  1. I'm working on tags too. I am having trouble getting the back side to line up. Also, I don't do prim but would like to find cream colored cardstock. Anyone know where to look?
  2. I am doing the bear with vases. I charge 16.95 for the bear/vase plus .75 per rose. If I sell the roses seperatly, they are $1 each. So far, so good on doing it this way. Someone has a kiosk at the local mall selling them for $1.00 each, everyone I tell about them has seen the ones at the mall.
  3. I cut the canvas the shape of the container I am using, currently square & heart. Patiently counted the squares to find center, marked the center by "circling" it with a sharpee. I put hot glue around the edge and let it cool. This "grips" the edge of the container to keep it from slipping. I put the canvas on the container, threaded the wick through the hole, left it up a bit to pour, poured the wax and put the canvas down, put clothes pins to hold taut. It has worked better than any wick centering tool I have paid good $ for and at less than .40 per sheet, there's alot of potential. This worked great.
  4. I'd volunteer to help out too. That is beautiful. Good work.
  5. Has anyone ever used plastic canvas to make custom wick centering tools? I just made some and they are working great! It was even nice to add more wax to the jar through the canvas. Then I thought, I wonder if anyone else has done this. So here I am submitting a thread about it. I think I am hooked!!!!!
  6. http://www.kangarooblue.com/ This is where I found them, I have also seen them elsewhere but haven't tried them since I found info on ornies. I made the ornies because I had everything here already and love 'em.
  7. Very nice. I use these jars and haven't thought of decorating them. Thanks for the great idea.
  8. This is an angel bear from First & main with the wood roses. As soon as I get my case of roses, (needed more already) I am going to do the white one holding a dozen black tipped red roses for a friends girlfriend. What do you think, dip or not? I know, here we go again. I just like to dip!
  9. Oh, one more thing......someday when I am having the same type of problems, remind me of this advice. :laugh2:
  10. Keep your chin up. I think it is frustrating for alot of people right now. Sometimes in life, we are reminded to be patient and appreciate what we have. You are very lucky to have your own shop, a supportive husband, an absent MIL, and a beautiful baby. Maybe this is your time to re-evaluate your products, store set up, staff, or anything else you can think of that may need work. I started making candles because of being let go from a job I loved. So my advice is everything happens for a reason. Don't be frustrated about your circumstances right now, think of it as a "blessing in disguise" and keep on keepin on. Good luck.:embarasse
  11. How do you get to view the pricing for Riekes? I use a couple of their jars and couldn't find pricing.
  12. Do these air fresheners last longer than Ornies or about the same?
  13. I have been keeping an eye on posts about labeling and have checked out various web sites of members here. :confused:My question is, do you put the weight of the actual candle (minus the jar, etc) for the candle size or do you put the size of the jar (ex: 12 oz Metro) I was under the impression that it was to be the weight of the candle but I am seeing alot of 16oz apothocary type candles being sold. I know with my jars that I can't fill it to the ounces that the jar says it. Please enlighten me on this topic. Thanks
  14. OK, OK,OK, I'm not dipping the bear. I have a friend who is buying one and loves it just the way it is also. You've convinced me. But I do have an angel bear that I have holding some roses that I may dip.........
  15. Those are pretty, bet they smell great, I love pear.
  16. Thanks a bunch Luci, this is exactly what I needed. Have a great day:yay:
  17. Inject? Never done that. What about putting a bag of aroma beads around her neck, between her & the jar.
  18. Is there a suggestions chart somewhere for suggested colors for fragrances? I found one on the Candle Cauldren site but thought there might be others available. Thanks...
  19. Thanks for all of the good feedback...what do you think, dip the bear or not?
  20. What are the most popular flavors? I'm playing with these now, my daughters are lovin' it...
  21. Here is my Valentine creation from the co-ops I joined. (wood roses & First & Main) Hope this picture isn't too big. Just wanted to share and am trying to figure out this whole picture thing. Hope you like her....I may dip her in rose garden, what do you think.
  22. I would like to know how you are marketing your candle, I mean explaining it to people. Also, how are you labeling it? If you are intending to have it used as skin care product, do you need to label it like B&B with ingredients and all? I know that the wax is very softening to the skin and this is a great idea, but how do you cover all of the bases? Such as if someone has an allergic reaction or something? I'm just curious.
  23. I have been using a sharpie on the jar (I found that the dry erase would disapear from the heat), I kept losing the post-it notes. It's funny to see my friends get that funny look on their face when they check out my current candles with writing all over them. Conversation piece, I guess.
  24. I am currently fighting with the square jar from Wally world. I have double wicked both size jars, but can't get a good burn even after I wicked up. After doing search after search, I realize these are hard jars to master. My question is: When placing multiple wicks, what is the rule of thumb for spacing? Whether it be double or triple. I have been checking out websites of candle makers, looking at their multiple wick candles and everyone seems to place them differently. Some are about an inch apart in the middle, and some are about 1 1/2" from the outside of the container. I just want to be sure I am spacing mine properly. Any advice would be appreciated.
