  1. This is just to funny.Sounds like my house. My friend and I always talk about our escpades with our cats.In fact a wonderful lady said she had a cat she didn't want. She said she threw it out.I wondered WHY.I gave her some suggestions to keep it but oh no she wanted it gone.So I take it.Well after having it for a short time I found it likes to lay in the litter pan.I got tired of that so caged her when I saw that.So that worked no longer laying in the litter pan BUT now she sits on the commode where my husband and I want to GO.Now who said they can lower blood pressure. What one isn't doing the other is.' LAst night I brought 3 papers and thought I will catch up on some news.Wrong there is my older cat just sitting next to me staring and won't stop.Just stared. Then anothe other cat attacks Twiggy and she growls. So that make things more interesting.Bug her more.So I break that up. For the catnip.I brought some and decided to put it up REAL high so they could not find it.Well Wrong.Packaged and all they get it down but not before taking the towels and washclothes with them.So more washing for me.I think they are worse than kids. I have my friend laughing so hard she almost cries.Well I am the one crying. Stress relievers. Not so sure. Oh forgot one more thing.I had a customer stop and buy more after meeting her at a craft show.Everything was fine till a cat has to get in the middle. Then my handicapped cat puts his nose in everything.Thank goodness she has a dog and cat and a few strays in the yard.I would put them in another room but they would meow so loud I would have to let them out. I will say they are work but I love them.Still though I am not sure about the blood pressure thing. The only time they may help lower it is when they are good and not sure about those times. At my house they are few and far between. 2. Fern, Thank you that is what I meant.I didn't think it was plastic but with me seeing these for the first time I wondered.I am just starting wickless and have sold very few.In fact people ask what they are and how they work.So maybe next year it will pick up.This is new to my friend and she is coming over tomorrow to get a couple for gifts. She likes the idea. If you don't mind would you give the suppliers for these(embeds).I am doing a few more shows this year and if I made a couple I will have people asking more questions.I am determined to let people know a safer way to use a candle but just like everything else it is preference. I am doing a craft show in an exclusive area and sure some will want to know.I have been making candles for only 2 years and learn something new all the time. Thanks LynnS
  3. Ok everyone let's figure what they are made of.Hard Plastic.it has to withstand heat. Not that the wickless get hotter than the wick. Is it no more than the fish in a bag? Will someone search this and let us all know.We are all over the area and not in one state mostly.I just started wickless and kinda slow around here so far.Would like to know for future candlemaking. LynnS
  4. I agree why buy make one.I may try it too.Ilke different things to add once in awhile. LynnS
  5. I think it is right not to spend $300.00 all at once.I have a few places near me and it is great but she is going for almost a 2 hour drive and I go 45 minute drive and it gets old.I can understand not wanting to pay shipping. If this is a good company they should give some pointers.I ask questions all the time on couple Boards and at the candle supply places I do travel to get supplies but buy on-line also.It depends on the FO I want, the certain soap at a lower cost and also certain jar.I have one company only 35 minutes from me but they do not have a store so I have JARS shipped. That is a killer. The 8 ounce JJ I get wherever they are found. Really I hear of so many that do not have a candle supply place near them and it is bad.I don't know what I would do without these 3 places.Still though some don't have what I want and some have quit carrying what I liked. Then it is shipping time.
  6. I have one also from Wal Mart but haven't tested it.I turned my one from Micheals off and it was not hot at all.I still will check today.I was leaving when I turned it off and in a hurry.I don't feel much heat at all when I go near it, For Wal Mart I was bothered I could not find one first of year but waited till almost spring. So just in the last 2 months they had them and believe it or not in the lamp section.I kept wondering why there but still did not care I knew where to find them.So go looking again and can't find one in the lamp section.Look at candles and were there.Sounds logical.Spring I looked in the crafts section and candles section and even tried where they have some other candles accessiories. No where till now so I guess kinda seasonal. Why I have no idea because I burn candles all the time and my wickless i leave on longer than my wicked. They do move things around.Plenty now at my Wal Mart now but this area the wickless are still kinda new after I went to craft sales and everyone asked. I will test my Wal Mart one.I got it because I think wattage was more and the wickless might work better.Really the longer I use Michaels it seems to be throwing out the scent fine.I guess it just may be the FO's that make a difference.A couple florals were not as strong as Pecan Pie, French Vanilla and Twigs and Berries. 7. I'm sorry Ellectra.I have a sister with leukemia and a niece who had a masectomy 2 weeks ago.A friend who died in June and also a friend who was on life support for a week recently. My sister has chronic leuk and they say she can have it for years.May have had it years before ever diagnosed. I am sure this is rough. This whole year has been rough on me.I have cried more this year than in my lifetime.I am just not sure about my niece.Tumors are growing faster than they can take them out. Also another friend was diagnosed with breast cancer this year beside the one who passed away with lung, liver and brain cancer. I saw where the company is and I live in Ohio but have no idea about this place but like what they have.I did e-mail you and hope things go good for you.It will take sometime to get things started.I gave a few suggestions.I have been making candles only for 2 years but I have found answers on Boards and also where I get my supplies.Talk to them tomorrow when you go in. LynnS
  8. A tablet, pen and maybe some tape. Also scissors at times have come in handy.I try to have it all because after you get there you realize maybe another sign etc.I would take a wet and dry rag if outdoors. My candles get so dusty and I wipe them off lightly. Some may think it is tacky but I wrap my candles with newspaper and no complaints whatsoever. Oh don't forget your bags also.Business cards.I was asked a couple weeks ago and did not have one but number etc on the candle. This time I was asked 3 times for a business card so had some ready.I just did them myself. I could probably think of more but this should help and sure you will come up with more you will need. LynnS
  9. I would go with 10 ounce and 16 ounce.I do 8,10 and 16 ounce jars and 90% of the customers want the 8 ounce.Just the way it is in my area.I just love the 10 ounce classic jar but seems they don't want it. LynnS
  10. CandleMan So better not to put it down just say this is a candle I got at a major store that sells. No names.Have mine burning next to the pic. I am always going to the candle dept there and see so many checking the candles out.I would never say a word. They know there are plenty candlemakers out there.I am sure they could find one.In fact I thought about advertising. For $50.00 a month I can put ad in the paper near my home and the ad runs 4 times a month. Not bad. Thanks, LynnS
  11. Are these on sale now at Michael's?I have sold 4 but some already have them and others have no idea what a wickless is.I will check mine now.I have had a candle on for almost 4 hours and seems fine.I have even been able to pick up the candle not long after shutting the warmer off.I have mine on the TV.Want to check that for sure. LynnS
  12. All I know is my candles are pretty and have nice color using the blocks but as soon as they get to hot or to cold that does it.That dreaded frosting.I have had a few say they still smell good and it won't hurt them.I say NO.I am the one to take defense and then they say they should be fine. I still do think alot look and go on and want that pretty color and maybe don't know what that whitish stuff is.There are those also!!!! Think something is wrong with them. LynnS
  13. Well after living through a house fire I sure would not burn something like that candle. No name on it so I guess made just for them. I was amazed the way it just kept blowing when nothing around.I guess just because of the high flame.I never did burn it long enough to see what it smelled like but after blew it out it was OK.I know it smoked alot as my husband mentioned look at all the smoke coming from it.I know it won't be in my house and I won't even take it outside to burn it unless in the middle of our gravel driveway with me watching it.Maybe the manufactured candles.I did buy some at a wholesale place and I won't burn those either. The flame was HIGH. LynnS I really don't mind if anyone wants to spend 92 cents.I had the money but what a waste.I won't even give it away. I never did burn alot of candles till making them and now I know why.
  14. I did not measure but all I know the flame was shooting high.Enough for us to be uncomfortable letting it burn one more minute.Went straight up like shooting and then came to a point at the top. After a half hour way to long for a flame not to go down.I was really afraid of a fire. The only time when I do not trim my wick my flame goes a couple inches And after a couple seconds goes down and stays down. I complain but when my husband says blow that thing out he is nervous.Believe me I am more nervous of these things than him.
  15. Walmart has some of their Christmas candles out. I brought a votive(glass).Came home to light and decided to put it in the bathroom because I had a twigs and berries on candle warmer. After burning for a half hour my husband walks in and I told him about the candle in bathroom.Well we opened the bathroom door and the flame was high.I did not tell hubby where it came from.He said you did something wrong and you need to change.I then said I got it a Wal Mart.He washed his hands and the more he and I looked at it we decided to blow it out.The flame was unreal.High and also blowing and no breeze.Kinda spooky/dangerous.The flame was almost 6 inches or more.I thought it was going to die down after getting started but it didn't.I don't think I will light it again.Pretty but very dangerous. LynnS I wonder how they ever get these candles that are that way.I guess they just order and don't care how they burn. I would tell you to get one and see but don't want to be the bad person if something happened.I'm serious it wasn't good.A BIG fire hazard.
  16. Hey this is a small world.I live about 20 miles from there and just started buying some FO's.I talk to a guy and I think he owns it and sure family owned. He is the only one I have talked to and very helpful. The first order I had shipped and the next order I picked up. I like what I have purchased so far.I get FO's from 5 different companies so far. What one does not have the other does.I am sure they add new scents all the time like other companies so will be watching for that. LynnS
  17. For those big tarts I bet they really put off the scent.Alot of scent for the money.I think I will offer both because I do have 48 molds now and will get a few others.Do these big ones for add on to what i already do.I like to add and change things every year. This is my first year for tarts so seeing how it goes. LynnS
  18. Yes I would package seperately.I do mine.Even at times when I have those packaged placed next to each other I just can't seem to smell the true scent.I have some small containers I got at Dollar General and put 2 different packaged scents (same container) but may change that. The problem is space at craft shows.I am doing one at NOON.Today and tomorrow and it is COLD.I have a heater so that should help but they say it may be moved inside. So then move all those things I set up last night. My husband may have the cart in his truck but will double check the trailer.I HOPE it is there. All will have husband there to help but me.My friend is busy with her daughter as she is outgoing Queen at this Fest and in the parade. She will crown the new Queen. For the tarts they will be 60 cents or more. The reason I asked I did them for 30 cents last show because they were leftover wax and a few broke.People were fine with that.I am sure the price too.If anyone asks I will explain but I told them a couple weeks ago I wasn't sure to sell these and they said NO problem they will be melted. So now using soy pillar blend and they will go up.Dropped one last night and thought Oh NO but it is fine. Thank You to all and I would like to make the larger tarts.IS there a larger mold or just put them in muffin pans?I THINK I read that once. It was a year or more so mind isn't sure. Thanks, LynnS
  19. What do some of you sell the tarts for?I saw on internet someone selling for almost 90 cents each.I want to sell singly as people seem to want it that way. They want certain scents and not alot of one.A variety.Any ideas please? LynnS
  20. I have Aloe Vera and the Goat's Milk. Also Honey based.I know if you can mess it up I will be the one.I did get a used microwave last week. LynnS
  21. I have been wanting to start MP for 2 weeks and it will be tonight. Is the best thing to melt the soap base a glass bowl. Can some of you give ideas how you do it.I have very little time and also want to see what I come up with.I am not sure about coloring.I guess most do but read some change color.Starting out with kids soap and also want to do some leaves as I have a mold for those. LynnS
  22. I am starting MP soap tonight and setting up later this afternoon for a craft show.It is so cold.So tonight making soap, antibacterial soap, lotion, small pumpkin jars, some tarts, and labeling.I will be sooooo busy. Maybe some Milk bath and Aloe Body Wash.Depends on time.Ususally this stuff does not sell that good but next week is Sweetest Day.I need to remind people. I am not able to have container candles as there are enough of those at this show already.Limiting that so had to get some other things.Oh forgot will have my car air fresheners. This booth is 12X15 and have no idea how I will fill it up with no container candles.:rolleyes2
  23. I am just starting soap so I hope my mistakes look that good.I am sure I will make plenty of boo boos.Just doing simple things to start. LynnS
  24. I would go for it.I just did a show for $60.00(2 days) and made almost 6 times that and I had some of my candles marked down because I only use the one piece lid and wanted to sell the others.I could have well made almost $500.00 if not more.I want to do bar soap now.The lotion and the soap last year did not sell at shows but it did sell to my friends. They still want the antibacterial soap so must find that soap somewhere else.My supplier quit carrying it.Just prefer not to have those gallons shipped.Just like the jars.Expensive!!! If this lady seemed to like the idea of bath and body products you make I bet you will do good. Good luck if you do it and you must let us know how it goes. LynnS
  25. Well had about 30 people ask about them and how they work.So they are not known in this area. One guy did say he has one and it is on a timer so he never forgets to turn it off when going to bed.The thing is I told them you use a candle warmer and you can get them at Wal Mart and showed them what i had also for sale.No interest. 2 family members got warmers and a candle. They came back and said it didn't work but I asked if they let it burn completely and they said NO they left before that and turned it OFF.Gonna call them back to see how it went. They were working at this show and also help organize it but never knew I did candles so they got some good deals. I will always have them but not alot.I am still testing for ones that do best.I did make a mistake and said "We now have wickless" so maybe those 30 thought that was all we made. I finally realized to add to that sign(wicked) but may have been to late.I know I would have done better even though I made 2x my booth fee.The next show I made 6 times my booth fee but did have a sale on some candles.Still though with the sale it was great profit.I had a hard time keeping up.Also got a outside order and she picked it up.All total (show and outside order)from her was almost $100.00. I think things are picking up this year but I was worried. With gas prices I thought people would not be spending.I have about 10 more shows I am looking into. Our paper listed about 100 shows in the area.I stay close by but when my husband retires we may travel a distance. Still not sure about these but do read in other areas they sell good. LynnS
