I know when I soap in the winter, I HAVE to cover my soaps. I just slap the lid on. And I leave it on. No peeking. I find that during the winter months, if I don't cover, I get really bad, thick ash, that I can just roll off in layers. Ugh. I don't insulate either. I can only leave my soaps out in the summer time, with no covering. You think maybe the type of climate you are in contributes to something like this happening? Like if you live in a high humidity area? I mean, I'm no meterologist...lol but I know I live in a high humidity area (don't you do too Carole?)... and right now it's cold. But it's not a "dry" cold per say. It's more of a "wet" cold feeling. KWIM? Might have something to do with the winter ash we get.
