  1. Linda we are in the same state. I live in Salina, and I did not know we had a Cargill plant, and my uncle grows soybeans on the farm. I was going to try C3, but instead have recently tested gb444. I haven't posted my thoughts because I have not made a decision yet. But you sound impressed with Cargill maybe I will try one more wax. I started on ecosoya 100%, I think it performs really well but think trying one more wax might be worth my while. Natalie PS Pretty gloomy here today
  2. Jami When I read your post about the wicks in the 444 I wished that the wicks would have just worked. I have in the past had a great melt pool and great scent throw and forgot to mark the containers with the wick I used. Sometimes I wonder if the stars need to be in alignment for a pour lol. I hope everything works out. Im getting phyched to try my 444 now. Natalie
  3. im brain dead peaks has a sample of 444 natalie
  4. ics has it sorry wrong wax natalie
  5. cs was out of 444 got a sample from peaks on tues gonna try it tonight, there has been a ton of info hth natalie
  6. I was curious about when to add fragrance too. Natalie
  7. Last night I did some research and geek did a test of gb444 a while ago. So when I get around to my first pour I am gonna heat to no hotter than 170 and pour at about 130. At least I am gonna start there. So far I havent got up the nerve or something I recieved my gb444 on Tuesday. Natalie
  8. Missy, have I read in previous posts that you use C3? Is that what JBN tests in? Just curious, I want and need to try their Mexican Vanilla. People are crazy about vanilla candles. Natalie
  9. Hi Jami, I too recieved my GB 444 today but did not try it. I think we had some good advise from the last thread that you started "how many times have you changed wax? Tomorrow I am going to test Peaks birds of paradise, and pink sugar, two in each type of wax, my ecosoya pure soy and my new GB444. Im not so excited after seeing your post. I hope you notice a difference in hot throw, let us know. Natalie
  10. I have not blended any scents yet. I have a strawberry from Peaks and a sample of stargazer lily from JBN. So Im gonna give it a whirl. I noticed you are located in So Cal, any fragrance trends you could mention. Thanks, Natalie
  11. Hi Katie I just tested JBN hawaiian sandlewood I would give it a average rating, decent hot throw, what I do really like from JBN is the citris and teak. It is woodsy which I like, with a fresh citris, great hot throw in pure soy. I just recently ordered samples and some larger sizes, is JBN one of your favorite? Natalie
  12. I poured citris and Teak and Indo teak 2 days ago in 100% ecosoya, citis and teak has a great hot throw, I used a eco wick. I tried several non bakery non fruit non floral scents and this one was finally good. Tried patchouli but thats boring same with sandlewood. Any recs for woodsy herb type fo's? Natalie
  13. At the Peaks sight under candle making info at the very bottom of the page has a picture and instructions. The parts that they suggest, the sizes that is were hard for me to locate. So I get a little drip, used the one that I didnt make into a spicket. My wax dropps so much in temp when I put it in glass but it definitely does take out the guesswork. Natalie
  14. Has anyone attached the spicket? If not, anyone do something handy to get the wax in the pour pitcher? Ive been using a measuring cup? Natalie
  15. It seems as though gb 444 and 415 have some good advantages. My post has to be quick I think my family is going to do a "Im on the candle supply sites" too much intervention. I will sneak a peak over the weekend. Have a good one everybody. Natalie
  16. Im right there with ya. I ordered sample packs this year from Moon Glow Soy and JBN. A lot of them were not very good. Last year when I started I only used CS fo's and I got lucky because Vicky has every scent listed that I tried on the soy fo list. I had good results, but being a beginner I was, well you know, going crazy learning to wick. So for this year having scents that either weren't worth it or I do something wrong. I read the list you had decided on for FOH and now I cant find the post, and I read your I C S scent review. I am going to try some more fo's I guess that might be funner than trying a different wax right now. Natalie
  17. I am curious about this too. I have used only ecosoya 100% pure and after 150 lbs I was considering either c3 by cargill or container blend 135 by ecosoya. Also there is a post under general candle making that has me considering paraffin wax. I guess also there are parasoy blends. All in all I am still having a blast. Natalie
  18. Oh I dont know if cs shippes to canada. I did not know that was an issue what a bummer. Natalie
  19. The Mac Apple that cs sells is nice, but I have nothing to compare it to. That is the only supplier I have tried it from. I did get good reviews from friends and family and they have been honest, to a crazy fault almost. Natalie
  20. I received my strawberry from Peaks yesterday, also a good oob mandarin plum sample! After one day of curing I have good cold throw. I think it smells great, it takes me back to my moms strawberry incense from the 70's. Im going to wait to burn for a couple more days. Peaks had hyacinth for one day and they are out of stock again. I am wanting to try that fo, it gets a lot of positive feedback. Natalie
  21. I have read many good reviews about Hyacithns from Peaks but cant find it now on their website. When I started making candles I bought only from CS. I have had great luck with cranberry marmalade, med fig, fig forest, mistletoe all in pure soy. Moon glow soy testers were a bomb except for apple strudle. JBN had a hit with ginger bergamont. Since I am fairly new, did ICS buy Snowtop correct? And from reading posts it sounds like I need to try Monkey Farts and Pink Sugar from MC. Just got strawberry from Peaks and poured 3 testers, my boyfriend said oob smelled like cough syrup:angry2: MC has a great strawberry jam I have read. Im having a blast with this. Thanks for everything. Natalie
  22. Thanks for the honest opinion, that was hilarious.
  23. I have been using glue dots for quite some time now. I used to pour my pure soy at a lower temperature 125 degrees and did not have a problem with them lifting off the bottom. Now after lots of experimenting I add fo at 175 and pour at 150 and a lot of the time they dont stick. Do a lot of you use a glue gun or something else that will stay in place? Also after 150 pounds of 100% pure soy for containers I am considereing cb 135, any opinions of whether or not I will notice an increase in my hot and cold throw. Thanks, Natalie
  24. I have also been searching for a strawberrry scent, decided to order Peaks strawberry, rather than a strawberry jam from another supplier. I guess I'll see. My mom suggested a strawberry for summer, do a lot of you do well in summer with a fruit scent?
  25. JBN carries Indonesian Teak and oob smells good. Havent tested my tester yet. Yesterday I poured Citris and Teakwood from JBN and today I have a good cold throw in 100% pure soy.
