  1. Thank you, he's now 5 years old, that was the age he was when we found him; he hid under pipe by our barn and you heard nothing but growls at first till I coaxed him with a weinie, then he followed me to the house. He's a wonderful guard dog, tho I had to do a little basic training with him, he sits for his treats and sits to convince you to give hime one
  2. I REALLY didn't need that link I'm trying to clear out, not add to They did look good tho.
  3. Ok, so I read a lot and came across an article that said Canola Oil was a good substitute for Olive Oil especially if you were concerned with the "whiteness of your soaps." So then I came across a recipe that had both Olive Oil and Canola Oil in it----what would be the benefit of adding both of these to a recipe if the conditioning aspect would be the same?
  4. Hope to do so in a couple of days. I just found some fine grind pink himalayan salt at NG, so if this works out, I'll probably get more
  5. I do have a blender that just sits there, maybe I could put it to use. Just added an old handmixer to the soap area, going to experiment with that to:)
  6. Trying to get the hang of using "multiquotes"
  7. I will try it and see what happens, but thinking about it, I wish the salt had been of a finer grain, but since it was given to me, I won't feel too bad if it doesn't work out
  8. You know, this looks kind of coarse, the grains arent fine, they look chunky.
  9. I bet they turned out great , going to try out little individual silcone soap bar molds I found at walmart, they may be the perfect size I hope.
  10. Thats good to know, I was thinking of trying the Bergamot in cp soap , but it'll be a small batch for now
  11. Some just gave me a bottle of this and I wondered if it could be used in salt bars?
  12. Very pretty colors, Love lavenders
  13. Think that is one I wanted to try, seems like a lot of people like it
  14. will add to my list looking for a crisp, clean pine, not perfumey and hopefully one that wont eventually smell like old socks when cured
  15. I've ordered a few samples from them and wondered if anyone had tried Christmas Wreath or Bergamot. Bergamot seems very light oob and Christmas Wreath was nice scent and strong oob, but lightened in scent after curing 8 weeks in soap recipe and changed to a pine sol sort of smell. I will try more of their FO's just because of the great service that was received.
  16. I ended up pinning all of my soap videos and things like that on pinterest in one spot so I got rid of a lot of bookmarks cluttering my favorites list. Spent a lot of time there the first week I registered and now not so much. its a good place for finding ideas for different things tho
  17. You've been there awhile, you just didn't know it
  18. They sound really scrumptious! I think I'm going to attempt to make a salt bar in the next week or so, but I'll go with something really simple just to get the idea of it. Got some helpful info from the board here so hopefully the first attempt will be a winner
  19. UPDATE 2/18/15 After curing some months, I've used the first bar of this recipe and here again, 8 weeks works well for this one to. The soap is creamy, very. Small bubbles. Color didn't fade during curing , remained the same. The F)used did change some, at 6 weeks of cure time, the scent was like a fresh pine, at 8 weeks +, the scent faded to a light pine sol like scent, so initially out of bottle it was great, but it isn't one that I'll use in soap again. The FO didn't cause any unexpected problems with soaping either. Not sure how the FO would work for candles yet.
  20. I have cocoa butter on hand, I wonder how that could work out.
  21. I like lard to, sounds good to try, thanks
