  1. Works for me now, though earlier today it was "under maintenance".
  2. Butter My Hemp lotion? Hemp Butter lotion (ok, technically you're not using hemp butter per se, but well, there's hemp and there's butter!) Make Me Happy lotion Soothe Me Hemp lotion (bit of randomness) Shea Jane lotion? Mary Jane's Shea lotion! Simply Hempin' lotion Ok, I should stop here before my spree gets too weird.
  3. I'm now waiting for an order from EW to reach Vicky, who needed some items from there, where it will be repackaged and sent to me. I'd like to thank Cindym for coming up with this wonderful thread and Vicky for her help! Let's not let this thread die! Nat, Sally, Ruby, and Sabrina, I hope you've got something worked out on your end too! By the way, anyone ordering from the Herbarie soon? I'm dying to try out some PlantaEm, but not so excited about the $100 minimum for international orders I'd also love to try out some of the EO blends from WSP, but they're not shipping outside the US for the moment. If anyone's getting anything from there, do drop me a note too please! Thank you! (Can you tell I'm happy?)
  4. I'm 23... but can I volunteer too? Looks gorgeously creamy!
  5. Welcome to the addictive world of B&B! Body buffer sounds like a scrub to me. Body butter would be a thick moisturizer, usually only oils/butters and no water, though there are emulsified body butters, which are basically very thick creams. I'd say go with some anhydrous (waterless) products first to get the hang of (and get hooked to) making stuff. Water-free means you don't have to worry about preservatives, though for products that have a high chance of being introduced to water (like scrubs - people tend to use them in the shower and dip wet hands into the jar), you might want to put in a teeny bit of preservative just in case. You could try these: Whipped shea Lip balms Body butters Lotion bars After bath oil Dry oil sprays Bath oils Bath salts/milk baths Bath bombs Facial serums A quick lip balm recipe: 1oz beeswax 2oz butter (shea, mango, avocado, coffee..) 3oz oil (castor! castor! rice bran, olive, sunflower, jojoba, macadamia...) 1tsp flavor or (edible) essential oils (sweet orange, peppermint, eucalyptus...) some vitamin E if you like You can adjust this to a consistency you like. Castor gives great glide and a nice shine to lips, you don't need much Other than that, maybe some whipped shea... 60-80% shea (or mango) butter 20-40% oil (rice bran, jojoba, macadamia, avocado, etc...) 1-3% (of total, adjust accordingly) fragrance/essential oils Different oils will have different skin feels, so it's best to research some then experiment! Bath salts are really, really easy. 3 cups of chunky salt 1 cup of epsom salt 1/2 cup of dried herbs 1 tsp eo/fo 1 cup ground oatmeal Mix it all up, and you're good to go! I like pink himalaya salt with lavender buds. Makes a pretty effect You can also add a little liquid colorant. A nice teal color with peppermint leaves, 1-2 menthol crystals and peppermint eo also makes a pretty cooling foot soak. Note though, a little menthol goes a LONG way! I also once made a nice, simple chocolate facial masque: 1 part cocoa powder 2 parts pastel pink or rose clay 1 part honey powder This smells absolutely delicious, though be careful not to get any on clothing! To use, simply mix 1-2 tsp with liquid of choice - water, milk, yogurt, hydrosols, aloe juice, etc (though you could add milk powder straight into the mix, I'm usually too lazy to go down to the kitchen to get fresh milk). Slather on skin, sit back, relax for 15 minutes and rinse carefully once done. Soft, soft skin! Here's one for a nice body oil: 4 oz macadamia nut oil 4 oz rice bran oil 1 oz jojoba oil 1 oz avocado oil Unscented, this has a pleasant nutty aroma, but you can add 1-3% eo/fo if you like. It's got a nice silky texture and absorbs quite quickly. If you want it even lighter, drop the rbo to 2oz and up both mac and jojoba by 1oz each. You can also substitute different oils and see what you like. A little cyclomethicone can also help if you feel it's too greasy. If you're using oils with short shelf lives, you might want to add a little vitamin E or rosemary oil extract (ROE). For a light moisturizing body spray, try... 60% cyclomethicone 38% fractionated coconut oil (or some other light oil) 2% fragrance For a linen or room spray, forego the oil so you won't risk staining Another simple option would be a salt/sugar scrub, just run a quick search, you'll find tons of scrub recipes! You can tweak all them recipes to what you like... and a search will reveal lots more out there! Hope this helps though
  6. If there's a HTML block, try this: <a href="websiteurl">linktext</a> for example: <a href="http://www.wickedlychic.com/?c=Indie+of+the+Week">Wickedly Chic</a> HTH!
  7. Oops! That was a typo, I meant your recipe has absolutely no water, not no oil, sorry. Liquid germall plus will work in an emulsified scrub (and other water-based and o/w (oil in water) and w/o (water in oil) products), but it won't mix properly into an anhydrous one. Here, these are good reading, might help some http://www.fromnaturewithlove.com/library/preservatives.asp http://www.soapdishforum.com/forum/lofiversion/index.php/t38891.html http://www.lotioncrafter.com/store/Liquid-Germall-Plus-pr-16169.html
  8. What usually needs preservatives is anything with water in it, because that's where the nasties grow. Your recipe has absolutely no oil, but I presume it's a scrub, which people tend to use in the shower. There's a high chance water may get introduced into the jar. Since your product is anhydrous, you're not so much preserving your product as making sure it stays nasties-free if this happens With just any recipe, you'd be preserving the whole concoction, not just certain parts.
  9. A little off the math topic... but you may want to re-check your preservative. I don't see any water in that recipe, and as far as I can remember germall plus is water soluble. You might want to look at liquipar or optiphen?
  10. One day, I'm going to order some of this stuff...
  11. Oh, this is a wonderful thread! I just saw it, thank you Cindy, for thinking of us! I had something worked out with a CT member before - I order and pay for supplies to her, then she forwards them to me via USPS, but now she's got some personal issues so I can't do that anymore, and now I'm in a bit of a fix! I want some things from Herbarie, WSP and Essential Wholesale, but the first has a $100 minimum, the second does not ship overseas and the third has recently forsaken USPS If we overseas members could work something out, that would be awesome! Thank you, thank you! On a side note, these are some suppliers I'm loving - Lotioncrafter, Elements Bath & Body, Garden of Wisdom, Soapcraft (Canada). They all ship USPS, woohoo! GoW has some technical problems with their e-mails, but Markey's wonderful, and when she does get my mails, she's got great customer service.
  12. Honey powder! That stuff is unbelievably awesome for soft skin.
  13. You could also try peppermint hydrosol, maybe? It's rejuvenating and cooling/itch-reducing but will not irritate like the essential oil would. Added with some oatmeal extract, it might help in conjunction with the balm-like things I've never actually tried peppermint hydrosol, but it's said to be good for itching. I find witch hazel and neroli hydrosol useful in a pinch anyhow, so peppermint should be even better! I constantly get hives because my skin is sensitive, but I found that soaper's workshop's shea butter lotion base to which I add some oatmeal extract helped tons too, so I can vouch for the oatmeal...
  14. I've never actually heard of grainy soy wax... it might be unrefined shea.
  15. Hopefully technology will progress that way soon!
  16. Those angels look great, ditzy! If I'm not wrong they can be baked in a regular oven. No need for a kiln. I thought about making polymer clay soap dishes once upon a time... until I saw how much it would come up to. Polymer clay's not cheap! I still love the idea of making my own things though.
  17. I'm looking at AISO.net... they're 100% solar-powered, which I like Unfortunately, for e-commerce, they're $29.95 per month... so probably not going to take that plunge until I'm sure I can cover it monthly.
  18. I really want to just dip my fingers into that and slather it all over me. It's so creamy. Fantastic job!
  19. If Rebecca (Picard) did it, I'd invest in a billboard
  20. Luckily for me, I can smile politely and say "Overseas."
  21. That sounds great! Congratulations and good luck!
  22. I love your Forbidden Apple blush, it looks like a lovely shade! Could that possibly be made with a subtle gold shimmer? I've got a strong yellow undertone in my skin, so gold looks good on me Also love the Emerald Sea eyeshadow! Oh, I found a small typo while I was looking through the blushes: "Use our blush as and Eye shadow..."
  23. I've only ordered once from you, but I hope things go well for you, Jennifer!
  24. Servicing one wholesale buyer or 100 individual end consumers... take your pick!
