  1. Yeah, you'd think we would have learned the first time......
  2. oh, good question! I dont know, but I wonder if someone has an answer.
  3. I use it everyday, and have had very little issues. What is the error message? You can PM me if you want, I may be able to help.
  4. yep. Slides right out. I cut the bottom off, but saved it. I take saranwrap, wrap around the bottom, and then tape the bottom on. Pour the soap in the top, put the lid back on, set into a box, and wrap with a dish towel. 24 hours later (but to be honest, I have never waited that long), take off the top and bottom, and with a slight push, it slides right out. Some people have also put it in the freezer for a few minutes, but I havent had to do that yet, and have made about 6 batches that way. So, until it changes, this is what I do. HTH
  5. I have made 1lb batches with no problem for testing a scent, but I dont necessarily like the outcome of the soap itself, not much of a change, but I always attributed it to the mold I use for that, which is the crystal light containers, instead of the wood one I usually use. They also make great sample soaps for the washroom! But if I am testing just the fragrance, that is the way I do it.
  6. I use a 2qt rubbermaid (kool-aid or drink mix) pitcher for my lye and water. Fills about 1/3 way for a 10lb batch. Plus it has a pour spout and handle so I dont have to worry about it slipping in my hands as I pour it into the oils. My oils stay in my stock pot. When I mix the two together, its all done in the stock pot with my stick blender, plus whatever additives I chose to add. Everything gets measured using a stainless steel nesting bowl. Lye gets mixed with the water using a stainless steel slotted spoon, with a long handle. HTH!
  7. I am a soap licker too! Then I run around the house doing raspberry noise....hubby knows exactly what I did. Guess my mom didnt wash my mouth out with soap enough, that I have to do it now....gosh...who would have thought?
  8. I have used the Geltones from BCN exclusively, and havent had any problems.....(yet...knock on wood....hang glittery things in the windows and doors to keep the soap fairies away and busy....throw salt over my shoulder....etc...) I used Green in my cucumber mint soap, looks more bluish green, but beautiful none the less. Not sure why you are having the reactions you are.
  9. Looks kinda cool Michele! Wonder if you could reproduce it.....
  10. Sorry I dont do HP, but congrats on your first batch!
  11. Yoo Hoo! Congrats! Great improvisation! Sorry about the FO. I cant say I have done that yet, but I have been close! So, when are you going to make the second batch?
  12. Perfect colors! Great job! Wish I could smell them...
  13. Angi, the mold I purchased from the classifieds here, but I know you can get them on ebay. I wouldnt recommend it. Mine broke after 2 soaps, and no, I didnt tighten the screws too much, because when I put it together, if you screw it too tight, I could see problems......cant verify if it was me, the prior owner, or the mold maker himself, but if you get the ones with the slots to cut, be aware, there is a major weak spot in the middle due to where he makes his cuts. Now I have DH on a mission to make one for me that is more stable. Love the idea, just not the execution. Dont think it can be fixed either. And a friend just purchased the ones without the slots, and hers warped, as well as several peoples here from another response in a post. So, that is my rant. It is also my own opinion, so if you do buy one, I wish you luck, but be careful with it! How I do my swirls. I have never attempted in the pot swirls. I layer. Color, base, color, base, color, base color. grab a chopstick and swirl! I usually pour at a thicker trace as well. Thanks to everyone who responded! And yes, the red currant and thyme is my favorite too!
  14. I have Paint Shop X, and love it. I use it all the time for business stuff, and for my graphic designs, as well as painting. Very versatile, can be used for a ton of stuff from scrap book pages to beginnings of animation. Only reason I bought this over Photoshop was the money, but I also know you can do alot of photoshop stuff with PSP, just have to get used to figureing out the tool bars between the 2, but they are similiar. All depends on what you are looking for in a program. I also have Photoshop elements 2, and use that for my sketching, but otherwise I use my PSP. Feel free to email or pm me if you have any questions.
  15. I recently purchased a Mr. Do Right Mold from the classies, used it twice. This morning I unmolded my latest ugly creation, put both sides in the sink until I was ready to get my stuff together to get washed. Started loading the dishwasher with all my stuff. Grabbed one of the sides, and it broke in half. I have the one with the cutting slots, and it broke in the middle near the middle screw area. Any ideas of any epoxy or something to fix it? This was only half the story: I decided after saying a few unmentionable words to not scrape the little bit of soap off the mold, and just put it into the dishwasher. about 15 min. into the wash, my back door opened by the wind. Went to close it.....stepped into major bubbles on the floor....apparently my soap bubbles alot..... Didnt add any soap to the dishwasher, but there sure is alot of soap and water on the floor......My kids thought it was cool....:embarasse It is now almost 9 am....I am afraid to move from my chair in case anything else happens.....
  16. The chocolate one looks devine! Those peacock colors look awesome!
  17. Thanks everyone! The wood mold is my 32 bar Misty Creek mold. Made my honey gingerbread soap last night. Smells good, but looks ugly. Tried to mix dyes to get a brown color, and should have just left it. Took it out of my Do Right Mold, and needless to say, the mold cracked in half....not happy this morning.....
  18. Wow Michele! Love this one. Going to have to steal one when I come visit in July...unless they are already gone by then...lol
  19. Ok, I have now upload pics from my camera to show off the soaps! This soap was created with Lemon Pucker from BCN....smells wonderful! I have actually made about 5 (32 bar) batches of this stuff, and everyone wants to try it. Hope to start selling soaps soon! Here is the imfamous Peanut butter and Jelly soap. Scented 1/2 with real Peanut Butter, and 1/2 with Strawberry Jam FO from BCN. The strawberry morphed and made the bar stink! Still fruity, but not appealing IMO. But oh does this one lather! The next image is the cured soap....it got very dark! Really nice hard bar, and lathers ungodly...have to keep experimenting with this one! The lighter color is actually the peanut butter, the strawberry f/o got really dark. This one I made last night, trying out the Mr. Do Right mold. Really like this mold for log batches, but still love my misty creek! Scented with Cucumber Mint from Backwoods. Traced fast, but not uncontrollable, and smell just like it did OOB. Testing new recipe, didnt have any castor, but had to soap....lol Here is the cut pic....love that marbleing! Here is my Fresh brewed coffee colored with Cocoa powder. Color stayed true after cure and then some, but no scent except for the cocoa powder. And last but not least, my backwoods swap spoiler: Love this scent! Now to package and get ready to ship..... All soaps were colored using BCN's Gel tones. Love these colors! If I have time tonight I am going to do a Honey Gingerbread soap. Pics soon!
  20. I have given out my formula to one person, only because it was a business decision. I have been asked several times on formulas or how to make products, and such. If you dont the person from beans....stay away from it. Be polite obviously, but it is your recipe! Ingredient lists are one thing, but the exact formula....unless you want them to sell your exact product, I would stay away!
