  1. How can you tell that they are palm? I'm asking because I don't know what palm looks, and I want to be educated. :smiley2:
  2. Even the hard plastic caps shouldn't be reused after washing? I've been adding a little fractionated coconut oil or other oil in the empties to use that last little smidgen of FO as a body moisturizing oil. That is, assuming it's skin safe and a scent you'd want for that use. I suppose you could add a little oil or water and pour it into the top of an oil warmer with a tea light under it. Any recs on an oil for that? Darbla
  3. I was searching for threads already going about soybean oil and found this one. I have found a cheap supply of it at a local discount store and was wondering what it's good in? Is it light enough for salt & sugar scrubs? Or massage oils? That's the main things I'm thinking of using it for. I've seen it used in soap recipes but I'm not currently making lye soap (though I have and will again in the future; saw where someone mentioned it could sub for olive oil). Thanks! Darbla
  4. I heard yesterday that Marble Slab Creamery, and I'm sure other ice cream parlors too, have pumpkin ice cream now and that it is fiiiiiine. I've got to get some!
  5. I couldn't edit my last post so I had to put this in another. I emailed them and they replied promptly. Good customer service so far. Scent descs: http://www.solascandle.com/FragranceOils1.aspx
  6. Are they one of those who don't post scent descriptions? I don't see any on their site anyway. Classylady, I don't see All Hallow's Eve on their site. Is that discontinued as far as you know, or from a different supplier?
  7. Is FCO edible? Or I should say safe to consume (everything's edible but not necessarily safe )? I know I can use coconut oil that you cook with but that's usually solid at room temp.
  8. Good gosh, why didn't you guys tell me sooner how wonderful their FOs are!!! I got almost 80 one ouncers and I'm blown away by them. Haven't put them in products yet but already I don't get as much of a chemical/fakey smell with them OOB like I do most. I'm thinking of making 'Vanilla Sandalwood' my most-used personal fragrance. I may rename 'Essence of Jesus' into 'Magi' because it reminds me of frankincense & myrrh (though frank isn't mentioned in the desc). 'Essence of Bethlehem' is going to be just 'Bethlehem'. 'Dark Knights' smells like a gorgeous man! And I don't know where to start on the rest!!!
  9. Also, there's been some discussion on how air conditioning reduces scent throw or how much you can smell it. That may be some of your difficulties. Or, BCN has a great reputation but they could still have a bum FO every now and then. How strong is it OOB or in other applications (if you've tried it in other stuff)?
  10. I won't waste money on it now, so thank you for that. You really are a sweetiepie.
  11. Heartily agree! The ones from them I've used completely disappeared in CP soap, even after I rebatched and added more FO. The only reason I bought the tonnage of FOs I did was they were holiday clearance, so the prices were better. I'm hoping I can salvage them in tarts and b&b and get some good use out of them. Maybe not burning with an open flame or adding lye to them will make them usable.
  12. Are you referring to the one from Save On Scents? http://www.saveonscents.com/product_info.php/name/Unforgivable%20Sean%20John%20Type%20(M)%20Fragrance%20Oils/products_id/2526 Have you used that one? You've got me very curious now!
  13. I just poured a batch of votives with this FO in 4794 wax, and had no problems. What are 'grubbies'???
  14. OK, question: the olive oil doesn't smell odd with the other stuff? I usually don't use olive oil in my homemade scrubs because I don't want to smell like an Italian restaurant.
  15. I'm also eyeing zeolite to put in a massage oil, but not sure it'll work as I keep seeing it has to come in contact with water for the warming sensation to develop. Anybody know if it works the same in a massage oil where no water is used? Or if it goes totally wonky in oil like that and doesn't work at all? (Edit: After thinking more on this, I bet it would work fine. I've seen it recommended to put in lotions, and lotions usually have some type of oil in them, right?) Vegetable glycerin is the other warming product I've seen mentioned in some posts here. Have any of you compared the 2 to see which has the better effect? Darbla
  16. Do you mean they're vague or something? Several I looked at had descriptions, but some were almost meaningless. For example: Vanilla Voodoo - Alure…Intriging…Vanilla surrounds you. Inhale…deeper…you can't escape and you don't want to. Something else…can't place it…ummmm. Vanilla Voodoo has got you! Some weren't that oblique though: Transcendence - Achieve a new level of awareness. An incredible and complex mixture of scents that don't seem like they belong together. The Ying and Yang of scents. Mint and Musk. Citus and Melon. Floral and Earth. A little of everything. Tiger Lily and Cantaloupe - An unexpectedly beautiful scent! Rich intense Tiger Lily blended with hints of other florals. Chamomile with velvety mimosa and white cyclamen, blend with green pear and fresh juicy cantaloupe
  17. Yeah, I thought about making a 'Man Magnets' line.
  18. Ditto. But now I've got to try out all these others!
  19. I've already stated that I've used fractionated coconut, olive, almond, sweet almond, safflower and others and they performed equally well. Why not use something less expensive if it does as well as something more expensive? Are you not logical? Darbla
  20. Jami. I do not sell to customers and neither did the original poster say she does. I make tiny batches for personal use that are finished up long before they have a chance to go rancid. Every oil I've tried, no matter how inexpensive, has worked wonderfully for the way I've used it.
  21. Can you describe it? Is it in a candle you bought from a specific company? It's possible that name isn't from a scent supplier, but instead was made up by the seller/manufacturer.
  22. I'd go with the cheapest. It's going down the drain anyway. I've used almond, sweet almond, olive, fractionated coconut, safflower and probably several others I'm not thinking of. I will probably stick with safflower or maybe sunflower since they're available in large bottles for cheap.
  23. I dug around in my candle stuff cabinet and found a rather large glass candle holder or vase, and this pillar almost fits down in it. I think I'll shave the sides of the pillar and plop it in, then melt the shavings and make a tart or two. I'll try adding extra Vybar to that too, since that's something I was wanting to experiment with anyway. Can't let this expensive stuff go to waste! Darbla
