  1. Can I use a presto pot for my MP soap?Just starting soap and got a new Presto pot for that only but not sure it can be done.If it can what temp would you melt it? Love the presto with the candles so wondered if they would work.HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!! LynnS
  2. I use my wickless candles. I also have been known to leave a candle burning. I was in the check out once and needed to do more errands but had to get home.It was even in a room with the door shut(cats) but still I was nervous.Took over another hour to do this and later had to go back to town to get the rest of my shopping done.
  3. I used PAM to help get them out but they would break easy.Real soft.I will go with the pillar. No way do I want them to break if someone buys them. The PAM does work, but the top (in the middle) is whitish and wonder if it is the PAM coming through. Going to try without the PAM and with the harder wax it should be fine. Also if a problem getting them out I will put in the fridge.I read that but forgot how long.Thank So Much.SaLe in 6 days and I waited to do it all this week. LynnS
  4. I know of someone who has tried to get me into something like this but not candles. They want to come to your home and you shop and people you know shop and you make money that way.It does THOUGH cost a few thousand. So maybe these who are doing the classesare the sales people and you work under them and they make the money and become filthy rich.I mentioned this to a friend of mine and her husband did fall for it years ago and it did not work and years ago it cost them $2,000.00. I really need to look these sites over but I would like all of you think it was hogwash and besides I am not giving a dime for anything unless for candle supplies, grandkids and my pets. Also to my charities I support.
  5. Makin'some tarts and may have made a mistake because I used my soy wax that was left over. The tarts seem to soft.Should I have used the pillar blend.I know for the votives you use that but now I think I made a boo boo. Please Help:( LynnS
  6. That also would be my suggestion, craft shows and now is the time to get into them. Some advertise a couple of weeks ahead and ususally have space available. It could cost least about $20 and a really big one could be $60-100.I have done just as good at small one as big ones. The bigger they are the more candlemakers but still I do pretty good.Wickless candles are getting popular so make a few of those with also the wicked candles.Have a variety and not just one size candle and nothing else but make the sign big enough for the cause.First though ask the organizers if this is OK.I am doing a show and they do not want things like charity. They do pick a few orgs to do the food booths but mostly it is the festival that is organizing the show that does the food and the rest is crafters and not non profits or charity booths. You could just do the shows and make money if this type of thing would not be allowed.Alot of other kids will be trying to raise the money also and finding ways like you.
  7. Good luck.I am afraid my last minute things are going to be just like yours.I just haven't prepared this year like I did last year. LynnS
  8. I thought about the raffia after looking today.Thought about tape at the beginning when I realized the lids wont fit.It is almost perfect fit but just a little loose.I am going to work on it tonight. These heart otive cups are so pretty and want to find a way to do them.
  9. ThankYou for the info as this is about all I can come up with too.I like all lids on my candles but wanted to do some flower pot votives and some other different things( a change from jars etc). These heart ones are round jar(glass)like the flower pot jars but very pretty and a couple heart shapes. They almost look like crystal glass with hearts.Just something different and unique. I get them from a wholesale store 25 miles from me and they have just started on-line business and with the gas cost I am about ready to do the on-line there too.Especially if a small order and weight isn't much. The store is called the FLOWER FACTORY.You have to have a tax ID.Check them out and see my heart votives(not heart shaped) Forgot though I do have the small candles that are shaped like hearts I am doing also and know if I cover those it will have to be saran or just nothing.Like the big hearts we talked about last year these are small and hold about 3 ounce of wax. Thinking if I put just a little of saran around the top and then put the lid on that may work.Make them a little snug.I am starting these this week.I have to get on this.I like lids for labels on the top. Check out the Flower Factory.A huge outlet and different things. Thanks again LynnS
  10. I brought some decorative heart votive jars. They are a little bigger than the flower pot containers.I ordered lids specially for the flower pot but they do not fit. For the heart container they are the same size but not snug fitting.I want these to be covered and these lids would work but just not perfect fit.Just a tad bit to big not snug. What can I use to hold them on.If I put them in a bag the lid would fall off.Any ideas? It is to late to order anything.Craft sale in one week.Just got the lids yesterday.I don't want to leave them without a lid.Help!!!!! LynnS
  11. I am making a few kids soaps with MP soap base. The molds are small so what would be good to package something small.A box is to big I think and really a kid soap would be better with something simple. one more thing?I am going to try the fish in a bag.I was told to use food coloring and not our lotion coloring.I use dye blocks for candles and for lotion the liquid. So how much would you use of the food coloring.Blue of course so would have to be very very little. You have to see the fish.
  12. I was thinking the same as idescent. When I first saw the post that was the first thing that popped in my mind.Maybe that is the name.Only the way I thought was Beary Escentials. So now I see the E seperated that is the way. Say this one over and over.BEARY D SCENT.It is cute.Say it over and over.See what you think?
  13. I live 45 minutes from a candle supplier and am thankful.Today I did place a order on-line for some small things they don't have but really with the price of gas being $3.20 a gallon I think I would be better to just order it on-line as long as it is not heavy. It was $7.50 to ship. Even with the place that is 45 minutes from me.
  14. Yes I guess my post may have been confusing mentioning both.I was meaning get some tart warmers at the Dollar Tree but was also looking for the candle warmers at Michel's.Like to have both. Both stores are 25 miles from me.I need to check out those tart warmers since a show in a couple weeks. Michels I thought would have them(candle warmers) on sale with fall coming soon and people wanting to burn candles.I have maybe 10 I could sell.Would like a few more.
  15. Ida, I pm'd you but not sure it went through. My message came backwhat I sent.Hope you got this next one.Pm me and let me know. LynnS
  16. OMG Ida, WE ARE NEIGHBORS!!!!!!!! LYNN
  17. Ida, I thought about the boot and wondered what color?Don't want pink blue etc so I ordered the Kraft color.Did you see that on the site.If it wasn't there I was not going to get the boot. Also was black there? My mind is not sure.If so wish I would have ordered half in black and half in kraft.I better check that out.First though want to see if these sell. For the price in this area it would have to be close to $1.00.The most would be $1.50-$2.00.OOPPSSS I am forgetting the work, the package, label, the shape and the hang tie.Now thinking a little harder and THINK $1.50. What about some of you??What do you think they are worth??Sounds like this is all new to us.
  18. IdA, On Bell and Company you have a choice of colors.About 10 choices. You say you have some?Did you get them from another company?I will say I thought you spritz the scent on but after reading BELL site you use a brush to put on the scent.Makes sense as the spritz would be blotchy. I stayed with red for my 2 styled hearts, yellow for a flower, pink for cancer awareness and so forth.I now wish I would have made 1/2 flowers blue and 1/2 yellow.
  19. Freezin Yes I e-mailed her about shapes of animals.I work with animal groups and think those would be good. She said she had thought about that.I bet though the more you make the more decisions and their head would spin.I think it is all in their home and they have great idea. This is my first order but almost a year ago I thought about it.You know that the more shapes the more decisions like i mentioned. So if there was a rose I would have to have that and so and so forth.I know I got both the primitive heart and regular heart. Now why I am not sure DA? I will see which one sells.
  20. I got some big jars at Dollar General last year and they were perfect for these.Used a scoop to measure. Yes let it cure and then package. This is simple to make but did not sell that many.I think they are cute. I put the corn cob in organza bags from BC.
  21. Islandgirl Bell and Company Traders.I had told this on another post weeks ago and had the name as Bell and Traders so looked it up in my favorites. Now hope my computer never goes on the blink or I will forget again.Think I will put it on a index card and file it.If you don't get the exact name it won't come up.They are in KY. FREE SHIPPING.Also the cost per freshener is about $.40 each.I think 12 different designs. WOW lots of ideas. Thanks for all of them.I can't wait to get started when the order comes in.I have to get on it because my first show is Sept 17 and 18.Then another a week after that.Seems in this area there are shows every week-end till Christmas.
  22. I have done the season theme but this year I think I will go with something more unique.Kinda tired of red or green for Christmas and yellow, orange or green for fall.May tone down a little.I would use it under my lace tableclothes but maybe try different colors or go with a total different look.Need to start shopping around.Three weeks to go.
  23. anna, Thank you for the ideas. This is my first time doing these and wondered how long have you been doing them and if they SELL?I tried the corn cob sachets for cars etc and did not sell that many. Some but not as many as I wanted. My friend said they were strong and she liked the one I gave her. So now trying these.Simple to do and not costly.
  24. Yes I agree with the name.I posted once and said you can get something at Wal Mart but they had mentioned Wally World so I also learned they are the same,Felt kinda stupid but realize in some areas now it is called Wally World. In my neck of the world it is Wal Mart. I do get some jars there and also at Big Lots.I think they may be cheaper there IF you can find some.Last year they were cheap but may have gone up.I also have a wholesale store near me and buy the smooth ones there. It is 25 miles from me and if they have them I get the 8 ounce mason there. Now will be really hard to find these jars with craft season here.
  25. I just ordered 8 different designs of these.I am thinking about just a string to hang but wondered if that would be tacky and if anyone who is doing these have other ideas.I am making them as car air fresheners to hang on the mirror. Thank You LynnS
