  1. I'm going to cave in and order 'Tanzanian Clove' and 'Full Moon' from www.scent-works.com. I can't resist them any longer. What else is particularly good from SW? I make mostly candles and body sprays now, with the occasional melt & pour soap. What FOs have worked really well in those products (no morphing, good strong scent results, etc.)? Thanks!
  2. How about mixing apple and pomegranate and calling it 'Avalon'? You may come up with some other FOs to mix with those 2.
  3. I can not tell you guys how much I appreciate your recs from this company! I got my shipment today and I am in scent heaven right now. 'Gembertaarts' is to die for! I made a body spray (also a product I ordered) immediately. 'Christmas Splendor' reminds me of my favorite Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab perfume oil that I wear at Christmas and a 'Yule' FO I have from a no-longer-in-business candle company (yay! I have a replacement now!). 'Black Magic' will get renamed to 'Black Forest'. 'Country Bumpkin' reminds me of 'Amish Harvest' from Peak Candle. That's just the first few I've checked out and I can't wait to get them in wax! Thank you!!! There is one oddity: I ordered a bunch of 4 oz pump sprays, and the tubes attached to the pumps are way too long for the bottles. The bottom of the tube is pressed against the bottom of the bottle and curved up; it would be impossible to use the last bit of spray this way unless you take the top off and just douse yourself. Is that normal? Am I supposed to cut them down?
  4. Thank you all for the info! So it's no problem if the pots and molds still smell like the previous scent that was used in them? It doesn't affect the next scent you use?
  5. Oooooooo! How are those honey and olive oil m&p bases? Any experience with them?
  6. Well, for what it's worth, I bought several of theirs awhile back for soap. The first one I tried faded completely in the soap (lye/oil recipe), and then I tried rebatching and added more of the same FO and it completely faded again. I was so disappointed I haven't yet done anything with the rest of the FOs I got from them.
  7. Thanks, all ideas are welcomed! Your cedar/patch/cinn reminded me of one I saw at thecandlesource.com: Black Magic - Fresh blend of Fir Tree, Spices, and smooth Vanilla notes
  8. Haha! I hope that's good. You have some great ideas. Thanks for the food for thought!
  9. What about your pour pots (I don't have a Presto pot)? Mine have plastic handles so they can't go in an oven. I've been pouring boiling water into the pour pots with my votive molds inside, swishing it all around, and pouring the water onto an ant bed outside. It seems like more work than it ought to be when I end up doing this 2 or more times before I feel they're clean enough, and every time I fire up a stove eye to boil the water I'm burning up more money. Is there a better (possibly more economical) way to clean the pour pots? Even with that there is usually still some residual scent from the previous FO sticking around the pour pot and molds. Is this normal and nothing to worry about? I don't want the previous FO affecting the next one.
  10. I don't like the mass supplier's 'Witches Brew' so I'm not interested in that FO for my Wicked Wicks line. I'm attempting to come up with my own dark, mysterious 'Witches Brew' or 'Witch's Brew', and I think I'd love dragon's blood / frankincense / myrrh. But I also really love cloves, so do any of you have ideas for other FOs to mix with clove FO? Or I may rename a mulled cider FO into 'WB'. Maybe I can come up with a different name for the db/frank/myrrh blend. I've got OldMillFragrances.com 'Baton Rouge', and I'm thinking of renaming it to 'Haunted Plantation'. Any ideas for a 'Ghost' or 'Spook' FO or blend? All I've come up with so far is vanilla + mint, but that's not exactly what I think my brain is trying to envision. It's not bad but it's not striking a chord with me. Thoughts?
  11. Thanks for the awesome info! I did read the reviews at Scent Review Board, and pretty much every single one was positive, but they were mostly from soapers. There just doesn't seem to be enough of us chandlers posting reviews! Which I hope to change that.
  12. The Candle Source seems to be having a good sale now (4 oz is $3.89)and I'm thinking of ordering the FOs I've listed below. Any experiences with them would be much appreciated. Also if you've used their room/body spray and lotion bases, I'd love to know how they worked for you. Thanks! 13. I'm wondering if Tony's oils are really all that good in candles, period? Some have notes that they were tested in candles, but the majority seems not to have been. And their main page says nothing about candles at all. This is the welcome message from it: "Here you will find top quality fragrance oils at the lowest price as well as the most excellent ingredients that we can offer for your lotions, soaps, and bath/beauty products." On another forum I was reading where several people had given up on trying anything for candles that didn't come from a candle company specifically, so I'm wondering if I want to try/possibly waste the few Tony's oils I have in candles, or if I want to reserve them for b&b only?
  14. I'm in this boat too. I don't want a bakery pumpkin, but something I can tag with the name 'Jack O'Lantern' and sell near Halloween.
  15. I hope they go well for you. I've also been testing a few things: finished pouring votives of Bramble Berry 'Sleeping Angels' and 'Sunset' (from their Cybilla line), and 'Apple Jack & Peel' (from Camden Grey), 'Baton Rouge' from Old Mill Fragrances, and 'Caramel Apple' and 'Vanilla Pumpkin' are next (both from From Nature With Love).
