  1. Hmm... that actually makes me want to try getting MP soap and liquid soap just to play with... maybe create some new fusion soap!
  2. (Syn)thetic (Det)ergents. This means it's not true soap (lye + oils) but more like commercial shampoo. There are lots of surfactants that can fall under this category - SLS, SLSa, Plantapon, polyglucosides... The ones from Wylde Ivy are made from syndets, but in a solid bar, rather than the usual liquid. http://wyldeivy.com/Shampoo-c-58.html
  3. There's germaben, phenoxyethanol, phenonip, potassium sorbate. I've definitely seen phenoxyethanol in spray/spritz type applications... even for something eye-related, though I can't quite remember offhand what it was. It's available from Essential Wholesale. The rest you may have to search a little, I'm just popping some options, I'm not too sure if they can all be sprayed. Cosmocil CQ is another very mild option, though it may need to be used in conjunction with potassium sorbate.
  4. Until my website is up, I'm actually using a blogspot as a reference spot. Maybe you could have a blogspot for your stuff, and pop the testimonials in there? Either way, collect them, testimonials are always valuable marketing tools... sometimes they're what convinces a customer to fork out the greens... I always like reading reviews and testimonials... though I've always credited the term "review" a little more integrity than "testimonial".
  5. Which reminds me that I want to try the solid syndet shampoo bars from Wylde Ivy...
  6. I was thinking... TOOTH SOAP! Stevia's apparently good for your teeth, unlike other sweeteners... and came across a tooth soap thread on the Dish. So I'm thinking peppermint and stevia...
  7. Even so, they should have returned the candles if those avenues didn't pan out. I think Sassy "gave" them the candles on a consignment basis, so she placed the stock with them, and they were supposed to pay her the wholesale cost later once they'd sold them and were able to, rather than on the spot. These "friends" though apparently just used the candles to make a quick buck, and seem to have no intention of paying Sassy.
  8. Not sure if you mean something like this: http://www.soapersworkshop.com/store/index.php?page=Product%20Pricing%20Formula
  9. Ooh, pretty! I like avocados and mangoes too
  10. When she said shampoo, my first thought was syndet shampoos! :lipsrseal
  11. What sort of shampoos are you talking about... liquid soap shampoos, solid shampoo bars, or syndet (synthetic detergent) shampoos?
  12. That's covered in Bath, Body & Cosmetics, actually, unless you're talking about solid shampoo bars.
  13. You could try Mountain Rose Herbs too.
  14. Lindsay has some on her site - http://www.soapersworkshop.com They're reasonably priced and come with 16oz of base, 100 lip balm tubes, a few pipettes and enough flavor oil for the whole lot. Her flavor oils are really strong! She recommends 1% but I have the pomegranate and at that amount, it just blows me away. Probably going to use less next time.
  15. No problem, have fun with them! They've got lots of yummy stuff on the side too.
  16. There's Herbal Accents... they have it at one of the best prices I've seen ($9.50 pp), but they also have a $35 minimum order. http://www.herbalaccents.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=HA&Category_Code=CLAYS Mountain Rose Herbs has pretty good prices too, though I'm not sure if it's micronized. http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/clay/clay.html There's also New Directions Aromatics... lots of plugs for rhassoul on their site... http://www.newdirectionsaromatics.com/rhassoul-clay-p-1268.html Soapies' Supplies has both micronized and chunks, but they're OOS for micronized at the moment. http://www.soapies-supplies.com/shop/Rhassoul-Clay-pr-105.html Brambleberry... http://www.brambleberry.com/micas.html And if you're in Canada... try Soapcraft. Karen's lovely, excellent customer service. http://soapcraft.ca/claysandsalts.html I love GoW, but perversely they have one of the highest prices I've seen for rhassoul About $9.80 for 8oz
  17. Perhaps I wasn't very clear, and I apologize for that. Both oz weight and fluid oz are still technically ounces. It appears to be commonly assumed that oz without "fl" is weightage. If you scout around though, you'll notice that for products that go by weight there are some labels that list oz wt, and not just oz, which in my opinion is more accurate. As for the second comment, Malaysia uses the metric system (g and ml). I don't actually need to know the difference between ounces to sell anything.
  18. Not too sure, but I'll assume that they're going by volume then, rather than weight. When you really think about it, 2oz is a little vague, it's doesn't quite state weight (wt) or fluid volume (fl). NOTE: Just looked up fluid ounces, and this statement from wikipedia clears up a few points: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluid_ounce In either system, the unit is often abbreviated as fl. oz., oz. fl., or fl oz. In the USA, it is common to refer to the unit simply as an "ounce", especially in cases where no confusion can occur with the unit of weight. So it's a cultural thing, I guess. "oz" in the US is used interchangeably between volume and weight, it just needs to be taken in context. With that in mind, I'd assume jars are categorized by fluid ounces rather than weight. It makes sense, since you can somewhat standardize how much volume goes into the jar, but not how heavy the substance will be. Hope this helps!
  19. Well, it would be much easier to just label it "1 fl oz" It's really your choice though, if you'd rather go by weight, that can do as well, though it might be harder to get it consistent, especially if you have several recipes. If you put a whipped butter and a balm into the same jars, they'd weigh significantly different. The same 2 (fl) oz jar may take 2 oz wt of balm, but only 0.5 oz wt of whipped butter. Then you've got batch differences... if you whip one batch of butter slightly more than the last, you'll have less weight for the same volume of whipped butter compared to your previous batch! ... and no problem, the point of this forum is to help one another learn... I've learned a lot here, just about everyone's pretty helpful, so it's only fair that I share some love!
  20. No, I meant 1 ounce in weight (oz wt) versus 1 fluid ounce (fl oz) in volume. Volume is the amount of space your lotion occupies, not how much it weighs. For example, if you whip butter, it will double in volume (become much, much fluffier and take up more space in the bowl) because you're whipping air in, but the weight remains the same. The metric equivalents are: oz = g fl oz = ml It could be that your jar uses the measurement of 1 fl oz (~30ml) rather than 1 oz weight (~30g). The standard should be the weight or volume of water. If your lotion has ingredients that are denser than water, it'll be heavier. It'd be easier for you to just label it by fl oz, rather than weight. If you really want to go by weight though, pour while it's on the scale and tweak accordingly.
  21. Are you sure the jars are 1 oz by weight and not 1 fl oz? I think jars usually go by volume, not weight.
  22. Definitely very relaxing on the eyes... the color combination is soothing. I like your logo too, it's simple, but it has a good flow going Now for my other 2 cents... More pictures! I love it when I see lots of pretty images on the front page... it's what draws the customer in and encourages them to explore. An alternative would be to make the main picture bigger so there's a focal point when the customer first opens your main page. I notice a bit of a gap between the text and the main picture... Secondly, the left and right columns don't line up correctly at the bottom for me... the right is significantly shorter? Also, I got a little confused when I clicked Products on the nav bar, but didn't see any products immediately in the main column. It took me a minute to notice the new links on the nav bar. Maybe add links directly to the actual product pages on the main column as well under each subcategory? On a side note, I like the pic for the 1/4 oz shea mango butter body cream!
