  1. lol- I can't get past the chocolate (to me), and I had about 8 out of 10 mention it to me without me saying anything lolol!!!! Maybe I should have colored it ivory! -Kristi
  2. I'm looking for a Toasted Hazelnut that almost has a cocoa butter smell to it (very faint) and maybe a little vanilla bean (not very vanilla-y though). I've only tried NG's Toasted Hazelnut (that I'm having to call Chocolate Hazelnut lol) and need one with NO CHOCOLATE! lolol... Thanks! -Kristi
  3. I just saw straight Bergamot at Cierra. It'd be easy to mix. -Kristi
  4. How 'bout this one- (I'm still scratching my head). Some of the candles are a granulated, pre scented and colored wax. And the dreaded refill and build your own kits. My SIL gets the "real" candles from the same company, but she's never gotten one of the weird ones lol. http://www.morethanacandle.com -Kristi
  5. And WallyWorld has the warmers in the Christmas department right now for under $5 each. I bought one for my brother as he's in college and can't have lit candles in his dorm. (Of course I opened it and tested it for him first lol). Did great with the 8 oz tureen size and the half pint wide mouth jelly. IMO, I wouldn't want to use anything taller than that as it takes a while to melt to the top and you don't smell it til it does. -Kristi
  6. I can't keep Gardenia- I'm gonna have to restock soon on it, I get bought out immediately (and here I was thinking Christmas lol). Ditto on Pumpkin Crunch Cake. Oh, Sugar Cookie is a good one too and used 50/50 with Apple Cinnamon makes a great kitchen smell. Apple Cinnamon is good too. Blueberry Muffin is great, but very cakey and sweet- very realistic. Toasted Hazelnut is more like Chocolate Hazelnut and sells better as Hazelnut Hot Chocolate. Indian Summer is GREAT as is Bermuda Triangle. Black Cherry is very strong and true. I also love Tangerine Lemongrass, but it's not a big seller right now. Their Orange Clove is great as is their Spiced Cranberry (which I mixed with a splash of Yuzu to make an awesome Cranberry Yuzu). All are in C-3 Naturewax (soy). -Kristi
  7. Most containers are reusable- you can stick it in the oven on low until the wax melts, then dump whatever was in it into a paper cup. Then you can turn the container upside down over a paper towel on a baking sheet and put it back in the oven to get all the rest, wiping it out with a paper towel afterwards (a lint free one is best- try Bounty). Then you can rub the whole thing down with rubbing alcohol to get out anything remaining- ta-da, container is ready to be used again. So yes, you'll use up your wax, wicks and FOs testing, but fear not about containers! -Kristi
  8. I also use c-3 for tarts and containers. C-3 sets up pretty hard. -Kristi
  9. I use a tart mold to pour the extra into. Or I make a small layered crazy candle for my kids lol. I try to clean my pot out well with rubbing alcohol to kill the fo that might be left- I don't want to contaminate one- I might make a blend I wasn't planning on! it only takes a little sugar cookie or apple cinnamon to really change something! -Kristi
  10. I have nothing bad to say about Nature's Gardens- they ship to TN fast and have good quality supplies. They are in OH, but I don't remember where. www.naturesgardencandles.com -Kristi
  11. I have made Jack Frost as a chunk container candle. I pour and scent a shallow pan lined with aluminum foil colored red. Then I have my pouring pot with uncolored but still fragranced wax. You have to press the chunks to the inside of the container and it does get tiring, but it sure does look pretty. I've also done this with Blueberry Muffin FO. -Kristi
  12. That's OK, I went to go pick up an "in stock" item the other night, and not only did they not have it, they didn't know they didn't have it and spent forever wasting my time looking for it (round labels of all things). This was Office Depot. Ugh. -Kristi
  13. I have NG's Sugar Cookies and I like it BUT, it has a very buttercream scent to it. I also have their Bayberry and really like it- it's on a tartwarmer in c-3 right now. I had a little Mandarin Plum left over and mixed it with Sugar Cookies- YUMMY!!! Great throw and great scent. I'm calling it Sugar Plum Fairy. -Kristi
  14. How they burn has alot to do with the wick type and size you used. I'm not sure what you used for this. I use liquid dyes at the moment, but am seriously considering going dye free. Some who use color blocks use a grater to get a more consistent measurement than "sliver". Your fragrance needs to be added at about 1 oz/ lb as a starting point. That would require a scale to measure them. For what it's worth, an oz is APPROXIMATELY 1/8 cup- some FO's are heavier than others. Generally speaking, the darker the oil, the heavier the scent. -Kristi
  15. Ya shoulda seen the pillars I saw while shopping last night. They had spraypainted sticks and pinecones all the way through the bottom 2/3rds. No special burn instructions, just the normal ones. Hopefully they just don't burn at all lol.... Otherwise they're gonna burn alright! -Kristi
  16. I double wick with HTP 104's and had the same thing happen when I experimented with not trimming. Now I trim just the tips off every other burn or so. You don't have to trim much off, but if you don't it will curl over and drown eventually. -Kristi
  17. Oh, you are SO tempting me. I used to love color. Then I switched to soy. Grrr...... -Kristi
  18. Step away from the heat gun!!! It WILL make it worse. It's a soy thing... I'm thinking that frosted jars were MADE for soy! lol... -Kristi
  19. I have the 1.5 oz oval hex jars from Lonestar- my 3 yo daughter LOVES them lol... They are sneaky to wick though- I'm using C-3 soy and made the mistake of "knowing" that htp- 41's would be "perfect"... had to go back and order 52's. sigh.... I have plenty of 41's now though lol. The jars are just long enough that the wick drowned by the time the wax reached the widest point. Oh, and one more thing- make SURE you don't get the long neck wick tabs for these- the 10mm tall necks go halfway up the jar! Use the 3mm ones!!! -Kristi
  20. Pikaki is good- almost a Jasmine. I've never smelled a Hawaiian lei, so I can't vouch for authenticity, but my mother loves it. Orchid Rain is a good, clean bathroom type scent. Not really a floral, more of a ozone kind of blend, but with a floral base. Yuzu is too sweet for me, I'm going to blend it with Spiced Cranberry, cause when I stuff one in each nostril, it smells good . Ginger Bergamot is VERY strong and is a GREAT bathroom smell and very upscale. My kids aren't that impressed though, they think it smells like Daddy's deodorant (in fact, that's their name for it). It's a good masculine scent, but they would rather have Blueberry Muffin. I haven't tried Yacht Club, but I have done Paradise Reef, Kulu Bay, Bermuda Triangle and Hawaiian Breeze. Paradise Reef is fruity and salt watery and good. I really like that one. Kulu Bay is very clean and outdoorsy. If you like Orchid Rain, you'll probably like Kulu Bay. I colored mine green/blue like the water in the Carribean. Bermuda Triangle is one if my favorites- it's like a citrusy fruit cocktail. Hawaiian Breeze is another nice spa kind of scent with definite "palm" notes in it. Oh, and I've tried Carribean- veedddy nice pineapple coconut ice cream to my nose! And I've had that flavor ice cream in Puerto Rico. Yummy! Then there's Cocoa Cabana- don't even get me started on that one- close your eyes and you're on vacation! Love that suntan lotion smell!!! -Kristi
  21. I just went through a case of Joywax, ordered the middle of October (production date was the end of September, but I can't remember the batch number). I didn't have ANYTHING like that- my tops and sides were smooth and creamy. I poured some hot (like 170) and others I was waiting til 145, but never got any patches or spots like that. What happens if you remelt them? Can you heat gun the tops out? -Kristi
  22. NG's YUZU is waaayyy sweeter than a grapefruit. It's more like a orange tangerine grapefruit. Definitely NOT what I think of as a true grapefruit (good nonetheless though!)-Kristi
  23. I dunno about BCN's but NG's has a super throw hot and cold. Not too sweet either. -Kristi
  24. I don't know about Golden Harvest, but Ace Hardware is the only place around here that stocks canning supplies year round. You could try calling a few of them near you.-Kristi
