I got my shipment today, I am trying these wicks for the first time, upon looking at them they look like a zinc core. Am I just trippin? Does anyone want to comment on these? TIA natalie

Granted I have been doing a power burn today, went outside to do some yardwork and when I came back in Wow Hot apple pie is a house filler. Granted this had quite a cure, at least a month. I am very pleased with this scent. I used ecosoya pure. Natalie

Lots of companies sell the same wax, but under a different name. There is pure soy or soy with a few additives. Anything you try and stick with will become your best soy, in my opinion. My best advise would be not to follow all the rules for the particular soy you choose. Natalie

This scent is doing great in my eco pure. It is a clean scent with slight floral hints. I think these testers cured for about a month though, well worth the wait. Strong hot throw for a light fragrance. Natalie

I have to chime in. CS cranberry marmalade is excellent, for me achieving a pretty red color to accompany with the fragrance was hard. Red is easy in some other scents, so I wondered if that particular FO blended with red was a tough combo. So much frosting with my pure soy. Natalie

The flat wicks that crackle like a fire when they burn. I know somebody sells them, I cant remember who, does anyone else know? Anyone used these that would like to comment? I need a system to organize suppliers of who has what, bookmaking them does not work so well for me, any suggestions? Thanks Natalie

Is the Peaks Ocean a very light scent? Is it requiring 11/2 ounces? Just curious. natalie

Wow what a crazy thread, I did not start with a kit, I started at the Candle Science website, started with 50 lbs of wax, lx wicks, jj's, 2 pour pitchers, thermometer and a old electric skillet. Also 8 ounces each fragrance I wanted. I was completely candle crazy for at least a year, reading and testing. After a year I took a complete month off, then after awhile finally joined this board. The cool thing is that I usually get "donations" from friends and family. The uncool thing is that I am only satisfied with about 20% of the fragrances I test in soy. Making candles is a blast, don't take the ingredients very serioulsy, and only mention this hobby to a few people or you will get a huge following of "testers" but that is what makes this fun. Just By Nature carries a cinnamon bayberry that is excellent in soy. It always happens, just when I want to throw soy out the window a friend will say to me, one of your candles smelled up the whole house. Today cinnamon bayberry was the one, hint of cinnamon hint of bayberry. Also JBN has a citrus and teak that is great in soy. I think personally I am going to test Peaks caramel apple. Natalie

Any thoughts on these? The prices are reasonable and I had not heard of them until I ran across the votivo red currant post. They are at scent works, and wondered if anyone using soy has had good results. Thanks Natalie

I think that is great for a melt pool, how is the scent throw for your particular scent? Also what are you burning? Natalie

I guess what I am asking is does more surface area for more of a melt pool equal more hot throw?

Does it really matter what diameter my jar is for scent throw. I have avoided 16 ounce containers for some reason. For example could a 8 oz jj have as much throw as a 16 ounce apothacary jar, or a wide mouth mason? Is this a silly question with a obvious answer? Thanks Natalie

Candlescience has 8 ounce jj's for 3.99 a dozen. They have several lids to match. I never looked into 9 ounce jars. Natalie
