  1. The website has soy performance as strong in candles. For those of you who use pure soy, does this ring true? I think I want to try this supplier for the first time. What do they package their oils in? Thanks, Natalie
  2. Has anyone tried these from Bittercreek? Also seems to not be a lot of buzz about this company when I read the archives. I have never tried them, but I am thinking about trying Vanilla bean, I guess vanilla velvet is one of their all time best vanillas? The WYW fragrances are pricey. I use pure soy. I guess what I want to know is are they worth a whirl? Natalie
  3. I am wondereing if I got bags of lx's that were marked with the wrong size? What started my whole confusion was when I pulled out an 8 ounce tureen that I cured for a year and a half it was wicked with what I had in my notes as a lx 26, but it had a larger bottom tab. I did the exact same formula because that candle burned soooo good. Now that I have ordered lx 28's the tabs are bigger and after testing them in the tureen I got the same results with the 28's. Also had 3 bags of 24's put them in 3 different jj's and they were ordered at different times and 1 burned clean. The other two exact same size according to marked bag left hang up. Its just sad because my friends and family see me rambling to myself about these wicks and they think im crazy. Natalie
  4. I usually order bags of 100 pretabbed wicks, I swear the same size can vary from bag to bag. Anyone else have this happen? Also I am finding I am wicking up quite a bit with my new JS oils, anyone else? I am curing and burning mojito and cosmopolitan. I have posted this before but they are great scents in pure soy. Natalie
  5. I have been testing JS cosmopolitan, electiric watermelon tini, tiki tini, and mojito. My oob was great and in wax after 2 days of curing I am very impressed. My wicking of course changed but that is why I order 4 ounces now. lol I wish I would have tried JS sooner, as many of you know finding fragrances is sometimes diffucult. So after almost 2 years of making candles and at a rough estimate, I have tested over 60 fragrances. Honestly I have before the "tini's" about 6 fo's that I REALLY love in my soy. I realize that some of the testers I maybe did not have enough of to play around with the temp of when to add but WOW that's 10 % !!! Is this common? Natalie
  6. I started on 8 oz jellies. In pure soy, which I think your KY only has like 2% cottonseed so they are similar. I started with LX 22's and found the 24's to have a great burn pool and never left hangup. I dont know if another wick would actually give me throw, I cant decide if it is meltpool or wick that gives the fragrance throw. IMO the LX's sometimes need to be upped at least 2 sizes than from what is recommended. HTH Natalie '
  7. I have been curing a Fig Forest from CS. I used pure soy and about 9% Fo in a 3 inch diameter frosted tumbler with bright green color chips, I thought I loved CS Med Fig but this is better! A complex scent, its been burning for 3 hours and I am happy with frag throw and meltpool, eco 12. Whats everybody else sniffin? Natalie
  8. Is it the meltpool or the wick that is responsible for fragrance throw? I thought it was the meltpool, and as long as your wick was creating one the wick was a personaly preference. Are some of you wicking different fragrances with different types and getting different results? For example from what I thought use a RRD for heavier fragrances. Today I am burning a candle using JBN Citrus and Teak, it is so nice, much beter than Indo Teak IMO Thanks Natalie
  9. What a great reveiw thanks for sharing. Natalie
  10. Thank you for honest imput. I have tried samples from 6 places at this point and have found some very nice fragrances, but without trying the more costly places I guess I was afraid I might be missing something. I did however go through a dud phase around Christmas and I think I got a little discouraged. You know changing wax looking for new suppliers, having doubts you know----- serious delima's HAHA Thanks again Natalie
  11. Thanks I have been looking at their FO's. I will check thay out. Natalie
  12. I love those jars and in my opinion less is more. I would not want to much label on that sort of candle, I have researched er'go and pacifica and I love their marketing for that type of tumbler. I know you have worked hard on them, a decision would be difficult. Good Luck Natalie
  13. Do I blend 70% pure soy and 30% paraffin or is this sold by someone. I cant believe I am actually gonna do this to myself again. I want to test this I THINK??? Would not have a clue as far as wicking, I know it is probally in the archives I just never even considered this until today. TIA Natalie
  14. Thank goodness I am feeling validated! I recieved my shipment today from NG and DB said one smelled like cleaner and another one smelled like carpet freshner. I ordered a lb of Monkey Farts per soooo many good reviews. Now smelling it oob I know it is probally not my type of fragrance but thought it would generate some buzz for my candles just because of the name. I posted a question more expensive = better. I dont like NG packaging, I think I am spoiled by CS glass bottles and Peaks are at least dark and I can see through them. I will hope I will be surprised when they get in wax. I can say I am way more excited by the JS 4 oz sampler, plus samples, none from NG. Natalie
  15. The pint platinum jars are at walmart, I have only seen the 1/2 pint platinums at fillmore container. I received my lx 28's and eco 14's today, and I will test soon. I have some cd 20's I need to try them in a smaller container I think I have only tried them once or twice. CS told me today that I could add my FO at 180 in the ecosoya today, I guess they have been doing some testing, then pour at 130 or so. I might try that. Natalie
  16. Im trying to get the best quality oils, does that mean I am gonna have to pay more? I would appreciate honest imput. Rain all week here in the midwest, would not mind some sun! Thanks Natalie
  17. Also I heat my jars with this wax and pour at 150 it helped my frosting A Lot, and great glass adheasion. Nat
  18. After a lot of talking to myself, I am going to stick with the ecosoya, overall I get great results. In the square masons I use a lx26, sometimes a htp 105. I have the Ball Platinums and on Tuesday ordered large wicks because I dont want to double wick the 16 ounce. So I have been held up a little, I could I guess test some fragrances in my square masons, but I am dying to get to the platinums, wish ups man would get here. After reading the poll on wax I dont think the ecosoya is real popular but it what I started with so I decided not to change. HTH Natalie
  19. I think this is great!!! I will use it, only thing I am finding more suppliers? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Natalie :embarasse
  20. My CS shipment of wicks and 12 new FO's from two new suppliers, has not arrived yet, checked the garage, looked all around the porche, they must arrive tomorrow. Im dying to try these jars! Natalie
  21. I would also have to say that after a lot of research CS is the least expensive. But at flea markets, and garage sales sometimes you can find a good bargain. When I first started the 8 ounce jelly from CS was perfect. Natalie
  22. I have bought the jars, ordered the scents and am waiting for eco 14's and lx 28's. Those are the largerst wicks I have ever purchased, stayed away from htp 1212's, I dont seem to like Htp's. I will be using pure soy. Anyone had good luck with these jars. I think a lot of us bought at least a few to try, I thought people liked the plain square "mason" jar. I am totally excited to give these to some testers. Let me know how it is going. Natalie
  23. Fillmore has some cute ones for the 8 oz. Are you talking about the adorable Platinum series 16 ounce? Theres a link on that thread to Fillmore, they had at least 5 different lids, they are the same size mouth, I know you know that, but someone did mention hot glue gunning the two piece lids that come with the mason jars. Check them out. Natalie
  24. Thanks!! The goo gone and SOS pads are at the supermarket. No more excuses I guess I'll be busy tomorrow. natalie
