  1. I wasn't sure where to start, I haven't double wicked much. I'm burning it now, so hopefully it will work out, not lookin good though. I'll try centering it next time, see what happpens. Thanks.
  2. Congrats. I tried some palm wax that I got as a sample. I don't think it was container wax though. It was pretty on top but the sides of the jar were streaky. I did get HT (pink sugar) on my first try with it though, wasn't great but I could definatly smell it. What do the sides of the jar look like with container wax? I think this would be an interesting thing to work with.
  3. I made myself a cheat sheet to put by my pouring table. This is what I've found on this site and has worked for me so far: the wick curls toward you when the braid looks like this ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ It doesn't look exactly like that but that's the best you can do on a keyboard. if it looks like a v than it is wrong. v v v v v
  4. OK here it is, I'm trying 2 ECO 8's with this one. This is the smaller one. Libby's brochure says it is 15 3/4 oz. This is the first picture that I have ever posted. Sorry it is so big. Any advice on the best way to post pics? This is Lilac/ gb444/ 2 ECO 8's/ liquid dye- purple & burgundy.
  5. Makes you wonder why we keep on going with the soy, huh? I suppose it's like a husband, you know you love him but he can drive you nuts without even trying, sometimes just breathing!
  6. Beeeeeautiful...I wish I knew how to do the Electric candles already. Maybe next year though.
  7. for those of you that have your roses already, how do you put the scent on? I have read that you can spray it on, drop some in the middle, brush it on, etc. What works for you?
  8. I had the same problem once. I was trying to meet up with a friend to give her a couple candles I made for her, we didn't meet up that night but I left them in the garage by accident. I found them the next morning, they were awful with wet spots. I was so angry with myself, I just put them in the dining room and walked away. I checked on them the next day and most of the wet spots were gone:yay: Needless to say, it was another 3 weeks before I gave her candles, which smelled great because of extra curing, and there were no wet spots after that time.
  9. Has anyone tried these jars? I picked up a couple to try, a larger one and a smaller one. I double wicked them but not sure about how they will burn because of the corners. I want to let them cure for a couple days before burning but I am really curious now! Thanks for your input.
  10. I had great luck with HTP 126. I made sure the curl was toward the outside and it was perfect after about 3 hours burn time. I was quite amazed that I got it right on the first try!!!
  11. I have been having great luck with the ECO wicks. Great MP when I found the right size for my jar. Every Scent I have tested has been the same wick size so far. But I am still getting the Frost line on the dark colored candles. I checked the test candles that I have used the dye blocks instead of the liquid and am not noticing the line as much, although they are not as dark colored. I am going to make a teat candle with red dye chip and make it dark to see what it does. Wish me luck.
  12. So is there any way to cut down on the frost lines? Is it caused by the dye load or is it just another annoying characteristic of soy? Is it possible to cut this down or eliminate it?
  13. Does anyone have advice on how to get rid of the white line that appears after a burnt candle cools. It is where the MP was or below, and it's mainly in the darker colored candles. I use GB444 with ST, liquid dyes from BCN & MC, usually 8% fo. I have just started testing with dye blocks but haven't colored a candle very dark with this yet to get the line. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
  14. I got one as a sample from them but haven't tried it yet. It is very narrow so I don't know where to start with wicking. I'll try to get to it within the next couple weeks and let you know.
  15. I am new to pink sugar but I just fell in love with ICS! Can't say that I will try another. Great CT & HT
  16. I agree with the comments above. Maybe this will help with your wick testing........ http://server.com/WebApps/db-view.cgi?id=71493 Good luck!
  17. Thanks for your input. Maybe someday when I get done with my testing I'll try one to see what it does. LOL:laugh2:
  18. You're right, just a hurricane that you burn another candle inside, possibly one with a better scent throw. I wonder how the palm effect would look lit from within. Just an idea, I haven't even tried to make a hurricane yet...but maybe soon.
  19. The one on the right is beautiful. Are you scenting them? If so how? I can't wait to get mine to play around with, although I haven't figured out how to post pics yet.
  20. I have had good luck with a staple puller (the ones with the long handle) and if that doesn't work, since I use Soy wax, hot soapy water softens it enough for me to just peel it off.
  21. Has anyone tried using palm wax to make hurricanes? It seems to me from my research that you can't get great HT and it is hard to wick but you can't argue that it is a beautiful wax. Hurricanes seem to be a great alternative.
