. I need more of it and well... I guess I don't feel right just purchasing the one item. LOL Any suggestions on FOs I should try? I tend to gravitate towards bakery, upscale and unique blends.
  2. So so heartbroken to hear of her passing. She was so friendly and I always loved seeing her tinkerbell sig throughout the board.
  3. Very helpful guys/gals! Acrylic wasn't even on my radar, but will take a look at Soap Making Resource. That's a new supplier - to me anyway. Appreciate the feedback!
  4. I usually don't force gel, so I suppose I am going to have to line them huh? Thanks for your feedback chandlerwicks!
  5. I'm in the market for some new log molds and am looking at the HDPE versions. Do any of you have experience with this type of mold for CP or HP soaping? From my understanding it can be used linerless, but can also depend on the soaps ingredients. I've also seen something about "seasoning" these type of molds, but couldn't find much information about what that entails. Any help is appreciated!
  6. Is their magnolia peach more floral or more fruity? Anyone?
  7. @pattiaggie- curious if you took that to a local copier or one of the big guys? I tried to do that once while waiting for my toner order and they refused to do it saying they couldn't guarantee the labels would print properly and that it may ruin their printer. Confused the heck out of me but I didn't press the issue either.
  8. I have often wondered the same thing! I know if you do a search for fragrance manufacturers, it would give you a head start. Are you thinking of selling to candle makers? Soapers? Finding a manufacturer who specializes in these type of products would be where I'd start. I know many of them require a minimum per fragrance and have also heard they sample. Are you thinking to provide a certain niche in the marketplace? That would be something worth thinking about as well.
  9. great colors! Your site looks very professional as well. If you ever develop a line of pressed powders, please let me know. The only makeup I use that is loose is my setting powder. I've tried - oh have I tried- the loose shadow minerals but have spilled more than I care to admit.
  10. ohmygoodness, soooooo cute! I can't imagine the time this took you, but it really looks great!
  11. yep, I personally didn't like silicone for palm wax. I never did try any other waxes, but it was too time consuming (for me) to deal with scraping out the residue left behind.. To each their own.
  12. Wow, it's not paint. I'm intrigued and impressed. The coloring is beautiful too!
  13. Ohmygoodness! How scary!!! I sure hope you speak with them about how you received your order. I'm sure it wasn't intentional, but there are certain rules governing the handling/packaging/transit of hazardous materials. Whoever packed that box needs to be re-trained immediately.
  14. It can be done. Once you use it for that purpose I wouldn't use it for anything other than glass glow though to prevent cross-contamination if you will. I noticed overnight that the silicone will continue to sweat out the wax after you pop out the product and leave a waxy residue. I don't know how else to describe it. I quit using it because I was worried I would unintentionally mix fragrances. HTH
  15. Oh, I must be thinking of someone else then. Her user name had bizzy b in it. Sorry!
  16. I have to say, I like how my soy candles burn when I trim the wick vs not. I'm burning by the book with occasional 5-6 hour burns. I'm using HTP 104 and 105 in a 3" diam. x 3.5" tall straight sided glass tumbler. Wax has no color and FO load is 7%. If I don't trim I get ugly mushrooms on the ends and both flames flicker quite a bit (105 much more than 104). I'm not as concerned with that as I am the size of the flame. I much prefer the flame from the 104, but I'm into the 4th burn and it still hasn't cleaned the sides completely. They're around the halfway mark, so I'm going to continue to TRY not to trim the wicks. It's hard not to though. lol
  17. This type of thing takes a bit of forecasting. Are you making your products with the intention of selling them in a retail shop at any point? Are you making them to sell directly to the consumer? How many hands will be dipping in your pocket before it reaches you? Of course it will depend on how big you'd like to grow. I am dealing with these questions myself as I regroup, so what you charge will really depend on where/how you plan to grow your business.
  18. Yes, I remember her. I didn't know her as Bizzy B's though. I know she went through a name change and am not sure if she still sells. I believe she owned the scented bean at one point too.
  19. I'm not sure who you're pointing fingers at is entirely fair, but I'll bite. I guess I didn't look in the soaping section, but I'll assume you posted something there specifically to the palm oil users as well? There are many hands in this deforestation pot (I'll completely ignore the fact that palm production comes from areas other than Indonesia). Let's not forget palm wax is a by product as well. I get where you're coming from, but again, I don't think you choosing to single out palm wax users is fair or well-balanced. Admittedly, I'm curious to know your real intentions for this post. I'd be VERY interested to see some data comparing the petroleum, soy and palm industries side by side for some real direction rather than a very specific arena...
  20. I'm glad something was said. I've been trimming my HTP wicks in the testers I have now. Next round I'm going to skip that step and see how they fare. Interesting.
  21. oh noes! I have been lucky enough to have my own room for a studio so I haven't had issues of bothering my bf. As chuck mentioned, ventilation will help. If your workspace doesn't allow fans, maybe work closer to open windows for release should help. I sure hope you're able to find some balance with this issue!
  22. I don't recall seeing Brambleberry in the bunch. I also recommend Backwoods, Elements and Daystar. I've only tried a couple from MMS but those have been good too. The Scentworks has really great oils too but pricey for wax. Those I save for leave-on products. I do want to do a bit of role reversal though... the last half of your list I have never ordered from. Would you recommend them?
  23. VERY cute! I'm not sure what color you were referring to, but I think it looks great - esp the carrots. So vibrant!
