I also use Peak's dyes and I really like them. I have no problems getting the colors that I want. And as always they have great customer service!

THAT IS THE TRUTH! Are you just supposed to not burn the candle all the way to the box or what? After all of the fires that candles get blamed for it amazes me that someone would add to that by putting a whole box of matches in it!

I would also remelt and stir again. Maybe add a little bit more wax if you can't get it all mixed in.

In the beginning I didn't wash my jars but then I got a couple that looked dirty so I started washing them. I thought that it helped reduce the wet spots some too but then I thought that it was all in my head. haha. Good to hear I am not completely crazy (not yet anyway)

I just had to tell you all that I had another $50 in sells when I left work! The lady that took the 5 7oz candles ordered 3 9.5oz ones for herself and 2 for her daughter! WOOOHOOO:yay: Bev sounds like you are doing great as well!

That's wonderful! Its nice when you can go to the people. When you are available like that it makes buying presents so easy!

Hubby and I are in the process of moving so we decided to not do shows this year. I've been really upset about it since that is our big money makers but I just have too much on my plate at this time. Anyway I had a candle burning in my office and one of the guys came in and ordered 5 big ones. So I brought those today along with 5 small ones and a lady bought all 5 of those. Just in about 30 minutes I made $100. woohoo! I already have orders for more and the lady that bought the 5 small ones said she will be interested in the big ones for Christmas presents. Yesterday I sent 6 to my mom's house for her neighbor to smell and she bought 5 of them (not a fan of vanilla and that was the 6th one). So all in all the past two days have been great! I now have money to order more supplies (FOs ). I know that I could make more money doing shows but I am happy with all of the small sells that we are making here and there. They add up quick and all have possibilities of reorders. Just wanted to share. Mashala

I have two of the 9 bar molds and I LOVE them. It did take forever to get them but I finally did and it was worth the wait.

I feel the same as Mozzie, if you love doing this then you are not wasting your time. I know that I have felt really down when sales were low, but then I realize that I could be pushing more. This business is only what you make it. Mozzie is also right that maybe this is a great time for the partner to pull out. My husband and I started out doing this with another couple and they quickly realized that this is a lot of work and having full time jobs you may be up till all hours of the night pouring candles to fill orders. Your partner may not be up to this but you sound like you are. You need to do what is best for your business and if you love it don't give it up. There will be other stores that you can get your stuff into and other ways to go about selling. Please don't let someone else decide if you are wasting your time. When you feel low you need to do exactly what you did and come to this board for some encouragment. There is usually someone here who has been in the same situation and we are all here to help each other out!

Congrats! I bet that lady's friends will love that soap. If they have never tried homemade soap before they are really in for a treat and have to buy some more!

Hi! I think that you are picking some great waxes to try. I have used both at one time or another and was very happy with cold and hot throw. I got lots of wet spots with the J223 but doing containers you will learn to embrace them. The customers will not notice or complain but they will drive you crazy! I can't help you with the wicking as it has been a long time since I have wicked these jars, but I am sure someone will come along and give their input on that. Good luck and let us know how the testing goes!

I'm the same way. Ordered sample packs of all different wicks and I always get a much better burn with zincs.

I too love peak's home for the holidays! Smells just like what I think Christmas scents should smell like. haha

This seems to be coming more and more the norm. Craft shows seem to be less and less about crafts. Hubby and I went to a show this last Saturday just to look around and there were very few booths with actual handmade crafts. As a vendor it is upsetting to see all of these booths but as a customer its upsetting also. If I am going to a CRAFT show then I want to see some crafts!
