  1. Oh great! Now I'm craving a vanila vodka martini!! Well....it IS after 5pm here, and it IS Friday after all!! I'm going for it!
  2. Bruce, veneer is just a really thin "slice" of the real wood, maple, cherry etc. After you buy it, you glue it to the top of your crappy table or chair to make it look like the real thing. Plain veneer should not have glue in it.
  3. I've never used Genwax and I don't make pillars so I can't help you. Just wanted to say welcome to the board.
  4. I thought someone said they used thin pieces of veneer. They didn't say what kind of veneer. Sounds like it might be worth a try.
  5. I love those flat rate boxes but didn't know the price was raised. I guess it makes sense since stamps just went up. I learn just about everything on this board.
  6. That's so funny you ask that. I was just talking to my sister about valentine scents and she said she would like chocolate and strawberries. I meant to go and search for one but haven't yet. I'll let you know if I find any suppliers. I guess we could always mix our own.
  7. YIKES! Sorry to hear of your mishap. We have all had the title of "idiot" at one time or another, not to worry. I hope you are ok, no burns? Carry on.
  8. I saw those before Chirstmas and got one to try. It DOES NOT work, not hot enough. They were so much cheaper than the candle warmers I thought I was going to save some money, but alas, they are no good for candles.
  9. Very cool! I may have to try one of those. I have NO idea how that is done. :undecided
  10. I would look in your phone book under sign makers. Jiffy Sign, Sign-O Rama, etc. They all make banners too. Also, If you have Fedex/Kinkos in your area, they make banners.
  11. I have never ordered in bulk so can't help there. I have bought votive holders from Walmart, Big Lots and Michaels and the only ones that my votives fit in are the ones from Walmart. All straight sided votive holders are not alike. If you are going to order in bulk you might want to try a sample first. Good luck.
  12. I've been thinking about trying flower pot votives. Thanks for the info, I'll look for the ones without the lip. Who knew!
  13. Congradulations! For your first show I think that is great. And a repeat customer, very good!
  14. OK, first let me say I know nothing about pillars but I have seen these candles in the store. What if you made your pillar, took it out of the mold, glued or hot waxed the cinn sticks on the outside of the candle and then dipped the pillar in clear wax a few times? Does this make sense? Please ignore me if this is just a stupid solution. I only make votives and some containers. Good Luck. ps...I love your snowman!
  15. I love your new site and your new name and logo. I was interested in one of those electric christmas snowman tart warmers. I might order one from you! But I did notice that in describing the electric tart warmer you say the wax tart melts with the warmth of the tea light. It's electric right? Might want to change that one. Good luck with it all.
  16. If it's the 57 cent votive holder from Walmart, I use a ton of those and have never had a problem with cracking. I like them because they fit my votives perfectly and they are thick glass. I've even dropped one on the kitchen floor and it didn't break! They do get hot but not any hotter than any other glass votive holder I have used.
  17. I don't know what 34-40 SP wicks are but if they are zinc they will mushroom, especially on the first 2 burns. You can try the LX 10 and LX12 for votives if you don't like the mushrooming. I've learned to live with the mushrooming of my zincs.
  18. How about Spiced Pear for the gold? I poured Mulberry and made it purple/eggplant kind of color and it was nice.
  19. I'm going to continue to test Peaks new votive blend wax. It's weird getting used to the granular form, never tried that before, so easy. So far it does seem very different from 4794. It shrinks alot more and I'm getting large sink holes at the wick pin. It does release VERY easy from the mold, which is nice. I read I need to pour at 175 and I was pouring at around 165 so will try a higher temp. I haven't test burned either. Test test test.
  20. It looks very nice. I like your tart jars alot. How did you do, are you pleased?
  21. No, I haven't come across those molds. Partylite candles are smaller, about 1.5oz I believe. Maybe try to google 1.5oz votive molds, see what you get. I like the bigger 2oz standard molds and candles myself. Good luck.
  22. I make a clove/orange blend and color them sort of a dark orange/rust color. I use orange and brown dye chips. Love clove!
  23. I agree, Sruce Christmas Tree is great! I really like the French Vanilla Amber in the voitves I made. I don't really smell much vanilla but the scent is really nice, reminds me of a perfume. It is really strong, I did 1oz to 1lb wax and will cut down on the FO next time.
