  1. I personally don't think they would look bad wrapped first and then placed in the bag. Oftentimes many products are double-packaged like that. Give it a try and see what it looks like. You may be surprised! Post pics when you get it done!
  2. That sounds great. Wishing you the best of luck. Be sure to keep us posted!
  3. Since you already tie ribbon on your other bars, I think sockmonkey's idea sounds like a winner.
  4. Going to get started pouring container candles with my fall scents. Hoping to work on some votives, too. With vacation and other summer activities, I've not kept up as much as I should. Time to get cracking again!
  5. Very nice. I especially like the outdoorsy background on the pics of your candles! Looks great!
  6. Thanks everyone! I appreciate the help!!:smiley2:
  7. The only chocolate I have used so far is Peaks German Chocolate Cake. Smells GREAT ... just like the real thing!
  8. If your craft fair allows it, I would burn a candle. Unfortunately, some of the indoor craft fairs in my area do not allow burning of candles. Be sure to check with the fair organizers.
  9. I recently purchased 3 different size crates to use in packaging of my container candles. The crates are: 4-1/8" wide, 10" long and 3" deep (holds three 8-oz. jelly jars; 4-1/8" wide, 7" long and 3" deep (holds two 8-oz. jelly jars); and 3" wide, 10" long and 3" deep (holds three 4-oz. jelly jars). With excelsior shred in the crates, the presentation is very cute and goes very well with the country/prim look I'm trying to achieve. I would like to shrink wrap the crates once assembled to keep everything in place and keep the excelsior shred from falling out. Does anyone know where I can find shrink wrap to fit the dimensions of these crates? Right now I'm using Sam's Choice stretchable wrap, which works, but doesn't look as "finished" as it would if they were shrink wrapped. Thanks for any suggestions!
  10. I like it. I've seen kraft labels printed in black and they look good ... also in dark brown looks good. Like the other said, maybe darken up some of the lettering, but otherwise, I like it!
  11. My sister bought one and said it was a major disappointment because it didn't last very long at all! A major money-making gyp!
  12. How great is that not having any competition with the same products?! I'm doing a 2-day holiday craft fair in November -- my first as well -- and I know there will be other candle crafters there. Makes me nervous but I've been working very hard to make my product look good and be priced competitively. And $75 for a 3-day gig is a good price if you ask me. I'm paying the same for the two days. My sister and I are going in together as well. She does B & B. Good luck to you !!!!!
  13. That is a real treasure! You do such great work on your candles!!!
  14. I will be doing my first show this fall so I have no "expert" advice for you. Guess my question is, did you at least make back your fee? If not, and if you think the show is going to probably have the same amount of traffic next year, I probably would not do it again. If you made money, I would give it one more try.
  15. Well, how darned cute is that anyway?!!! I love it. Is it scented? I'd like to have one, but knowing me, I'd do something stupid like hang it over my mantel and melt it!!!
  16. I think they look cool. I have never attempted layers yet ... next thing to add to my "to do" list.
  17. I live in Illinois and the past week was a killer! After working all day I was totally zapped ... no energy to make candles. We just got a break in the heat yesterday so hopefully I'll get back in the swing of things soon. Anxious to start pouring my fall and winter fragrances!!
  18. I do it all in my presto pot as well. Saves time and I don't think the clean-up is a big deal. I just wipe it clean with paper towels. Just had to add that I purchased my second presto pot at a yard sale the other day .. brand new and only $10.
  19. Your square pillar looks just like a slab of marble. You did a wonderful job! Is it scented? If so, what fragrance is it?
  20. Those are REALLY nice shelves! I dream of having storage like that one day. Waiting for my son to move out ... I plan to take over his bedroom once he's gone!! Alas, I'll have to wait a while. He won't graduate high school until next summer.
  21. I like your labels! Those look wonderful.
  22. That is REALLY cool! Wally World, here I come!
  23. Be sure to post more pics when the shop is all set up. How exciting!! Good luck with the grand opening. Sounds like you have a good variety of products and what a great time to be opening shop ... right before the holidays!!
  24. When I was first starting out, one of my test candles looked like that. It was because I overwicked. Also, I purposely did not trim my wick (trying to do what I thought customers may do). Both of those things combined made one real mess like you have.
