  1. Cinnamon Sugar from Brambleberry is skin safe. And so is Cinnamon Stick from Southern Soapers. If skin safe and used in moderation, you should get no burning or irritation... unless you have sensitive skin maybe. Some individuals are just sensitive to any skin safe spicy FO.
  2. Well... I'm not doing it anymore. I'm sick and tired of picking up glass and cleaning up the mess. And not to mention, the big ones are expensive (well, to me they are expensive) for them to keep exploding on me and wasting my money. I don't heat for long... two minutes tops and then I take it out, stir a while, then put it back in for short bursts. Maybe people are right... they don't make stuff like they used too. I have an OLD small (8 oz) pyrex measuring cup that belonged to DH's grandmother... never cracked or exploded yet(knock on wood). I wanted to avoid the double boiler thing... because to me it takes so long to do and it's just time consuming. I have to run to Walmart today, I will look for microwavable plastic measuring cups. I'm not even sure if they sell this or not...lol but I've had it with glass. If they do make something plastic and that microwavable, I'm sure I'll have to replace them often... because doesn't plastic break down after so much use (with the heating)? I wouldn't want the plastic components leeching into my products. Sigh... I don't know! I might have to do the double boiler thing if that's the case.
  3. With a wet washcloth. Maybe I need to try a softer one. Maybe it IS the washcloth that is irritating me and I'm blaming it on the oils. Carebear... do you find that a DRY washcloth takes the oil off well? Smooth plastic edge...lol a lettuce knife came to mind for some odd reason..... rotf lmao
  4. I've already went through numerous glass pyrex measuring dishes (32 oz. size) and replacing them from explosions in the microwave from melting beeswax, along with some oils for lip balms and butter bars. Tonight was the last straw. While it didn't explode in the micro... I set it on the counter after only two minutes in the micro... then I started to stir it and then I heard... PING! Right smack dab in the middle of the glass on the side... it started cracking. I grabbed a dish towel to bring it to the trash can, because I KNEW it was fixing to explode. Well, it did explode.. but half got everywhere on the floor. I just got finished vacuuming up pieces of glass and wiping down the floor a gazillion times with wet paper towels to catch the tiny tiny shards of glass. I've fooking had it with glass, ya hear me??? How many glass measuring dishes have you went through? lol I'll need to invest in microwavable plastic I guess. :rolleyes2 Does anyone here use plastic with good results? I'm sure they are not as easy to clean as glass... and would have to be replaced often due to the plastic breaking down right?
  5. I decided to try this method again, because my skin needs desperate help. lol I've tried numerous combos of oils the first go round trying this method, and I can't seem to get the right combo and % of oils that's right for my skin. I always end up with red, dry, irritated skin. It was starting to work when I first started this method... but between the purging and the irritation... I couldn't take it anymore. Anyhoo... Me and certain oils don't get along... Olive... ugh...not good. Straight OO on my face (even EVOO), gives me cystic like pimples. Those hurt! RBO on my face... same thing. I recently purchased some Pistachio Oil and Borage Oil. Pistachio is supposed to be good for facial skin, and doesn't clog the pores (or so I read somewhere here online...). Borage Oil is quite a heavy oil, but it's good for acne and blemishes, red inflamed skin, dry scaly skin, and wrinkles!! (I have all of the above!!) So tonight, I did a combo of 30% castor 60% pistachio 10% borage I find the castor at 30% is still too high for me! My face feels very dry and tight, and not to mention a tad bit rosy (red) and feels irritated. So... you people that do OCM... did you find that too much castor made your face feel irritated? I know the castor is what draws out... but if I keep lowering my % of castor, aren't I compromising the drawing properties that I need doing the OCM?
  6. Looking for honey graham cracker FO that's skin safe.... one that smells realistic... Anyone have any recommendations as to where I can find a good one?
  7. Orange and Plumeria??! What a weird combo! But usually the weird combos smell the best! lol Thanks for the tip SoapDiva, I will definitely try it!
  8. Essence of Bethlehem Star of David Temple Incense Shalom ??? That's all I come up with.
  9. What other products are you using in your hair? Some styling products will make your scalp itch (in my experience). Have you tried any speciality shampoos? There's a few out there on the market you can try to see if they help. Maybe talk to your hairdresser/stylist and see what she/he recommends. With you having so many allergies, I would be afraid to suggest any kind of EO's... since the majority are plant/flower derived. In my experience, if you have food allergies, you're bound to have some kind of other hidden allergies (pollen, ragweed, etc.) even though you may not know it. Allergies suck! lol Why wouldn't you want to put coconut oil on your scalp? Oh my! If you haven't tried a warm coconut oil hair & scalp treatment, you don't know what you're missing! LOL Pure divinity! Warm up a bit of coconut oil in the micro... then apply it to your dry hair and scalp and just MASSAGE. Make DH do it. LOL You'll feel like you're at the spa. Then hop in the shower and wash it out. I'd try the baby shampoo thing too... and maybe use unscented... maybe it's the fragrance that's irritating you. ETA: Maybe try a shampoo bar. Do you make CP soap? You can make your very own shampoo bar tailor made to your own liking, using oils that doesn't work up your allergies.
  10. Pink Sugar is still my #1 seller of all time. If I get rid of it, my customers will shoot me. Even though I'm sick and tired of it.... it sells like the dickens. I've been eyeing some spring scents too. I'm not a floral lover, but I need to start experimenting more with florals and offering them to my customers. I'm thinking: Lilac (ugh...) Plumeria Lily of the Valley And I'm thinking of Jasmine, but haven't found one that doesn't smell like cat pee. I'm definitely bringing in Herbal Raspberry and Bartlett & Basil from AH/RE this spring. Talk about WOW!
  11. Looks great Jennie! Love the swirl action ya got goin' on. Got any cut pics?
  12. EO of Lavender goes well with many things! Lavender & Oatmeal soap... Lavender & Rosemary... Lavender & Mint... Lavender & Chocolate, Lavender & Pumpkin, Lavender & Patchouli....and Lavender & Lemon (my personal favorite!) There's other blends that I'm sure I'm not listing right here...
  13. I've had that happen to me one time. I did Hey Sugar from Daystar (it's like a lemony pink sugar) and I swear, they looked like muffins rising. I would squish them down, only to come back minutes later, and they would rise more. They smelled like lemony, sugary muffins. lol I trashed them. I didn't use witch hazel like you though, I used alcohol to spritz my mix. To this day, I still don't know WHY. But of course, I can't make a decent, pretty looking bath bomb to save my life. That's why I tweaked Bunny's Bath Melt recipe to make it feel like a bath bomb. So no more messing with regular bath bombs! lol
  14. Corn-fed Eye Candy Hot and Bothered Midwest Gentleman (or Southern Gentleman in my case ) Mystery Man 007 (can you use that?) Rock Hard I love playing Scented's naming games. lmao
  15. I know it does that to me sometimes. I know the address is correct, I know the zip is correct, but it still gives me an error message (or invalid address message). When this happens, I have to go through paypal to print my label. If you go under Merchant Services, use Multiorder Shipping. From there, you can enter your address that you need to ship to with no problems. HTH!!
  16. Stella by Stella McCartney Type. Very chic and classy IMO. And I'm diggin' the Vanilla Type Dupes from Daystar (Island Vanilla is one, it's Fleurie de Tahiti Type- La Maison de la Vanille Brand). And I'm not a vanilla lover either. But this one is so complex, you smell something different in it with every whiff you take. (Don't judge it OOB, put it in something and you'll see what I mean).
  17. Creme de Cassis from Southern Soapers. I use this scent for my Love Buttah and people love it. I also just recently purchased Cinnamon Sugar from Brambleberry to give it a shot for Valentine's Day.
  18. I went check Cajuns, and I don't see Peach. They must have discontinued it you think? I've been eyeing the one from scent works... but I've been on the fence about it. You're description of juice running down the chin just maybe changed my mind! lol I'm writing it down on my Peach List. lol I had bought Peach FO from Bear Labs (www.incenseoils.com) . I used 1 oz. PP and Whoa! It's really strong at first (smells like Off Bug Spray I tell ya), but after a cure, it mellows out into a fantastic peach. I still have a few scrap bars here from over a year ago, and it still smells true and strong. I tried it in B&B and it just smells like Off to me. He doesn't carry it anymore, but I just went look recently and he carries a Peach Pie, I doubt it's the same peach I used. He buys discontinued oils from manufacturers (at least that's what he told me) so once he sells out of certain stock, he no longer carries it).
  19. In your opinion, who has the best peach FO? I'm looking for a really juicy, realistic peach for B&B. I had a good one for CP soap (the scent stuck like a mofo), but it was so fooking strong that it smelled like OFF Bug Spray in leave on products...it only smelled nice in soap. I personally love peaches, so now I'm on search for a good one. I know there's ALOT of different peaches out there.... So.... what's your favorite Peach FO and from where???
  20. But what if she were to "embrace" the kokum nut specks (I'm sure they are no bigger than any other exfoliant)? (and I'm also thinking she doesn't have ALOT of specks, but maybe I'm wrong). Now, if she has a crap load of this unrefined kokum... I'd say yeah, take ND up on the offer. But if you have less than a lb. left to play with... why not make it worth your while? A nice soap made with unrefined kokum butter, with added kokum nut specks (LOL) and vanilla bean fibers, or Apricot Kernel Meal for mild exfoliation. Embrace the kokum nut specks dahling. lmao
  21. I'd say do something clean, like a Downy Type scent or maybe Clean Cotton.
  22. Just. Frickin'. Gorgeous. I love it! Ok, so what's inside? Another candle? Wow. I have got to get me one of those!
  23. I usually make my scrubs without color or FO (only add perservative) and store it in a bucket with a tight fitting lid. When it's set up, mine is hard/thick also (not so much in the summer, but the winter it gets hard). When it's time to do orders, I take out the amount I need, add FO and color, and either stir really well to incorporate (the FO helps alot to loosen the scrub up) or I put my whisk attachment on my stick blender and give it a few whirls. I don't know about heating it... wouldn't the sugar start to dissolve a bit? And if you heat it, it might destroy your perservative.
  24. Gran... it's like a bath melt. I use the Bath Melt recipe in the recipe section, but I use different butters and I add polysorbate to help with the greasies. So while it's a bath melt, it feels like a bath bomb in the tub, no greasies left behind like a regular bath melt. Yep, I just put it in candy molds instead of making balls or using the small cupcake mold. Me and regular bath bombs don't get along. I can't make a decent bath bomb to save my life. lol Way too much humidity where I'm at.
