  1. Just beautiful, what great inspiration we should treat ourselves once in awhile; I think the round glass container with the lid maybe either for rings or loose face powder.
  2. Thats sounds good, cant wait to see the soaps
  3. I'm going to check on that OO you mentioned this weekend, I don't mind the creamy color, it looks nice, but not when I want white----but I'll finish up this big jug of OO in the meantime, got to figure out what I'm going to do with all of this soap!! it won't be wasted tho, DH has a soap basket of his own----
  4. Those look so cute, can't wait to see what you do with them.
  5. Thank you, I was having fun, just kind of improvised as I went along, the color was Neon Green liquid pigment from Planet Earth, tho I like the convenience, it seems I have to add a lot of it to get the color intended. I've decided I'm going to either cut back on my Walmart OO or try to use more white based oils, I added TD to my oils and it is curing out to be the cream or ivory that you see, not that I mind, its just not what I wanted.
  6. Thanks, I am having fun with it, just seeing if some the rules can be broken will try to leave them alone at least until the weekend, but I do get impatient
  7. Made a small batch of soap tonight and decided to just play around with it, didn't worry about the temps, although when I added the lye water to the soap oils, lye was about 105, oils about 100,no mold insulation. The blob in the square plastic mold was leftover, so I added liquid colorant till I hopefully got the green I wanted, had a little trouble with mica, but got a little on the top of one or 2. Gotta work on that for sure. I had no plan of doing much of anything with it when I started out. If this works out, it will be by accident I learned a little about layering tho, hope this turns out. All the molds I used are found at Walmart, except the butterfly mold. There are no designs on the inside of the molds, so the soap surface will be relatively flat, now if I can get it out of the mold
  8. Thats so true, all I wanted from one supplier was 10 one oz samples of fo and I was told that the UPS rate was $14.00 for up to one lb of merchandise and to top it all off, Fedex and UPS have increased their rates
  9. Give me another year, then I'd like to try but I agree with Jcandle attic, I like to craft soaps or candles not under a deadline, its more enjoyable that way, if there's a deadline, then it becomes more like a chore to be done----good luck with your soap challenge
  10. Will check Walmart again and if I can't find it will try Kroger----
  11. Makes sense, very much so. I used soap calc recently for a 2 oil recipe, I felt the soap would be soft and the numbers proved it, but it also showed that it would be very good on skin conditioning, hardness was in a low range, guess its due to the iodine #, but I thought it would be a start for my dog shampoo---
  12. As a novice soaper, I depend on them greatly. As I research CP recipes, I've occasionally come across people that don't follow them that closely, each has their own opinions of course and I guess the more experienced they are, they probably feel comfortable about that. I don't think that I will ever not use them. Do you as a soapmaker feel that they are beneficial to you?
  13. It surprised me as to what they offered, I found safflower, sunflower, corn, etc---but no sweet almond as Candybee had found, maybe I'm shopping to late in the day
  14. Thats for sure, I was surprised to see grapeseed oil there, but haven't found sweet almond yet and if I do, It's coming home with me. I do use their Lard in the buckets also and the off brand shortening---
  15. Don't blame you for canceling the Nov. 22 show, its not necessary to put up with those kind of attitudes, besides, I'm sure you and CB will have other great shows , as nice as your things are, I know you'll both do well
  16. I know this post is a little old, but hope all went well with the Memorial Party--
  17. I don't have a Giant or Martins food store near me, but I will certainly try Walmart, they're kind of limited here so to speak and they've probably moved the OO again, nothing stays where you find it----they wanted too much for CO so I'm happy with my order I just got from BA, price pluse shipping worked out pretty good, But its good to have Walmart handy in case I get too close to running out of some of my oils---
  18. Thank you, going to try that way It might work out better for me for my one color batches than what I've tried to do
