  1. i have a sample of it from js sitting next to me (haven't gotten it in wax yet) and oob it does smell very comparable to ky. smells really good
  2. every christmas i soap a scent that i've never tried, something very different from anything i've made, it seems more special , and sometimes i end up with new scents that everyone loves. my new one this year is AWESOME i can't stop sniffing the soap LOL. even my boyfriend likes it. i tried it because my mom uses a TON of stuff from origins, so i figure she must like the scent. I've never smelled it so it was going to be a surprise for me, and i am so glad i tried it. from brambleberry's site: Ginger Soufflé: Based on the fabulous Origin's salt scrub, this is an aromatic blend of fresh orange and cool mint top notes with a spicy warm heart of clove, cardamom, ginger and cinnamon leaf with rich vanilla base notes supporting the blend. It turns a cream color in soap. i so miss living in the same state as them, they have to be my favorite supplier for my soaping fo's.
  3. Just tell her you're sorry, but you can't give any exceptions. If she wants to buy wholesale, her order has to meet the minimum. i am also wondering if she is trying to get a deal for christmas presents.
  4. ugh. Okay so a few months back i had this odd (okay, bad) experience with UPS that i hoped wouldn't be repeated. I had 3 boxes delivered in one day ~ 2 large from one place (ordered together), and one small from another. Well, one of the large and the small showed up and the other large did not. So i wait until 7 thinking maybe the other one will be delivered seperate... it doesn't show up, so i go check the status online. It says all three have been delivered. Long story short, for some reason i decided to go check around outside.. They delivered ONE box to the other side of my duplex (left it on the porch) and the others to me. Then yesterday i was expecting something from UPS and instead of finding a package when i get up last night, i have a message on my phone from a neighbor i don't know who found my package on her porch. So apparently UPS is trying to give my stuff away to my little neighborhood.
  5. and in my experience their customer service is *not* that great. they shipped to the wrong address, tried to say it was my fault, and that if i wanted my order i would have to pay all the *additional* shipping charges to get it to me. i refused and asked for my money back. i wonder if they realize that by telling me i am wrong when i have proof that i'm not and refusing to just send me my order without all that hassle, they lost a customer for life. how can a company that big not realize how much $$ they end up losing in situations like that? but then again, i doubt they care. it seemed like they really just wanted to argue and didn't listen to a word i said. oh well.
  6. yikes. new years resolution already? well here goes mine: ~get the business end a little more organized. okay, a lot more organized. ~introduce one new container for candles. ~get my new website DONE. and leave it that way, lol. ~re-add a few b&b items. i simplified what i offer waaaaaaay down last year to help me focus a bit. it's helped but i'm ready to add a couple items. ~redo business cards and maybe do a brochure type thing in early 2006. ~get one wholesale account. ~look into the local famers market here in town. i some how never managed to check it out this year. ~add a good show or two.
  7. you should be able to find a list of eo's that are safe to use in bath products pretty easily. as far as which is better? it's completely a matter of opinion and what sells in your area.
  8. And definately do not send a full bottle of brown dye flying in your kitchen, hitting the walls, cupboard, sink, YOU... I'm guessing that would be no fun to clean up. BUT i have heard that, for some reason, toothpaste might work well in this situation. As long as we are sharing tips... Always make sure your presto pot is set back a few good inches from the edge of whatever surface you are working on. If for some reason the full presto full of reddish brown, asian sandalwood scented wax should find it's way onto your carpeted floor (man am i glad i work in the garage now), first cry. A lot of wax takes a lot of time to get up. Then hop in your car, go buy the cheapest iron you can buy and all the cheap newspapers you can find. Iron those newspapers over that wax for the next few hours (or days :embarasse). And even when you think you are done, you will find more. Your carpet will never be the same.... ....and let's hope you REALLY like the scent of asian sandalwood. On a totally unrelated note... i sometimes wonder how i managed to get my full deposit back on some of the places that i rented.
  9. absolutely www.oregontrailsoaps.com. i have never smelled one this good, and i love chai.
  10. i've been thinking for a while about reworking my soap packaging. right now it is a cigar band type label that i print, cut, and paste myself. that can be just too much work during the busy times. i thought about boxes and it really doesn't seem like it could get much easier than that - throw a label or two on it and call it good? but for me it's just too much for a bar of soap. i'd like to stick to as little packaging as possible, but i don't know about selling naked, either. i mean, i have to have my label on there somewhere... i was thinking about printing out business cards, one side with most of my usual business card info, the other side with the soap info, and attaching that to the soap. tied to it, maybe? but that might take a little bit of time, too. that's similar to something i did last christmas for the soap i gave as gifts, i wrapped them in tissue paper and attached a business card with the soap info only to the side that was taped. i like to be able to show off the soap, though. lol, i think that i am making this too difficult and being too picky. but if anyone has any suggestions, i would love to hear them.
  11. yikes. well, first i would be as clear and to the point as possible. let her know what you think about her behavior as an employee, also letting her know how valuable she *can* be when she tries. let her know that this is *your* business and if need be, someone else can be trained to take over her position if it is too much for her. chances are you've had that talk already. in which case, sit down with her, let her know she is on her last chance. tell her you will have to let her go if any of this continues. and maybe if it comes to firing her, you can let her know that you will keep her on part time (because she is family and you care about her) for a certain amount of time (2-3 weeks) so she has a chance to find a different job.
  12. peak has a cinnamon bun fragrance as well
  13. oregon trail soaps has a really good one. their chai is amazing too
  14. sugar cookie would be good for a light gold.
  15. spiced cranberry is AWESOME. i suggest the cinnamon balsam, too. i make this one a dark green color.
  16. peak has mary jane. i haven't tried it, but their oils are usually great.
  17. Hmm i don't think that's a fair question. I choose both. I'm no help. I have been a peaks customer for a few years and have NEVER been let down. their FOs are strong and good, and their customer service is the best i have encountered ANYWHERE. I will probably always buy from them. just scent is new to me, but so far i have not been disappointed at all. In fact, i was pretty surprised to get 3 samples just for ordering a pound. There are a few of her FOs that i know i will be trying soon, and the ones i have tried smell great and are pretty strong. I say get a sample pack from both places. It's only a matter of time before you cave and buy from the other one if you try to choose just one right now .
  18. i think a lot of places that do this hike their product prices little so they are not actually out the cost of shipping.
  19. i am looking for a new orange cranberry to try out. wsp's is exactly what i am looking for, but i would prefer to not buy from them. i'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions, maybe of ones that you know to be similar to wsp's? and if not, any one that you know to be a good one? thanks
  20. pumpkin fudge (like you said already :smiley2:) pineapple upside down cake banana crumb cake autumn leaves smells good oob, but i haven't gotten around to trying it out in wax yet. i also have buttercream frosting and sweet potato pie to try out.
  21. i got some just like the above post from bitter creek (north) about two years ago and was happy with them.
  22. i've used stuff from oregon trail before and it was good. try their chai tea FO, it's the best i've found by far
  23. they could also have delivered to the wrong address. the postal system is not without it's flaws.
