  1. Yep, it happens all the time. So sad 'cause there is no cure for us When you take several bars in the shower w/ you and use each one on a different body part, that's when you'll get your "certified" stamp. I got mine a couple of months ago For me, another thing is the fact that I made it. ME!
  2. Money (rather the lack of it) is always an issue, so I juggle things & work w/ what I have. I do not own a double boiler, but I do own a lot of pots! LOL I have pyrex measuring glass cups in various sizes, all purchased from thrift stores. I use those as my "inserts" & put it in a pot of water, find a lid that covers the whole cup (to keep in moisture), put the pot on the stove on low, & go about my business. I've looked at the soap melters & double boilers, I just don't like the thought of having to transfer the soap into something that will be easier for me to pour. My homemade way works for me! I've never used the Stephenson bases, but I've read the instructions about using the organic/natural bases. IMO they have too many instructions for M&P. M&P should be fun & flexible. If you're going to keep using them, then you'll really have to learn to coordinate your moves & work fast. Try to not let it frustrate you too much. You'll get better w/ the base the more you use. But most importantly, HAVE FUN Sharon
  3. M&P is very easy and loads of fun! It's VERY forgiving in that you can remelt a few times w/ no worries. You don't need anything in the mold except the soap...it'll pop right out when it's cool & hard. Once it's set up (maybe an hour or so) , pop it out, take it to the shower & enjoy! Welcome to your new & fun addiction! Sharon
  4. I like the look of it. Have you gotten any smaller bags yet? That'll set it off! Post a pic Sharon
  5. Thanks everybody! I appreciate it. It really inspires me to do more. Sandi, that crinkle cutter is a tricky little sucker. All was well until I got to halfway through the 6th slice...it all just went to hell Adhesion issues. But, that's what they make soap bags for...for pieces of soap! Oh, HelenW., CP? I wish! I gotta stop being a chicken baby first. It's Melt & Pour soap. Have you done any yet? Thanks again all.
  6. Don't worry about the Amber Dawn's woodsy smell OOB. In M&P it actually turns into a really "grown-up, confident" woman scent. I can only imagine how much more so in CP or HP soap And when you fall in love w/ the Egyptian Musk, let me know I think you have a good little mix of oils!
  7. We need to get together & open a P.I. agency Damn, we're good! Sorry, hijack over!
  8. I've never had a problem w/ the shipping. 2-3 days max from Oregon to the semi-boonies. Like Carrie said, you'll be so happy w/ the quality that you won't care how long it took to get there!
  9. I gotta tell ya, this soap smells as good as it looks!
  10. Hmmmm, interesting The only sister site that SOS has, straight from the horses mouth, is http://silksplash.com/ Sorry, but I have no knowledge of The Common Scents, LLC. Maybe they're just NKOTB who didn't have time to take their own pics :undecided Personally, I'd be a little sceptical, but that's just me :lipsrseal
  11. For me, Aquatech was ok in thickness, & could have been more creamy, but missed the boat on the slip & slide & the soft & silky feeling after, and the sprayable lotion missed everything. But, like I said before, per their instructions, there's a (I think) 10% margin for tweaking, so based on that, their bases may be very workable. I have yet to find a base that has it all, which prompted me to come up w/ my own recipe that I think will work...I've just been a chicken about experimenting with it LOL. PMing you more Sharon
  12. I've ordered the sample lotion set from them. It held scent well, but I'm VERY picky about lotion. I like thick & creamy lotion w/slip & slide, that absorbs quickly, & leaves a non-greasy, smooth, soft & silky feeling behind. Their lotions didn't do all that for me. But, according to their instructions, there is a bit of room for tweaking. I just didn't have enough knowledge at the time to do it The samples are generous enough, & I think the ingredients are awesome not to mention that all inclusive price! Post how it turns out for you. HTH Sharon Hmmm, maybe I'll pull out those two bottles I have left & play a bit, now that I DO know a lil' something!
  13. Oh yeah, I forgot about the window craft bags. Cello would be less expensive, but hey, as my Mom always says "Work with what you got til you can get what you want". Rafia to match the color of the salt might be nice.
  14. Funny you posted this. I was just thinking about the very same thing the other day. My first thought was cello bags w/ some kind of tag over it, KWIM? Or whole-punched w/ Rafia & a hang tag :undecided Then I remembered seeing pillow boxes w/ a window at WSP (I think) Of course, this is coming from a non-seller...
  15. THOSE ARE BEAUTIFUL! Sorry for yelling, but they are just too gorgeous for me to say it softly:grin2:
  16. I've been looking at this trying to figure out exactly what everyone meant. I think I kinda figured it out: is the label throwing some of you off b/c of the rounded edges? :undecided When I looked at the close-up, I thought maybe if the label edges were square & even with the paper it wouldn't throw some people off Or is it the color of the label that's doing it? OK, y'all have to work w/ me. I don't sell, but if I ever do, I need to have an "eye" for packaging. So threads like this are important to me. As a consumer, I like the look of it. If I saw this on a shelf, the contrasting colors of the soap & paper would grab my attention. The label was actually the last thing I looked at when Kris first posted the pic. But, what do I know
  17. Can't this little recipe be used as a body mist also? I think I remember seeing a thread about that a while ago. Hmm, I gotta do a search...I have an over abundance of all 3 laying around here...anything to smell good and save money! I love the cyclo/fco body mist. I only do them in 2oz, but so far the fam & friends are loving them, & the scent does last almost forever! During the cyclo "lean" times, I use FCO & a light oil (GSO, sunflower etc) & the scent holds pretty much the same.
  18. I'm always happy to see OT fo reviews:yay: They are my fave!
  19. Really? Never tried it specifically for lather. Can't too much glycerin be drying?
  20. My choice would be Emu. It's an awesome penetrating & moisturizing oil. Could be a tad bit expensive pp, but the benefits are well worth the price. And a # goes a long way! HTH Sharon
  21. Nope, not silly at all. Perfect for this time of year & attention grabbing
  22. You can try 1 TBS of Castor oil & 1 TBS of Liquid handmade soap pp of base. I use all the SFIC bases & this is what I always add. I'm not sure if the glycerin will help w/ the suds. You can also try adding a little shaving base or LS white. HTH Sharon
  23. Those look scrumptious! Makes me wanna head to Godiva in Chicago & get some truffles!
  24. Thanks everyone! Yes, Maryann, I will post more often. This loaf was a challange for me, but boy did I get inspired! Yep, will definitely be sharing more! Sharon
  25. BOOBIES! My nephew-son is standing over my shoulder asking "Does she make x-rated soap?" I think the colors are pretty, nice & soft! Very nice! ETA: Actually, when you look at the small pic, it looks like a manly/muscular woman w/ boobies!
